1. CR
2. Falcao

Someone has to slap him for the suits. Christ.

Admittedly, the hair cuts have gotten better though.

Well deserved his win.Ronaldo had a real shout at the start of the season but the way Messi kicked things off and kept going made it impossible for him

How is RVP below the likes of Casillas and Drogba. He's been the best player in England in 2012.

Interesting points

@ Giddy English commentators - two keepers on there and no Joe Hart.
@ Glastonspud - Rooney placed 15th and no Bale.
@ The Guardian - Rooney placed ahead of Aguero.

Because most footballers and indeed coaches are quite thick. And this award is all about voting for your mates. National coaches shouldn't be allowed to vote for their own players, now that is a nonsense.

next year's ballon d'or:

1. Messi 2. Iniesta/Xavi 3. RvP

Messi and barca to smash points record and goal record in la liga.
Iniesta or xavi for their performance barca winning la liga and spain winning confed cup.
rvp for his 45 goal haul en route to Treble.

The whole awards should be voted for by the 50000 professional footballers, instead of just the team, even Messi has just voted for his pals.

If we win the Treble, RVP will win it.

Pep won a Copa del Rey. :D

Pep was getting long service award votes (4 years is a long time in La Liga) and retrospective votes for the treble, which predated the award and the team in general.

@ Glastonspud - Rooney placed 15th and no Bale.
@ The Guardian - Rooney placed ahead of Aguero.

He was fifth last year, goes to show how big an impact major tournaments can have. Same goes with RVP's lack of votes.

Apparently the media vote went like this:

Messi 13.56%
C.Ronaldo 8.76%
Iniesta 4.92%
Casillas 1.68%
Falcao 1.12%
Xavi 0.90%
Drogba 0.81%
Pirlo 0.79%
van Persie 0.43%
Yaya Touré 0.11%

The players shouldn't vote at all. What player has time to keep up with all the other leagues?

Are you serious? Who does have time to keep up with the other leagues? Footballers work 3 hours most days. From 50000 votes from around the world, you would get the most balanced view that you can.

Journalists? Kouroux? I don't know. But when you have Benzema getting a first place vote, it is time to reevaluate the process.

You will always get crazy votes, the Georgia captain voted Rooney as no 1 . The more 'expert' opinion that you can get, the more balanced a result you will get..................in theory. Journalists can't be trusted, they once voted David Ginola as player of the year over here!

You've convinced me. A random number generator is the best way to go.

Portugal making Alves vote just so Ronaldo can get a vote is just pathetic

But seriously, let fans vote online and combine it with journalists and a couple of players. Some of these votes are just pathetic.

Casilas thinking Ramos is the best player in the world is as funny as it gets.

I agree. Looking at the voting pattern I am not sure whether its even meant to be taken seriously.

I certainly do not want fans voting for "legit" awards seeing as how they select their all-star teams and whatnot. You'll no doubt have Liverpool fans voting in the millions and suddenly Suarez is the Ballon D'or winner.

Well of course you will. But not every fan gets their own vote. You could have each continent's fans get a ballot or something.

I don't think that'll change the results. You'll get pathetic votes in the same percentage, and (like it was here) in the end those votes won't matter, because the majority will decide it.

At least now we can see who voted for whom, and we can name and shame, unlike in an online poll for everybody..
