Aston Villa vs. Manchester United

Scholes, Carrick and Valencia, yes. Rooney and RVP are strikers, they need the midfield to be working. Scholes and Young shouldn't have started, Cleverley and Anderson should. It gets more obvious with every game.

There's nothing wrong with Scholes starting. He's our best midfielder. But he shouldn't start in a 2.

Our wingers seem very reluctant to try and beat a man

Valencia off form is very easy to limit, because you just show him inside, onto his non-existent foot. Young seems to have forgotten that wingers are supposed to actually do anything.

Anderson Cleverley Anderson Cleverley Anderson Cleverley......

It's always so frustrating when Valencia cuts in like that, because since he doesn't have a left foot he'll always end up passing it back to the midfielders rather than whipping it in from a different angle.

We're too bloody casual out there.

Opponents may respect a few of our individuals but the team carries little fear factor at the mo.

Scholes looks off the pace.

They look pointless because the formation (mainly the midfield) doesnt work. Thats what I meant - its not their fault, its the formation. I agree Cleverley or Anderson should play, maybe both. But then one of them would be in a winger-ish position. Probably Cleverley on the left-ish.

When is Ireland going to be booked for persistent fouling?

Wow a passage of 1 touch play...

They really look at every small little thing to find stuff to see the ref helps United. feck off Sky Sports.

Sky = ABU

So our best midfielder is one who can't function well in a midfield two? Doesn't sound like a great midfielder to be honest. I love Scholes and on his day he's still great but he isn't our best midfielder anymore. His top level is still the highest but regularly you want to play Carrick and Cleverley over him. Getting about the pitch and putting in a proper shift is part of being a midfielder.

The ref must have had that whistle as an early Xmas present.

This is the kid of game we usually drop points in (not Villa specifically, but against crap opposition after a few wins in 'bigger games'
