Moyes haven't got much faith in Ando, has he?

Jones and Giggs starting ahead of him speaks volumes about his chances here.

CONFIRMED MUFC XI:

de Gea

Smalling
Ferdinand
Evans
Evra

Valencia
Jones
Giggs
Nani

Kagawa
Rooney

SUBS: Lindegaard, Buttner, Anderson, Cleverley, Young, Hernandez, Welbeck.

Positives;
Nani starting a game.
Kagawa in the hole and Rooney up top.
Jones will protect Back four

Negatives;
Smalling ain't no full back and we will lose some of Valencia's effectiveness as a result.
Giggs and Jones in midfield lacks pace and cohesion.

Rafael still out. Would've liked to see Valencia at RB, Smalling at CB for pace and probably Welbeck on the left, but it's a decent team. Kagawa behind Rooney, about time. We will have problems in the centre though, Rio/Giggsy is asking for trouble IMO. Jones has to have a fantastic day to cover for Giggs.

As good as a lineup we could have put out really if Rafael is still out (him not being on the bench points to him not being ready yet, although these journalists have to start asking where the feck Rafael is so we get some updates rather then how RVP's toe is doing.

Kagawa has an important role to play. He needs to help out the midfield as much as he can defensively and still be able to link up well with Rooney. Hope he has a good game, especially as he's in his favoured position.

Fairly happy with that. Kagawa in the hole behind Rooney was what everyone wanted.

It won't work if we struggle to keep the ball in the midfield, which with a midfield of Giggs and Jones seems like a very real possibility. Kagawa will end up being the furthest player up the pitch and I don't think he's capable of playing that role. Rooney always comes deep to receive the ball, especially if the team isn't dominating the game. He's not an out-and-out lead the line type striker.

vidic rafael and rvp still out?
three players who never have a bad game for us.
any solid news on when they are expected to be back?

Never had a bad game? Rafael and Vidic have had some absolute shockers for us. RVP less so but there have been a few games where he has misfired completely.

Rooney as the main striker, Kagawa in the middle and Nani.... It's what a lot have been asking for most of the season.

If Rafael isn't even up to being in the match squad then why on earth did he travel to Germany in the first place?

I think Jones and Giggs are OK in CM for pace and whatnot. Giggs is still quite peppy and Jones has more than enough pace.

My biggest gripe is Smalling at RB. Fabio should be playing. Moyes is starting to bug me with that. No other top team would do what he does, and Ferguson did, if they could help it. We lose too much going forward.

I'm looking forward to Kagawa -> Rooney!

Nani starting is a joy :)

I'm unsure about Rio two matches in a row though.

Damn, that was a messy post.

It's a little ridiculous that our 4 best outfield players from last season are all injured at the same time

Our only right back, our only midfielder, our best center back and then Van Persie.
It's a testament to our squad that we can put out a lineup like that when you have players like those 4 out and still have a solid bench. Our only players in that lineup that are out of place are Smalling really. The midfield is standard for United these days.

How can Anderson not get a game ahead of Giggs?

Cover in case of an injury to either of Ferdinand, Evans or Smalling during the game.
I understand that, but what happens if one of them get injured in the first 10 minutes?
My point is if he's fit enough to sit on the bench he should be fit enough to play the whole game, if he's not he, should not be in the squad.
He's a young fella, who's only been out a couple off weeks, he should still be match fit. Or maybe I'm being odd.
Edit: Just noticed he not on the bench.

Not greatly confident, do prefer Jones in CM to anywhere else though.

Giggs in CM over Cleverly and Anderson :wenger:

Giggs in a European game where he's already proven this season that he can run the game vs Clev who was tragically bad against Arsenal and Anderson who should have been out of the club two years ago.

Rooney as the main striker, Kagawa in the middle and Nani.... It's what a lot have been asking for most of the season.
Lets hope giggs and wonder man can control the midfield and get them the service they need.

Rafael is up there as one of our most consistent players really. He hardly ever has poor games these days.

A glimpse of what our future was planned to be sometime before the middle of August last year.

If only we had actual central midfielders behind them.

Giggs has been good in Europe this season. I'm more hopeful than I was before I saw the team.

I'm praying that Rafa is still 'not ready'. I have this terrible feeling Moyes may view Smalling as his right back. If so, he can do one. It must be stressed, if.

It would be nice if Carrick was in behind Shinji in midfield but in terms of going forward, it's good on paper.

PLAY-A-MAKER!:drool::drool:

After 18 competitive games under Moyes, Kagawa is finally allowed to start a game in his favored position. He'll probably have to play the game of his life for Moyes to even consider playing him there on a regular basis, though. But it's a start!!

Good balanced side, more confident on seeing the team, Giggs is the only concern, plenty of experience but fitness a worry, Jones will need to counter Giggs lack of mobility with his.
