I can see us going out on away goals. Neither side really looks like scoring, although we've probably had the better chances.
Rooney needs to be more direct and get shots in. Hes trying to play intricate passes in those key areas when he should just shoot.

Nope. It's just not as easy when one goal can knock you out.
Even the best teams look nervy when it's close. Remember Chelsea away to barca when they were cruising against 10 men Chelsea and Chelsea still won. I think we have better attacking options then a Torres led Chelsea!
