Not as many players seem up for this match as they did against Newcastle, in particular Giggs and Ole, though I suppose Silvestre has been quiet too. We've had no width at all. The players are cropping up all over the place and don't seem to know or feel comfortable with their formation at all.

Fergusson should have kept the winning team, and Veron on the feck*n bench. If I was a player, I wouldn't want to play knowing no matter what I do, I'm going to be dropped the next game, or change my position or some other sh**e. Who's going to grab this game by the scuff of the neck and get a result from it? Nobody looks like doing so far. Great captain's performance by Giggs. Scholes looks as though he's intent on replaying his role against Sweden at Wembley a few years back. Diving in everywhere.

With O'Shea at left back, we need Giggs huging the touchline more than EVER now because we don't have Silvestre's runs to compensate.

i wish giggsy would actually take on players. he hasn't even tried that in the entire first half. very disappointing.
quite funny, but currently the joke is on you... a great football night for basel and a great honour for us to be playing vs manchester.. only sorry we don't get to see the real manchester - currently in everybody's opinion the most powerful club in europe, even the world. looking forward to the next 45 minutes and still have tears in my eyes that I couldn't get my hands on two tickets - just one, so I sent my boyfriend. let's enjoy - but I guess we win *sorry*.

Agree with Giggzy that we miss Blanc defending AND attacking corners/free kicks. We're not winning much in the air.

I should be jumping for joy (and I will in the Football Forum later if this turns out to be a good result for Pool fans), but right now for some reason I can empathise (and even sympathise) with the Utd fans.

They are packing there defence and asking us to break it down - which we've shown for a long time now we are not very good at. We need to sit bakc let them come on to us, hustle them and hit them on the break - like we used to. They are playing the game perfectly at the moment I think. We are not.

barthez needs to be more alert coming out to collect balls being passed through. That's twice he should have come and left it to the defenders. It cost us a corner there.
