Arturo Vidal

So the two worst papers in the country, basically?

I would say Express and Metro are the very worst but yeah the fact that the story popped out of nowhere on two news outlets is alarming. Journos like Ducker and Ogden have not confirmed anything either.

All the positive news about Vidal came from Chile, Italy (somewhat) and Spain nothing from England. Yes I know that the Herrera transfer was done in a similar manner but as of now things are very unclear with Vidal. We'll know for sure whats going on soon I think either he'll come out and say that he wants to stay in Juventus or another club will come in for him or that we will sign him.

Express also reporting it now, we have clearly leaked the news. We're either playing for a lower fee or it's all been a load of bollocks.

Maybe Louis want Prince de Jong and Belgian King Vermaelen...

Heh, saw there were over five pages added in about an hour and thought there'd been some actual news.

Anything noteworthy will probably be edited into the thread title.

What other options are there?

Really?

Other than 3 major news outlets saying the deal is off?
If that had happened, sure. I consider those three publications "major news outlets" in the same way I consider the Beano "important literature".

I have faith in Van Gaal, if he does not want Vidal then fine by me.

This is the same shit that happened with Ferguson...and we all know how that ended (Anderson, Cleverley and Jones as our midfield and Pogba to Juve for £300.000). I don't care what LVG thinks about Vidal, we need this sort of player end of story.

Regardless of whether this story is true or not, the Daily Mail, Mirror and Express are all trash. I mean even in a situation where nobody knows anything, they still know less than everybody else. It's important that we remember that at all times.

If it was true (and we have no real reason to believe either way at this stage) then the most likely explanation is that we were turned down. Only an idiot would turn down both Vidal and Kroos, yet that would be what we'd have to try and convince ourselves happened. It would be absolute nonsense.

As I said though, only trash outlets are reporting it so far so best not to read too much into it. I mean Express ffs? Just look at the updates Wibble has been forced to give us from them in the "transfer news and rumours" thread. They are less than worthless.

Why is it only all the shit papers? Daily Mail, Express, fecking star?!

Daily Mail had 11 hours ago exactly the same article with same photos and text, only first 3 lines were different. In the first one we were closing the deal in the 2nd one which cause panic they wrote it's off not explaining anything of course.

To be fair, it's been the shit papers reporting it all along.

Vidal will end up at either Bayern or Madrid.....I think the fact that our interest in Vidal is now OFF might have something to do with Woodward hearing through the grape vine that Vidal has already agreed to go to Madrid once they offload Khedira.....Sweinsteiger may become available and would be great and if not him then we may go for De Jong now and Strootman in January

There is absolutely no logic in these rumours at all, basically none!

Why would we pay £30million for an 18 year old left back and not £34 million for one of the best midfielders in world football? It doesn't really make sense, and if somehow we are refusing to pay, then someone at OT needs to lose their job.

I think it's bs anyway, skysports reported we had £200million to spend today, there is no fecking way we are "haggling over a fee".

So, most of the rags report that he's on the top of van Gaal's priority list and that he's 'obsessed' with him just to claim that deal's off because we're fecking around a couple of mils ?

Sounds about right.

Well is there any British news outlets not in the same category? None of them are reliable but when 3 come out either the same story within 30 minutes of each other it looks like there could be something in it.

I'll put it another way, how many actual trust worthy sources have reported the deal? most of this is coming out if the Mail, Mirror and Star in the first place.

I have no interest in insulting people by telling them to sort themselves out over the internet so we'll just have to see.

For the record: I don't think we're as interested as you (and many others) seem to believe.

Mirror posted something along the same lines in last 10 minutes too: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...chester-united-play-transfer-hardball-3861434

Of course, neither are reputable but Daily Mail broke the Adidas news and the Herrera news. Take from it what you will.

Looks like we will have to stick with Ashley young cleverly and Valencia, new manager same old shit

You need to see a surgeon mate.

It's not normal in any way shape or form to be able to pull that much bollocks out of your arse.

What's striking about this 'transfer' is that non of the top papers have run stories on it, seems to be all coming from abroad, then the clueless papers just batting the on, off stories between themselves, maybe a story will break in Chile tomorrow saying it's off & the Mail got wind of it.

Unless there's been a Kroos-style collapse (player rejecting us), I would guess it's a negotiating tactic. You don't pay £30m for an 18 year old left back and the balk at £35m for the best all-rounder on the planet.

It does doesn't it. Kroos and now maybe Vidal. Might aswell break the news that Anderson and Cleverley are integral parts of the squad

This story has some importance to it, not because the media outlets reporting it are so reliable (on contrary even) but because the message it is reporting is so unlike what you would expect and so sudden, as if the got some genuine real news. I agree DM fills alot of articles with bullshit they make up themselves simply to attract readers and sell papers, but the tone is usually that United are interested in all kind of big player names. Then when alot of media are reporting all positive news and suddenly this newspaper reports negative news, it is important because it is unexpected and it points to some genuine new information. Why would DM suddenly come out of nowhere and go against the current by saying this off if they have nothing to back that up ? There has to be something behind this, it feels like the club tipping them off, putting the Vidal rumours to bed, either because they want to bring the price down or because all the rumours thus far have been bollocks.

Today, at some activities with kids in his home town, when asked about a move he said only this:

"Im not thinking about where im going to play next season, im just spending time with the people i love. Later back in Italy I'll see about that."

added "I already play for a big team, Juventus"

I simply can't fathom why we wouldn't pay the asking fee for one of the best players in the world, so either our interest wasn't that strong to begin with or he doesn't want to move. I'm sure Woodward would be desperate for a marquee signing like this.

Or maybe the reports are a load of rubbish

If we haven't signed him by the time I wake up tommorow I am going to send Woodward a strongly worded email!

Why are fans on here suddenly becoming pessimistic? As a City fan, it's only now that the Daily Mail and the Express are reporting that it isn't happening that I'm actually beginning to worry. Seriously, they are utter shit.
