Arturo Vidal

It's also an English based forum, so I assume most of them are naturally English speakers, which means they are fairly likely to have a general dislike for Manchester United.

I noticed the Vidal thread on Juventuz has basically disappeared!

From juventuz.org

-Conte resigns
-Vidal most likely off to United
-Evra has 2nd thoughts
-Morata also
-We're about to sign Allegri
-Di Marzio just reported Iturbe to Roma done.
-Biabiany and Ibarbo here we come

All in one day

 Imagine if similar scenarios happened at United in one day? The Cafe would cease to exist.

Well just a season ago we got:
  • Sir Alex retires
  • Moyes replaces him
  • Moyes replaces most of the well respected coaches at our club
  • Missed out on Thiago
  • Fabregas didn't want to join us
  • Signed Fellaini for well over his release fee after waiting for it to expire as Moyes didn't want him to be "our first signing"
  • Pissed around the transfer market with desperate last min bids on the week before transfer market closes and failing to secure anyone that we are rumoured to be in for
  • Reward Rooney with a big bumper contract for his tantrums
  • Historical low 7th place
Last checked, we are still existing.

While all of those events were terrible, it wasn't in the span of a day or two. Well, Fergie retiring and Moyes being announced were pretty close to one another.

But still, what a nightmare of a season. So glad we're behind all of that and on to brighter things with van Gaal.

Basically, Deal was on last night, deal off this morning, on again this afternoon, then off again this evening but now seems to be on again...

What are the sources?

My timeline of events:

Last week - Mail & Mirror fabricate a transfer drama
Last night - Conte resigns
This morning - James Ducker tweets no contact has been made

They're English speaking posters though.

I'd imagine it's a different attitude among the real fans...

This very much. I bet a lot of them have Juve as their second club.

I don't know why they hate us so much. I would understand if Liverpool came for him and there was hate.

But we always had a great relationship. We applauded off Del Piero the last time we played them in a friendly at Old Trafford.

Was thinking if Gundoggan was available and then checked..... apparently put on a LOT of weight and cant train. Career could be toast

Every big club, and I mean EVERY big club would have been all over this guy this summer, if he never injured his back. His performances in 2013 were nothing short of phenomenal.

We would probably have had a 200 page thread of Ilkay Gundogan right now

Yeah it's a shame but I doubt we will ever see him play at the top level again, its rare people come back from injuries the same

That last photo was a few months back I think. His slimmed down a fair bit now.

Nothing, this muppet show will continue on till the 28th at least.
I've said the same. But then I remember Sanchez signed for Arsenal when on holidays so maybe the same might happen with Vidal hopefully.

There is so many stories doing the rounds i dont know what to believe....
Scenario's

1. If as believed we haven't made any contact then NOW is the time to pounce
2. If we have been negotiating then Conte's resignation and the circumstances which he resigned MUST be good news

I don't understand the bitterness at all. Are they all just Scousers in disguise. Why so much hatred?. Just because we are in for their player?. FFS, I didn't see any hatred towards juve here when they snatched Pogba.

Wouldnt you be pissed off if Keane in his prime moved to Juventus?

I'd be pissed at Keane and the club for failing to keep hold of him.

Yeah but try to understand their point of view. Juventus fans has passed from hell and back with the scandal issue (which was nothing but a scam meant to bring honors while spending the least possible). They have stick to the club through the entire process which included being crucified by the media, handing up titles which they won and watching their club playing in the Serie B. Their club think as if they are Real Madrid but transfer wise they are like a mid table club ie forcing top players to leave when a big fee comes in and replace them with potential.

You also have to understand the concept of the people living in that part of world. For us the holy grail is not the league title but the CL. By losing Vidal Juventus are showing that they dont care about that at all. Under such circumstances you cant expect this people to think straight.

Lots of talk about transfer stories on TalkSport this morning, especially Khedira, Navas, etc. Not so much as a mention of Vidal. :-(

You support Juventus?

Actually I fully understand their point of view and that is why I said I'd be pissed off as well if we sold our star player. But what I don't get is the hate towards United. Yes, we are a poor team at the moment but we are HUGE, one of the three biggest clubs in the world and they act like us trying to sign Vidal is us overreaching. And in any case if United don't get Vidal, someone else will and that is still the most likely scenario in my opinion.

Yup.

FFS people believed that we think 34m is too much for Vidal when we've paid that much amount for an 18yr old fullback in the same window, some here are asking for "concrete" news and official from the player himself as if the player is going to say "feck Juve, I want to join United". The same thing happened in the Shaw thread when people kept on asking for "official" think inspite of it being clear that the deal was done ages ago.

We've had the best transfer window in years and we're only in July right now and still people are getting impatient.
plus. we're only 2 weeks into transfer window and already have two signings

LVG is coming today so hopefully we'll know something more concrete.

'I am very happy with the squad, this is a great collection of players and I will be more than happy to start season with them.'

I am also Juventus fan now..... I used US in terms of people living in the Southern region of Europe. I do the same with Man United. CL > EPL title.

No, I just follow the Serie A and living a stone throw away from Italy helps. Juventus are the Real Madrid of Italy. In terms of honors they have more then we do (they have 1 CL less then us but they do compensate to that with 32 league titles, 3 UEFA and 2 UEFA Super cups). They are also passing from a great time, having won the League title 3 times in a row. So for them its unconceivable that we're able to take away their star player when we're not even in Europe anymore.

I would be pissed off if Juventus took Ronaldo from us day 1 after they got back to the Serie A.

Not accusing you of anything, that statement made it look like you were referring to "we" as Juventus. My apologies for misreading that.

Again, their inability to retain their star player has got feck all to do with United. It seemed inconceivable to me that despite our shambles of a midfield and them having one of the strongest in the world, they took away the biggest talents to have emerged from our reserves in the last decade and a half. It was because they offered him terms that we couldn't. I am disappointed with how United handled that matter, but I am not angry at Juventus because if it wasn't them, it might have been someone else.

And let us be honest. We were pissed off when Real used to pip every United player they set their eyes upon. Back in my childhood I was fuming when Inter took Ince from us especially when Moratti hinted that he was going to use Ince as a means to 'despoil' Manchester United from their brightest talent (Cantona, Scholes and Giggs)

Regarding Pogba, well, they took a gamble which we weren't willing to take ie get a promising kid and give him regular football. Its impressive especially when you consider that these guys have the likes of Pirlo, Marchisio and Vidal in midfield and not Cleverley, Fletcher and Ando.

What a contrast!

How many statements have you heard from van Gaal, Woodward, Rio, Giggs, Rooney and van Persie about how much they'd like to have Vidal play for us? So don't compare Real's Ronaldo chase with this, it's ridiculous.

And as regards Pogba, so? Ferguson had him earmarked as the future of our midfield but he left because of certain circumstances. Juventus took advantage of those circumstances and got one of the best young players in the world. Similarly, if Vidal were to leave, it will only be because either Juventus need the money or he wants to move. Again these are another set of circumstances and if United don't sign Vidal, someone else will. The club has been very discrete about this. They should question why their club lost their best player to a team not even in Europe but they should have no reason to hate on United if he does end up joining us.

My point is that fans like to think that their club is the biggest club in the world. Top clubs tend to feed that sort of propaganda to their fans. So when deals like that happen then things get messy. May I remind you that till the time of writing Vidal is not FORCING a move. He's happy at Juventus. The club is selling him not because he wants to leave the club. They are selling him because they want to cash in. Which makes this deal different from the likes of Ronaldo were he was forcing a move.

And no Juventus do not need the money. They are a prosperous club with zero debt, a rich family (that are historically homegrown fans)that back them up and a football ground of their own (this may sound trivial to United fans but in Italy its particularly significant). Juventus tend to sell their top players when they reach maximum value. They did it even when the Serie A was at its top (ex Roberto Baggio) and they have no regard to long term servants whatsoever. The way they treated the likes of Vialli, Ravanelli and Del Piero is
distasteful and I am one who rarely fall to sentimentality.

The fact that Conte has jumped ship gives plenty of food for thought. We are talking here about a legend, the closest Juventus have to our Ryan Giggs and Gaz
