Arturo Vidal

So they said it in the press conference and now pull off a double body slam to the muppets... seems like this Vidal thing was merely made up on twitter. No credible source ever confirmed our interest.

Wow twitter sure is powerful nowadays, it can create a story and make it lead its own life whilst the subjects involved in the rumor are scratching their heads all the way through.
More likely is that they are just going to quote what Marotta said. More papers repeating what 1 person said doesn't make it more dead or whatever. It's the exact same as it was before. We know what Juve's stance on things are, they don't want to sell and aren't actively looking to sell him of course, but every player has a price. Vidal said United is an option pretty much too. We'll see what happens from now but there's no guarantee either way.

Its dead lads. All those British journos cannot possibly be wrong, Juventus CE outright said that they do not want to sell him, Vidal himself said hes happy where he is so I cant see any reason for optimism anymore.

So it off? That is a shame. I believed we needed a quality signing this summer in the ilk of either Di Maria, Kroos or Vidal in order to keep competition lively. Looks like Mata and Louis Van Gaal will more than suffice for next season.

I still believe we need a partner to Herrera other than the list of midfielders we currently have. I believe Van Gaal will wait till January to make Strootman that signing if we do not get any other midfield players this window. I would prefer we address that issue at the moment and bring in William Carvalho or my personal favorite Ruben loftus Cheeks, Rabiot, or Chalobah.

I don't know much about Rabiot but neither of those two are anywhere near ready for that sort of responsibility. I mean if you want to name a load of kids who are barely beyond U21 football yet you might as well just use Rothwell and Pearson.

Carvalho is promising but horribly overpriced.

I'm not saying it's dead in the water, but how some of you were so confident about us getting him  Sounded as if there were a few on here who would have been willing to put their savings on it.

The ones I feel sorry for are those who stayed up until 3am watching Chilevision

Actually, no thats not true

I have a feeling they'll dig their heels in regarding Vidal but might be more willing to sell Pogba.

The Vidal situation has gotten too much of a touchy subject with their fans for them to sell now.

F*ck them - keep this goin i say. Its not over yet..

Dont forget, we had to endure the Ronnie to Real saga for 2 years. Not to mention Juve stole Pogba off us, after we stole him off Le Harve.. Bastards!

We've been through some amount of shit - its Juve's turn now!!

Fact is this one was always being carried by crap sources. The usually good ones like Ducker etc. have been saying for a few days now that this one is off.

Hopes were raised slightly when Mitten said that it was on because he is usually good but maybe he's been misled this time. It happens.

:lol::lol: You clearly don't know the standard of English football journalism then!

All these guys are doing is reporting cold hard fact's which they are being told.

Sure the Juve Director is right now putting on a brave face, but let's see what happen's when the Conte dust settles.

The fact remains they need money to buy new players, and with Pogba/Pirlo/Marchisio they have a decent 3 options already.

After so much promise this would equal the most underwhelming transfer window since... well last summer. I wish we would put our hands in our pockets rather than fannying about with awful, gamble signings. Fellaini, Smalling, Young, Hernandez most our other signings ... all signed in HOPE they will turn into world beaters rather than buying what our squad needs... Genuine world beaters
I agree. I'm happy with Herrera and Shaw so far but I still think we need at least two top quality players to get us back in contention with the rest. Vermaelen and De Jong would be pretty shite to be honest.

Am I the only one that sees this as yet another flip-flop from the press? They really have no fecking clue!

Juve were always going to say not for sale - saying he's on the market would weaken their hand.

Let's not forget what Vidal has himself said - he's open to move.

If we're not in for him, I hope to God we've got someone else lined up. Herrera alone is not enough.

The English journalists are garbage, though, so why would I believe them either way on this?

We're going to sign players either way because we simply have to and we have the money.

I thought the Chilevision thing was a joke? When someone put 'Chilevision Chile Chilevision' I kept singing in my head.

'chuckle vision, chuckle chuckle vision' ( this will go over all non uk residents heads)

Ruben loftus Cheek is a god-tier footballer from what I have seen so far. I agree that they are not ready to start consistently, but they could play backup to Strootman who could come in January or currently Carrick. They would at least provide better depth than what we currently have. To illustrate:

Summer:
Carrick(Ruben Loftus Cheek/Pearson) - Herrera(Cleverley???)
January:
Strootman(Carrick/Loftus Cheeks) - Herrera(Cleverley???)

With Carvalho, I agree that he is overpriced. Unless Sporting accept a lower evaluation, I can see him staying with Sporting another year.

It happens every summer window why is everyone so shocked

Some can't cope with the inevitable crash and burn after a failed transfer. We've enough to get excited about already, without getting upset about a player that isn't even ours. Still a chance he will sign anyway.

Yes and I think if this Vidal deal doesn't work then we'll sign other midfielders. There's been so many failed transfers under SAF that you would think many of us would be careful not to get too carried away

If we have no chance of getting him then at least it kept us occupied for a couple of weeks.

I've already seen a few "fans" on the last few pages saying we don't need a new CM as Louis Van Gaal is more important than any new signing, that's all well and good but can he play CM?

Another said we don't need Vidal as Louis will work his magic with Cleverley? Seriously?

Someone also called De Jong and Vermaelen "breathtaking", I'm convinced that has to be someone on a wind up trying to cause controversy on here.

As it went along they were all saying different things. Now, in a short space of time, they're all pretty much united in saying we're not in for him. To me that suggests the story has been put around. I don't think that many would simply follow each other like that.

It's probably going to be the case that we won't put up the cash that is required to close the deal.

Standard United move.

I don't understand all the butthurt. Juventus have just lost a good manager who was adored by the fans and replaced him with pretty much the opposite. Do people really believe, that less than a day after that has happened, they're then going to confirm their best player is about to be sold?

Even if we dont sign him do people actually believe we wont sign another midfielder or couple of players. People are already crying we'll play Carrick and Cleverley as if we didnt buy Herrera and he doesnt even exist and we wont sign a midfielder..

Either way call me crazy but I still think we'll get him.
So their spokeperson said he isnt for sale, big shock, bigger surprises have happened.

Of course. I think it's well established that United have briefed the media.

Question is, are they feeding journos lies, or are we really not in for him?

Vidal seemed open to a move, so if he's truly not on our radar, I find it strange.

No but the quotes seemed genuine that they have no intention to sell. It all seems like a bullshit rumour that has blown up.

The manager hasn't even started yet so if this Vidal transfer is off I wouldn't worry. There will be plenty of activity in the next few weeks now LVG is in.

I had always been Anti-Muppet, but I have to admit that the Chilean press fooled me on this one and had me go into the muppet dark side.

My original opinion on the Arturo speculation was correct: These rumors were made up as soon as the LVG quotes regardling Vidal were released. It was bullshit.

Time to move on.

So this Guardian article,,,,"he remained on the list retained by United for Louis van Gaal, his successor, to consider. However, the Dutchman recently informed the club executive that he was not currently interested in him."

Done a little search there and cant find any relevant source to back up such a lazy "concrete"statement.

Jaime Jackson in talking shiiite shocker.

Juventus are just trying to milk us,no surprise.

40 million should do it.Seems a lot but id pay it.

How else are they going to seem? Their fans are in meltdown, so they're hardly going to add fuel to the fire by giving any inclination as to Vidal's departure.

I think we've just started to deny everything in the media just in case things don't work out. It's a win-win situation, and we did the same with the Herrera deal really. Ogden said the day all the reports came won't that we firmly denied any interest, and then the next day we agree things officially. Think we're just being more discreet and won't say anything to the media until we actually agree a deal.
