The Figo issue has nothing to do with the Ronaldo issue.

Figo is old. He has little value. Any possible transfer of Ronaldo would have nothing to do with Figo.
 
this cant be true. and even so, we would get more than 30mill for him. ronaldo will stay at united for another couple of years atleast.

- joaquin, a real madrid supporter since he was a kid, is one of camachos targets for the summer.
- reyes seems rather "interested"\horny to join real madrid if the chance comes along.
-ronaldo is a unfinished article, real madrid arent exactly known to buy such players, lets wait until ronnie is 23 and a more complete player, then the biggest clubs will start knocking on his door.
 
I think Nate is trying to say it was only a matter of time until the big clubs start chasing after Ronaldo. He will start to be the centre of attention when the transfer windows open up.

Cristiano Ronaldo has cranked up the pressure on United to pay him £50,000 a week — with Real Madrid ready to meet his pay demands.

The Portuguese winger, 20, wants Old Trafford chiefs to recognise his star status at the club.

And he wants a wage packet to match England striker Wayne Rooney.

Ronaldo is currently on £14,000 a week after taking over David Beckham’s No 7 shirt two years ago when he moved to the Premiership from Sporting Lisbon for £12.4m.

His agent Jorge Mendes has been battling since last year with the United board to land the player the massive pay hike he wants.

Now Real have promised Mendes they will offer Ronaldo the salary he craves if he hands in a transfer request this summer to force United into a deal.

The Spanish giants know there is no way Ferguson would sell one of his brightest prospects unless he had no choice.

Real have identified the Euro 2004 star as the ideal replacement for Luis Figo and a perfect addition to boost their multi-million marketing operation.

Figo could be off to an English club at the end of the season after boss Vanderlei Luxemburgo dropped the former World Player of the Year for the last three games.

Let's sell Ronnie to Madrid and Rooney to Chelsea.

That'll mean we have a very healthy bank balance which is great news for all the amateur accountants here.

I agree Downing is overrated but i would consider England as one of the best teams in world, with players like
Rio - quality prob in top 3 defendeers in world even if he is greedy bastard!
Terry - hate to say it but is quality player continaully getting better with great leadership qualaties
Gaz - Solid right back but suppose i can think of a few better
Ash Cole - prick but is rated as best left back in world atm
Lampard - legend
Gerrard - top quality
12 yr old Joe - finally showing his potential - turning into brilliant player
Beckham - i dont give a crap what anyone on this site says! i watch spainsh league every week and he is showing form where there was no one better on the right! Against donkey Forlans team he was awesome and now hes playing right wing for real more i think he will be much more effective for England - the critisism this guy gets is so unfair at times!
Owen - looking in top form for Real and links up well with Rooney

Diverged slightly from point there but on actual discussion i really dont think Real will come for him yet, maybe when hes reached full potential and taking premiership defences to total shreds! He could go but im not sure he will, i know its spain and will probably suit him better but he looks to be loving challenge in England!

England ARE considered one of the best International teams and have been for as long as I can remember.

Neither Downing nor SWP are considered England regulars.

Don't quite follow your logic tbh

Of all the players in the Premiership I would say Ronnie would be near the top of Real's shopping list. Beckham is more often than not used in the centre and Ronnie (unlike Beckham ) has a decade ahead of him and will be a future superstar of world football IF he continues to improve.

good post.. Downing is way overrated, and IMO we should wait to see him in his 2nd season before rushing to sign him

Can cross and dribble and has got pace, hes a very good well rounded winger, whether hes a one season wonder we cant tell till the end of next year, but hes shown he can play to a great standard.
