Aston Villa vs Manchester United [13/Nov/2010]

Yet another rubbish away performance. Not even surprising. Will be shocked if we win this.

Positives:
Old carrick is back

Negatives:
So is old berba.

Anyway I know he's public enemy number 1 but when the hell does Wayne Rooney return?

matchday threads are hilarious

Dare i say, Rooney can't come back into the team soon enough.

He should feature next week.

What Rooney said was true, we need some quality investment. We have become a very good workman like side but we lack that quality needed to challenge for the big honours. I am afraid without investment to move us on we will have to get used to performances like this. Its very frustrating I am just hoping we can nick this 1-0 right now.

fingers crossed for a better second half (the ref included).I feel like we're gonna concede from a push inside the penalty box that the ref won't spot.

Not finding cover for Scholes is looking more and more a mistake with every toothless away game

True the players out there aren't performing but there's no penetration without Giggs and Scholes at all. Berbatov is slowing us down and Hernandez isn't finding the space

We are in desperate need of a strong and creative playmaking midfielder that has been becoming kore and more obvious over the past 2 years and this season it's a matter of high importance and needs to be addressed. Fletcher for all his energy hasnt got a great brain nor the ability to dictate possession. Carrick needs a ball player next to him. Park is mr average/ reliable and is ok if you have a negative mindset. We are second rate and this midfield problem only makes players around them look worse.

If things continue like this for the first 15 minutes, what would you guys to do change this.. bench isn't looking particularly strong.

I'd take Berba off and put on Obertan, moving Nani behind Chico...

VDS
Brown Rio Vidic Evra
Carrick Fletcher
Obertan Nani Park
Hernandez

But seriously I hope it doesn't come to that and Berba comes out all guns blazing second half.

The Berba bashing in here is pathetic.

We don't seem to have any sort of attacking plan at all.

He's been poor but he's most definitely not the only one. Carrick's once again been good though. Glad to see him improving. Anyway we'll surely improve in the second half. Need to win and keep up some pressure on Chelsea.

He has to stay up? Why? Nani, Chicharito and Park have all contributed matchwinning efforts in the past month so we should be looking at it as a positive that we don't have to rely on any one player?

Nani and Chicharito have both been a lot worse than him anyway, strangely, so why not single out them?

Agendas...

Like I say the whole team is poor so far today. Nani just has not been involved and Hernandez looks all over the place, but you have to forgive him. Still so new to the PL, he is bound to be inconsistent.

Berbatov is our senior player up front and he has a certain amount of responsibility, but he has fecked up everything he has tried thus far.

They really are shit Deco.I'm not gonna lie to myself just to ease my mind about this awful performance.

Its not a simple maths equation. Theres alot of other factors involved. Im convinced Berba has to be only 70% at best. He's a shadow of the player that we saw a few months ago. Playing a team of kids can be difficult aswell especially in the first half. I expect us to have a bit more time on the ball in the 2nd. Once Carrick gets that I expect us to do some damage. A yellow for Hogg is only a matter of time. Chelsea dropped points here not so long ago.

Carrick started well but then suddenly turned into shit Carrick again and started ballooning passes around.

So have all of our players had their balls removed at some point since the Wolves game then?

Our tempo in this and the City game has been genuinely pathetic.

I've decided to blame it on the virus. If they have had a couple of sickie days each, they'll still be feeling rough.

Berbatov being a bit lazy aside is one of our few quality attacking players we need to hope him or Nani pull us out of this.

our away form is poor, another draw is no good for us.....:(

so double standards

Berbatov has been nowhere near the worst player on the pitch for us - see Hernandez or Nani, or Park, especially his first touch today.

Except that Berbatov isn't even trying. He's let several crosses go without even attempting a challenge. Just watches them go past. Then he refuses to pass to Nani because they don't like each other. At least the others are trying occasionally.

2nd half coming up now, get out of the match thread and watch the game! :D

Dare i say, Rooney can't come back into the team soon enough.

He is still our best player, even if some people don't like him anymore. He would have attacked the six yard box with more intent than our strikers today.
