Barcelona are to sue former player Neymar over his 222m euro (£200m) world record move to Paris St-Germain.

The Brazil international made the move to the French club after they met his buyout clause earlier this month.

Barcelona are claiming breach of contract over a bonus payment triggered when Neymar signed a new five-year contract with them in October 2016.

The Spanish club say they are seeking "8.5m euros (£7.8m) in damages, and an additional 10% in interest".

More to follow.

Actually they are suing for the 26-32mi they paid him last season as an advance on the renewal, 8mi in damages + 10% for the delay in paying back

Just looks bitter. I've no idea who is right/wrong in this case but it just feels like Barca are bitter that they got done by PSG.

They should move on now and get all their young players sign deals with billion euro release clauses.

The only thing that comes out of the whole Neymar-Barca contract fights, is the amount of money given to Neymar by Barca to get him there.. Looking from the outside,no wonder Madrid couldn't afford him.. They are some very shrewd business men in Madrid for sure or Barca were just hell bent on getting him by hook or crook in the first place.. Pretty funny that after paying him all this,he still jumped ship..

Good to see Barca stand up for the integrity of player contracts.

Lol Barcelona are becoming highly embarrassing. This was the best run club five years ago. Now, shambles over one transfer.

Barca are now making themselves look even more trifling and desperate than they already are

The fact that they ask PSG to pay up if the player can not when it's a matter between Barcelona and Neymar shows that it's pure bitterness and pettiness.

Oh dear. Not sure who is more whiny. The club or their fans:D

Very debatable, for example, given the offenses they committed which led to the transfer ban.

And people felt sorry for them . What a bunch of clowns, La Liga with RM and Barca a circus, for years they stood on other clubs necks, tapping up and all kinds of classless shit, now someone else stood up on their neck and they cry like bitches, cant accept it so they gonna sue haha

Loving all the drama over this transfer. Would be nice if something like this happens with Madrid too

Maybe we can file something against Real Madrid regarding Ronaldo?

Please, help me understand.

Barcelona offers money for him to sign a contract.

He signs the contract and received the money.

Barcelona puts a low buyout clause for the caliber of that player.

Some club full of money pays the buyout clause and offers lots of money

Neymar accepts and goes away

Barcelona want the money they offered for him to sign the contract that he signed?

Barca trying their best to show their bitterness to the world. Neymar just called out their board so I can see why they would want payback.

Of course the "Juxjat Social de Barcelona" will favour the club and Neymar will have to appeal to a higher, unbiased jurisdiction.

And we want that hoody you borrowed from us too when you stayed over.

Probably shouldn't have put his loyalty bonus before the end of the window then, you dopey cnuts.

Neymar should request tge case to be transferred to the Madrid jurisdiction.

They've been had by Neymar's team. They've played them all along and Barca are fuming. Even the loyalty bonus payment was triggered slap bang in the middle of the transfer window. Neymar has actually plunged them into a mini crisis and they hate him. It's freaking hilarious.

All the while we are 4 and a half months away from being able to sign Messi on a free...

Borussia Dortmund CEO hints Barcelona are no longer a ‘big and respectable club’ over pursuit of Ousmane Dembele

Hans-Joachim Watkze has also revealed the German club won't sell the French star for a penny under their asking price

BORUSSIA DORTMUND CEO Hans-Joachim Watkze has claimed Barcelona is Ousmane Dembele’s first choice destination… but says the Spanish giants lack class.

The German giants’ chief has revealed Barca are “special” to Dembele and both parties are well suited to each other.

However, Watzke added they would not budge on the asking price saying they wouldn’t sell him for a penny under their asking price.

Dembele is the La Liga club’s first-choice to replace Neymar, with their pursuit of Liverpool‘s Philippe Coutinho still not coming to a head.

And on his star man, Watzke said: “Dembele is Barcelona’s first choice.

“They have neither a plan B nor C because they know how good he is. We met on a Thursday with Barca, and on Friday he didn’t show up for training.

“A coincidence? Two weeks ago, I considered Barca to be a big and respectable club, but I’m not so sure anymore.

“He’s a boy of 20-years-old and he isn’t mature, but he wouldn’t do this for another team in the world.

All the while we are 4 and a half months away from being able to sign Messi on a free...
Is that true? If it is, he is going to be the first million/week player.
He can get a million a week and a 5 year contract.. easily.. And it'd still be less than his release clause of 300m.

This is not a move by Neymar team, this has been done with all our important players to accommodate wages

The problem is, this was bound to happen and basically Neymar was the best bet to reach this situation, I'm not specially savvy financially and yet...

Well if he has a year left he can sign a pre contract agreement in January with another club
