Aston Villa v Manchester United

Ronaldo could probably do with a break right now, although i'm not sure if we can afford to choose Villa awayy as that game. He won us the league game there last season, and they'll be a tough outfit. We'll need him.

Please rest Ronaldo. He looked Knackered in that game against Birmingham. WE don't want him to suffer a burn out as there are many games ahead e.g. Champion league.

To rest Ronaldo is the wise decision, he has been playing all the games 3 days in 3 days out. He needs a rest ffs.

Its Fa Cup anyway not the league so we can put him on bench and let Park/Nani have a go.

The last time Rooney got so many games in such a short time he got injured again so we cant take risks with our best player.

I agree that Ronaldo needs a rest very soon. Not sure Villa is the right place though. But even he does start on the bench we have good options on the wing with Giggs, Nani and Park.

Dont know whether ronaldo needs a rest or not, but beside from that why would you rest vids and play pique?

Playing it on FIFA now, I ll tell you what happens

i'm doing it every time before a game, and sometimes unbelievable things happen, such as 4:2 v Everton with Eagles scoring the 4th, i did it in FIFA and then i was watching and thinking i'm nostradamus, spooky :nervous:

Is Brown suspended against Villa or Newcastle? five yellow cards this season-

Who'd you pick if we decided to rest Ronnie.... Park or Nani?

Park brings experience, unbelievable energy, better decision making, more maturtiy etc

Nani brings more direct pace, better crossing, better shooting

Dodgy to rest key players, Villa won't be.

Good point, save for Ronaldo, a player so good, he only needs a minute, let alone a half to show he is the best player on the pitch.

Think Ronaldo may actually be on the bench for this one. He played in every Christmas fixture so the boss might feel he derseves/needs a little rest. I still have him on the bench just in case, mind.

Also want to Anderson get forward more. Been very impressed with his displays but I sure he can do a whole lot more in the final third.

Villa are a much tougher prospect than the team we faced a couple of months back. I expect there to be a few goals in this 2-4 Utd !!

United facing Cup crisis

Manchester United could be facing a mini striker crisis after Sir Alex Ferguson revealed Carlos Tevez is a doubt for their FA Cup clash with Aston Villa.

Tevez was United’s star man as he scored the only goal in their 1-0 victory over Birmingham on Tuesday, but he was forced to limp off with 20 minutes to go with an ankle injury.

The Argentine was the victim of a tackle from behind by Liam Ridgewell, and he spent 40 minutes of the encounter wincing his way through the match.

With Wayne Rooney still sidelined by a virus, United could be left with just one striker – Louis Saha – for their cup date with Villa.

"It was a bad tackle and the longer the game went on, the worse the injury got," said Ferguson of Tevez’s injury, which saw him need help to leave the pitch.

"In the end, we had to bring Carlos off. We will assess him tomorrow to see what the damage is but he is doubtful for Saturday now."

Ferguson is more hopeful over Rooney, revealing: "It would have been a bit of a risk to play Wayne today but he should be fine for Saturday."

 a crisis is not meant to be mini. i don't know why they always insist on using that word.

anyway, tevez will be fine in no time.

prediction: 4-0 to us Rooney with all the goals

I'd like to see it freshened up it a bit

GK: PIG or VDS if he's fit

RB: O'Shea
CB: Ferdinand
CB: Vidic
LB: Evra - If we had decent cover here I'd rest him. You could play O'Shea and then bring in Pique at RB but that might be unsettling. I think Brown could do with a rest.

RM: Park
CM: Anderson
CM: Hargreaves
LM: Nani

CF: Rooney
CF: Saha

Ronaldo needs a rest. It´s best both for him and the team, we can´t burn him out. We´ll obviously miss him but we have a good squad who can do a job without him. We did the last time we played at Villa Park, remember? Somebody will probably mention the Bolton game but we were also without Vidic and Rooney that day.

Giggs and Nani on the flanks, Park on the bench. Should be able to do a job. Anderson and Hargreaves in midfield, defence pretty much picks itself, Brown - Vidic - Rio - Evra, VDS between the sticks if fit, Kuszczak otherwise.

Don´t need to take any risks with Teveth so Saha will probably be with Rooney up front.

1 - 3, Anderson, Hargreaves and Evra, Agbonlahor for them.

Tevez still a doubt, but Fergie will still give him every chance of playing.

I reckon the 7/2 odds on a Villa win is great value. Let's face it, Villa are exactly the type of team that will take advantage of any lack of desire on our part.

And I expect a weakened team tomorrow. The likes of Rio and Ronaldo will surely be rested so it's hard to see us winning. All I'm really hoping for is a good performance from Rooney. We really need him fit and in top form for the league and CL, which are the priorities.

He needs rest. If he's rested for this game, he'll get a week rest and he can fly back to his mom.

If they were planning on let him go home for the weekend he wouldn't have been in training today, but he was (and wearing boots of a disturbingly orange colour - that's him off to Valencia then).

Maybe without Roo getting ill, Tevez getting hurt and Saha not getting anywhere fast - they'd have rested him over Christmas. Now we're out of that four games in nine days thing I'm not sure they'll bother.
