Chico on.
Scholes made two very bad errors which could have led to goals, and for that it has to go down as a poor half.
Other than that he's been the hub of the team, everything goes through him, he is always available, he always wants the ball, he gets it and uses it to create space. Yes often he's played it simple - that's what good CMs do for the most part. Other times he's played good long balls out to the wings. He hasn't set the game alight but you can't just blame him for our performance, half our players have been shite.
I wouldn't play Scholes in a 2 because we're vulnerable on the counter, and in a 2 with Carrick we lack pace and dynamism. But he's still run the game.
Wow, we actually changed it at half time.

When was last time Scholes-Carrick worked well for us in midfield ?
What the bejesus is up with RvP today?
Absolutely wank performance from Young. Hasn't had a good one in forever it seems like. Probably need to go back to last season in the 8-2 against the gooners?

That's the problem really. When Scholes plays he becomes a liability defensively and our whole style is altered for everything to go through him and it leads to a very slow and static kind of football especially when you pair him with Carrick (a pretty static player anyway). I'm sure there will be games it will work well but more often than not of late it's become a real issue.
Basically Scholes and Carrick don't have enough legs in midfield for me. You can call it controlling if you like but I didn't see any penetrattion in our play because our two CM's can barely move.
He hasn't had a sniff. Only getting it when he comes deep.
