Aston Villa Vs Manchester United

If we struggle against THAT midfield, we have serious problems

Can't feckin wait to see Carrick piss yet again on European opposition. Against Basel.

They certainly hire their fair share of morons. Burley, Champion, Savage and Waddle are all insufferable

You'd think basic criteria would be the ability to pronounce common football terms, such as 'penalty' in order to be a commentator.

Just saw City's score, it doesn't exactly make this a must win but if we don't it's going to be a hard road ahead.

I like the team selection, I'm thinking Jones will have a bit of freedom whilst Carrick sits. It's our best front 4 as well with Welbeck giving us a great option from the bench as a straight swap or an option to alter formation.

Jones is so fecking wasted as a fullback. The man is the most exciting thing in England next to no one. He's a fecking monster.

Cleverley and Wilshere?

But I do agree, those 3 will rule the midfield for the next 10 years.

Giggsy needs to play. For me he is our only player who can play a 'creative' (yawn) final killer ball. Without Giggs, Hernandez will be feeding just off of corners and crosses.

Aston Villa's home record against Manchester United is beyond pathetic. Since winning The Alan Hansen Game® on the opening day of the 1995/96 season, they've beaten United once in 20 league and cup games on their own patch. That was a 3-0 League Cup win in October 1999, against a team containing Michael Twiss, Luke Chadwick, Ronnie Wallwork, Michael Clegg, John Curtis and Jordi Cruyff.

Charles N'Zogbia isn't in the Villa squad, you'll note. He's broken some club rule or other, and as a direct consequence, Alex McLeish is with the rage.

Both Giggs and Fletcher are going to be needed during the week as the only two senior midfielders actually able to play the game. Anyway I'm pretty confident we can be creative without Giggs, that's why we have Nani, Young and Rooney.

ESPN is really bloody awful.

Classic, the classic, er.....classic.

Well, Smalling, Vidic, Rio and Evra, right? Surely that means Jones in midfield.

Yeah looks it. I just hope it's not a three. Rooney in the hole is perfect. Any deeper is overkill, especially with Hernandez up top.

Can we please score more than once and win it for a change?

I don't think it will be, either a 442 with Nani, Carrick, Jones and Young or a 4231 with a line of Nani, Rooney and Young behind Chicharito.
