Arturo Vidal

Just watched the kit launch on MUTV, and they were interviewing people, asking them about which new signings they would like to see wearing the shirt. Every and I mean EVERY single person they asked said they wanted Arturo Vidal.:lol:

If this doesn't happen now....

Woodwards boner was clearly visible in the background.

The club are well aware that we want him but can Woody deliver?

well shouldn't they have stated that weeks ago? Sounds like they couldn't get him and now are back tracking.

Whatever the situation, you'd wonder who'll we'll end up with. We seem completely incapable these days of signing genuinely world class players in their prime these days, either we go for youth with potential or players coming up the wrong side of 30's!

Christ this is a tired line. How about RVP? Signed right after by far the best season of his life, and proceeded to continue at those heights in his debut for us - comfortably the best striker in the league over those two seasons. Mata? Signed after being named Chelsea's player of the season two years running, one of the top two #10s in the league. De Gea? Young, yes, but young in the sense of 'already comfortably the best young goalkeeper in the world' when we signed him.

I think when people say that, they must mean "arguably the best player in his position in the world".

In which case it's the sort of whiningly specific moan best left untyped. Yes, signing members of the World XI is difficult. Shock horror.

Plus, not that it's an argument I have to win, but RVP had a very good shout at being seen as the best #9 in the world when we signed him. He'd outperformed Suarez that season, so it was pretty much him, Falcao (am I right with the timing here?) or Ibra and his Ligue 1 free ride.

Has any club in Premier League done that?

Actually signing a player considered "the best in the world in his position" happens very rarely as to achieve that status they are generally at their peak, at a good club where they are happy. Go back through the years and count how many actually come under that bracket. It's probably 1 every 3 years or so at most, probably much less.

Exactly. Madrid do it. Almost no-one else does with any sort of regularity.

I've missed a whole day on here, shock horror, but I can't be bothered to read through all those pages!

What happened on today's episode of RedCafe? Any developments on Vidal? Anyone got banned for WUMing? Spill it all.

Nope, nothing much.

For more detail, read through the fecking thread like everyone else has had to.

(Kidding I am. Genuinely nothing of any substance has happened.)

Juve said "we do not plan to put Vidal up for sale".

Which obviously means they aren't going to send a fax out to all the top clubs in Europe minus rivals minus Italian league saying that he is available for £40m.

They will however accept our bid soon.

Cheers lads. So I haven't missed much then. The bold part though, anything concrete that makes you think that?

We've been promised a busy summer and as happy as I am with Herrera & Shaw, its still absolutely nowhere near good enough and we are at least 3 more players short of catching up with the likes of City, Chelsea & dare I say it now Arsenal. Arsenal are really having a great summer already, Sanchez and from the looks of it now Khedera. We fell behind the last few years and now it looks like we may well fall further.
Eh? We haven't signed a player over 30 in years. Last one was probably Van der Sar, and he was a keeper. In the long term I can only really think of Sheringham and Blanc. Larsson only on loan. RVP was 29 but slap bang in his peak.

Funny how the bookies have Vidal at 1/16 to sign for us and James Rodriguez 1/7 to sign for Madrid which is pretty much confirmed

It's funny because it's true

For a while I thought SolidShite has logged into your account.

I'm just wish I share your your optimism after years of disappointment. Veron was the last truly world class player whom we got at the peak of his career (though it didn't turn out well in the end).

Really not sure what to think about this after today, obviously Juve were never going to admit something's happening and look weak but it doesn't really look good anymore does it? Literally the only thing to cling to is Andy Mittens video and some reports abroad, have hope things will change for the better but need some positive news soon I think.

Fact is, we need him and he would more than likely be amazing for us for years, we need to over pay if necessary by £5mill or whatever it takes just to get this done and dusted before other clubs come in and show interest. The club have in fairness spent one hell of a lot on transfers lately but at the end of the day, we have ridiculous money coming in from sponsors and can luckily afford to do it so price should not be an issue. Vidal looks open to the move and we've needed a world class CM for a very long time now, come on Woody, give us all a reason to get our wangs out please.

I've laid my account on this one. If he doesn't sign for us, I'm done here.

Edit - actually if we pull the plug because we think his knee is fecked then I'm sticking around.

We want him, he wants us. We are going to pay what it takes.

Again... RVP, Mata. That's two in two years.

Was today's Andy Mitten video posted here, the one where he talks about Vidal and Van Gaal arriving? I'm sure it was but I skipped loads of pages earlier due to the moaning after Juve's statement.

I saw one yesterday where Mitten said we were definitely in talks and wanted to see if Vidal wanted to be a United player. I check this bloody page way too often for some good news but might have missed it.

Sounds like a strapline for movie, class. I like your optimism for laying down the account as well. Hope he comes and you prove the doubters. You could have used another stapline.
'Somewhere, Somehow, Someone's Gonna Pay!'

I think that sounds like the one from yesterday (Tuesday). This is the latest one I've seen;

Not today but there was one yesterday where he talks about Vidal etc.

I just posted the latest video above in case anyone has missed that one.

Cheers for that, hadn't seen that one. Will have to see what info he gets but not looking likely so will probably be linked with someone new soon. Don't believe van Gaal doesn't want Vidal after saying he tried to buy him when he was at Bayern, he's top quality and we can afford £35-£40m or whatever Juve want really. Frustrating the way everyone's in the dark but good if it means United are getting things done behind the scenes while the press have been confused.
