Perfect first half. Quick tempo, creating chances, solid enough defensively. Giggs, Evans, Kagawa and Tony V doing fantastic. Rio looks a bit knackered, Nani needs to get more involved. Other than that no complaints.

Impressive performance, pleasing on the eye too!

Rio is definitely passed it. Today, Sunday, West Brom...proof is piling up.
:(
Sad, but I said it a few weeks ago. The signs are obvious. Unfortunately he's the best available, we need to buy so many players it's not funny.

We are doing something today that we havent done in some of our poor games and thats having players running with the ball as well as 1 touch passing routines. In our poor games we havent dribbled at defenders or run into spaces and the variety today in dribbling and passing has us playing well.

Well that half was refreshing. Forward passing, creativity and urgency. Why can't we try and play like this all the time? Our midfield has carried so much threat every time we get on the ball.

We can't just sit on this lead though. They'll try and up the tempo a bit more and we need to be ready to counter them. We've got pace on the wings to hurt them.

Yeah. I think he's just afraid to feck up in case he gets dropped for 5 games again.

Nice to see Nani putting in a couple of tackles though, hope he has a good game for his confidence, when Nani plays well he is a big asset, just wish he was more consistent in that.

Not bad to absolutely dominate the second best team in the Bundesliga this season without our best defender, midfielder and striker.

Phiggs have been brilliant in midfield.

Superb first forty-five minutes of football.

This is what we're capable of and is why us fans get frustrated when Moyesie chooses to be pragmatic, which in his first few months in office, is understandable to an extent. We have some very talented players at our disposal.

Jesus how are Leverkusen so poor at home? They won 4-0 against Shaktar here! Anyway, perfect half really. Controlled performance, some nice breakaways, two goals up and never really in trouble at the back (that Kiessling move past a static Rio being the closest to real trouble). Feels nice for once.

This might actually turn out to be our best game of the season so far! Against the second place in Bundesliga. Away. Without Carrick, Rafael, Vidic and RVP:eek:

Loved this half. All the players out there have performed well. If they keep this up, it's gonna be impossible to choose the top 3 in the MOTM thread.

Loved the first goal! When was the last time we scored on a counter-attack with 4 players involved in the move? Brilliant stuff!

excellent first half

Rooney - simply amazing this season

Valencia - continuously improving compared to last season (which isn't saying much, I know, but still worth a mention)

Kagawa - doing his thing, hopefully this will be the Kagawa we see more of from now on

Jones - what can I say, I'm really, really glad Fergie signed him, he's just immense, and so much time left to improve I'm not sure I'm even ready to imagine what kind of beast he could turn out to be...oh and it doesn't even matter if he's playing as a midfielder or a CB, he's just fantastic lately

Giggs - still not changing my mind about him not playing all that much, but my goodness is he a talent. looks a class above every other midfielder out there today.

Evans - thank you for that tackle, had that shot gone in we wouldn't have scored the 1st goal immediately after their failed corner, and it's safe to say it's been a game-changer for us in that sense.

Its going to be a season of 2 steps forward and then 1 step back. We will look great in one game and then be out of sorts in the next. thats what I expect of this season anyway.

Now this is more like it, just like a vintage away European performance.
Spot on, and 2-0 doesn't flatter us, we look hungry for more.

A good comfortable half, except 1-2 nervy moments but that is to be expected with weakened midfield and playing in CL away. Keep the composure and we should see this through. If it stays same till 60 min, Bayer will get more adventurous giving us chance to grab a 3rd and put it to bed. We shouldn't alter the formation in haste or go defensive to protect what we have too early in 2nd half.

Imagine Rafael for Smalling, Smalling for Rio and a proper midfielder instead of a 40 years old legend. Then we are quite good :-)

Does Rooney hate passing to Nani? Loads of times where Nani seems to be the obvious option to play the ball to, but he turns away and looks for someone else. Rooney look pissed when Nani blundered the counter towards the end.

Almost too easy, this. Let's stay focused as all hell in the second half. Nani looks sharp to me - that pleases me. Almost as much as Giggsy's calm and collected display. Back four looking sharp too - apart from Chris' horrible attempts at being somewhat offensive, that is. But feck that. He's containing 'em when they come. We're beating these feckers easily - just keep it up.

The obvious answer is that them three have held us back this whole season. Sell em.

We've been much better in terms of movement and passing.

I'd expect Leverkusen to improve in the 2nd half though, they've not played anywhere near as well as they have in the league so far, the opposite of us.

Looking sharp in the attack but pretty dodgy in defence. But hey much prefer this to the cak we served up in Cardiff.

Kagawa as number 10 and Nani in the game and we suddenly have the best game of all season with great team-play and style. Even with Nani/Kagawa rusty from not playing in so long and a new midfield.
Hopefully Moyes learns his lesson.

Also I need to give props to Giggs for his performance so far.

Maybe as good as we have been under Moyes, excellent stuff. I do think Jones should be first choice CM, he is excellent there.

Carragher: the left back doesn't even know Valencia's there
Schmeichel: it's not the left back it's the number 10.

We've been much better.

They've been rubbish though, putting us under no pressure whatsoever which is what we find hard to deal with.

Should we take bets on which one of Carragher or Sourness will say something positive about us first?
