Arturo Vidal

I don't know what a lot of you expected for this presser.

Moratta: Conte left, but for personal reasons it has nothing to do with transfers.

Oh and we're selling Vidal.

I cant believe some people here.. They expected him to say: "Yeah we're selling Vidal" or better yet "we're selling him to Manchester United, all the best to him.. "
SO now he hasnt said that people are panicking and crying it's over.

Its not definite this deal will get done but from this quotes you cant say it's all over...

It's all posture especially after all the bad news they had in last 2 days.

It hasnt even been 24 hours since it was announced, that Conte had left Juve - to open up his own hair & nail Salon "Conte's Short & Curly's"...

Its always great to get excited about a potential world-class signing & not so great to hear the opposite, so lets just be patient & see how things pan out - still plenty of time left folks..

Really? There are no other midfielders in World Football apart from Arturo Vidal?
Just saying like who? with the calibre that we require?
I could only think of Khedira as an alternative to Vidal, but he is off to Arsenal by all accounts.
Maybe one of the Bender brothers?
Pretty sure we will end up with someone underwhelming again!

Definitely. If he wants to stay, great for Juve. But if he wants to leave, he's going to have to be the one to push for a move so that Juve can say that they couldn't stop him from leaving, especially if United put in a big bid. Also, United won't place a formal bid until they know for sure that Vidal wants to move to United. So yes, ball is very much in his court.

Go away Cina, you racist.

This will all depend on how much Vidal wants the move I guess.

The fact that whenever Vidal has never taken the opportunity when asked to confirm his allegiance to Juve when asked (especially when being their biggest star), along with Conte's resignation are especially positive signs to me regarding Vidal.

I think Woodie has this one wrapped up.

United placed a formal bid for Shaw and after they refused that only he told Southampton he wanted to leave without putting a transfer request.

If we wanna take this further expect something similar.

It fits in with what Mitten said about us only wanting players that want to come here. If he doesn't push for it then it probably won't happen.

Personally I think it's a bit arrogant given we don't have CL to think we can only do this, considering how much of a rebuild we need.

It's over guys. They're not selling him. We give them Pogba for free and they're not selling.... Wow. Thats hard to take in.

I hope and don't think we'll end up with just Herrera and, let's say, a Fellaini type.

But let's wait and see, plenty of time yet - LVG has only just arrived at United as well :)

I don't think this is any more or less on that it was before the conference. Wouldn't think a new manager would come in and immediately sell a star player, but it could be too late for that not to happen. Far from saying this is likely to go through, just that what was said in the conference makes no difference, it was pretty much all he could say. No one admits a sale'e done before it is and saying he would stay when he might not would brand him a liar.

However, now we've reached 200 pages this is definitely going through, the Mata thread proved this.

It's far from a dead dealio, come on lads cheer up. Juve have not said he won't be sold this Summer, Vidal has not ruled out a move. Come on everybody, over 200 pages here already, the muppet melt down is not here just yet. We still have a great chance of signing Vidal.

This. United and Juve have covered themselves, whichever way it goes. Down to the player now.
I think it's more down to us really. I'm sure Vidal does want to come, but I doubt he'd force a move as juventus is also a great club and he wouldn't want to burn his ties with the club. It's up to us to offer Juventus' asking price for Vidal, as has always been the case. We aren't going to get him for £30m of course, but if Marotta said he was for sale, there was a chance at that with all the balls being in our court pretty much.

As it is, it's the same as before. Will we offer what they are asking? If so, he's ours. If not, he's staying. All there is to it IMO, unfair to criticize any journos either as there's no way of knowing if we will or won't.

It's all upto Vidal and imo always has been, Ed needs to get onto the phone to Vidal's agent and tell Vidal to ask for a transfer or we just move on to another target.

Why do you think the club briefed that they weren't going to pay 34m for Vidal a few days ago? If they had briefed they were confident of signing Vidal, then the club would look like mugs.

Also, the article is entirely based on Marotta's quotes, which is hardly concrete evidence that Vidal is staying.

Clubs always say a player is not for sale, unless they are desperate to get shot of them. Vidal himself hasn't rubbished the rumours. He diplomatically suggested that he has options. Not really worried. He will come if he wants to come. I just hope he can clearly define his desire sooner rather than later.

I fail to understand how people can be positive or negative that this transfer will happen. I mean we're all fed the same information but some people take it ridiculously too far, some stupid mood swings.

Yes I'm sure about that. Jamie Jackson is just taking the negative spin on things and seeing what they said as 100% he's not leaving, which clearly isn't the case. Jackson knows feck all anyways, in case you didn't know. He said there has been no contact what so ever even though Vidal himself said there was. Also, we're clearly just denying everything to the journos until things are official, there is a reason they don't know anything this summer regarding us. We probably did tell Jackson we aren't interested. That's complete bollocks of course though, given what Vidal has said and Van Gaal being a huge fan of Vidal.

This press conference changes absolutely nothing. Juve's CEO would never say anything different, thinking otherwise is a bit delusional and it just isn't how negotiations work.

This has all been pure speculation from the off, to be fair.

This isn't happening - thank god it didn't run all summer though.

Now, let's sign some promising, world class talent please Woody!

Making Vidal look like the bad guy in case he leaves. "He says he's happy", meaning - we are Juventus can't do more than believe him.

I was 30% confident yesterday. Bumping it up to a solid 45%

Still, a lot of people might have thought this deal was pretty close to completion with Conte's departure. Even if the deal is still on (and I'd guess it probably is) then it really isn't going to be resolved soon, is it? They can hardly make that quick a turnaround.

Had a quick look on that Juve forum and they all seem convinced he's staying again. Which either means that a) they're idiots who have fallen for a clearly false denial from their club or b) we're idiots who've set ourselves up for disappointment yet again.

Guess we'll see what happens....

Exactly, the evidence over the last few weeks (and especially last night) seems to be indicative of Vidal making the move.
Yeah. There's no guarantee he will come of course, just like there's no guarantee he'll stay. It's up to us to offer the amount they are asking (apparently €45m), and if we do, then he's ours. He's not going to force the move and they aren't actively going to try and sell him. Everyone has a price though and we just have to get to that amount and find an agreement with Juve. Far from any deal being done, but it's definitely not off either.
