I assume Taylor isn't one of the ones banned?

Maybe Fergie'll be round with the banning stick soon enough.

Very good to hear from the boss about it anyway.

I do value the journalist work and I think that they add spice to football. On the other hand attacking a kid just to get 1 against his manager is disgusting.

SAF is immense, total solidarity for his players and this can only help Bebe settle.

Taylor is acting like a total Bebe monitor.

Hahahaha. Bebe Monitor.

Childish twats making shit up like that. Good thing is it will only hurt them in the long run.

Hahaha - what a tosser DT is. What part of he isn't up to our levels of fitness does he not understand?

DT: "Hmm I was made to look an idiot ... well not really hard"
DT: "I know, I'll tweet a question the masses will maybe bite at ..."

Useless git .... maybe the Caf should ban his tweets and such from being posted as even possible rumour/news.

Daniel Taylor (Twitter): Fergie says Bebe wasn't fit enough to play for #MUFC reserves in midweek, but hasn't he played six pre-season matches in Portugal?

Does this thundering idiot not understand that 6 pre-season games in Portugal doesn't take a player from Portugese 3rd Division fitness levels to Manchester United fitness levels???

His pre-season was with a Portugese 1st division club, to be fair.

I don't fully get the fitness thing actually. He can't have been significantly less fit than Anderson, for example.

What bugs me is that there are dozens of other perfectly good reasons for him not starting that game, yet Taylor has decided to spread this bullshit about his touch not being up to scratch.

His touch is hardly going to improve massively in the coming weeks, so it's ridiculous to suggest that was the main reason he didn't start the game. It would be like saying we didn't play Smalling because we decided he wasn't good enough in the air yet.

Man but I really really really want Bebe to be a success now.

It's still a bit of a longshot though.

Daniel Taylor (Twitter): is an idiot.

Mentally and psysically it's a new ball games. Him trying to justify his bullshits a joke. The kid can't even speak English. It was a cheap shot at best and if that's his best then he should write about something he knows something about. Having a wank would probably be his topic of choice.

ando has been training for almost 3 weeks whereas the bebe has missed a lot of training in the recent past with the transfer going through and him moving to another country

and also the fact that ando probably has to be fasttracked (in some respects) while the bebe will be in the reserves for the near future, no need to rush him in

The lack of fitness thing may well be true but whether or not it's got anything to do with him being picked for the reserve derby is neither here nor there. What's irritating about Daniel Taylor's agenda is that he seems absolutely determined to make a massive deal about someone from our reserves not being selected for one reserve game. A game in which an unusual amount of first-team players were accommodated. It's retarded tbh.

I reckon now it's a case of his trying not to look like an idiot for twittering (twitting?) what SAF has denied. His views may well become more entrenched as he seeks to save face. The truth will become the first casualty.

SAF brought this on himself imo. Shouldn't have admitted to signing a player without having actually watched them, esp. given the circumstances.

True. Which might expect the venom in his response to the articles in the press. He's probably as annoyed with himself as he is with anyone else.

in the meantime a crap journalist is managing to get a lot of exposure....

Taylor's getting all defensive now, doesn't think what he did constitutes "an attack." Journalists can be such sociopathic scum.

This just in, sources close to the Guardian tell me Daniel Taylor is regarded as being shit as his job, I've no actual evidence to speak of, but I'm going to run it in my national newspaper anyway, hopefully it'll inspire the rest of the gutter dwellers to copy me. I reckon I'll contrive some inane logic to prove it...ah yes, Taylor never gets on football weekly, he must be shit.

If you run a national news-paper, give me a job. I can write really well.

For example,

Forsooth, did Daniel Taylor follow Gary Glitter
not on the radio, alas, but on that famous Twitter
Not long now, until DT, takes one up the shitter.

Boss springs to Bebe's defence

Sir Alex Ferguson has dismissed reports that new signing Bebe has failed to impress in his first few weeks as a United player, launching an impassioned defence of the 20-year-old at his pre-match press conference.

The Portuguese's absence from the Reserves' midweek victory over Manchester City prompted a series of reports questioning his impact at United, but Sir Alex insists there are only issues with the player's fitness, not his ability.

"Bebe is in a programme of doing endurance work, because his fitness levels aren’t near the levels we’re at," the manager said. "Other than that he’s done well.

"He’s had a couple of attacks - I thought they were pretty vicious attacks - on why he wasn’t playing in the Reserve game. He was never going to be playing in the Reserve game on Tuesday.

"I think those attacks came from a bit of vengeance from two journalists who are banned from here. They saw an opportunity to have a go at the club and I think it’s disgusting. The boy didn’t deserve that. He’s a young boy trying to make his way in football, they didn’t need to do that. I think it was a real bitter attack.

"Ability-wise, he’s excellent. Terrific finisher, we’ve been very impressed with that, and it’s just the fitness levels he needs to get to, as opposed to our fitness levels."

Sir Alex is comfortable to take his time with the versatile forward, who has enjoyed a meteroric rise to prominence since joining United, and insists there is no reason to hasten his playing involvement.

ouch

The reserves game isn't a scrimmage game exactly - he's saying that if Anderson can play a reserves game without having a pre-season - why can't Bebe? Maybe because Anderson has been working his socks off in rehab and his gym based fitness levels aren't an issue - that he needs game fitness now?

Maybe if he listened to the interview he'd know SAF said they identified a couple of areas that weren't up to United standards so they are working on those along with the normal footballing stuff.

You know the idiot DT would be creaming his pants if we just threw him into the reserves game, not ready, and then had a poor game - he'd be on that story like stink on shit.

Sadly it was purely a metaphor. I used to want to be a journalist, but its such a morally bankrupt enterprise these days. Nick Davies' Flat Earth News is a great expose of the complete cesspit that is modern journalism. Sports journalism is of course a different ballgame, but if anything is worse. Mainly because of the egos that seem to develop amongst those whose jobs are essentially meaningless in the grand scheme of things. There are exceptions, of course, but not all that many.

You're right, also, with a few exceptions you notice journalists tend to start out reasonable, with well thought out articles and slowly degenerate into vile idiots who long ago forget how to compose decent and insightful pieces of work.

It's a profession often touted around on my course and it makes me shudder to think.

However, had you owned a national news-paper I wouldn't have minded the slow degeneration into madness, as I'm sure my little poem would have made you hire me instantly, if only for the shits and giggles.

WTF are Portugal playing at? Don't they know we are working on his fitness levels and education - calling him up disrupts this damnit :)

Best of luck to him - hope him and Cleverly impresses down one wing and Bebe on on the opposite side ... not sure if I want them battling each other on the same side ;)

exactly.

Best thing SAF and the club can do now is just not respond to anything said about Bebe. Let the story just die down. If asked, we just say our lil Bebe's not ready to walk yet...let alone play a full 90 minutes of football.

Bed him in, build up his confidence, give him his weetbix and BAM, in 6 months we unleaseh the Bebe onto the world.

Give the lad the time he needs ffs! Why cant we sign a young players without some ppl making themselves look like idiots. Good on Fergie to ban some feckers

lets hope Bebe plays for Portugal, will get a chance to see him.

eh not really. They'd have made up something or the other regardless of what he said. If he had said nothing, implying, they had seen enough of him in a way, to make this sudden purchase - and him not playing now - they'd be saying SAF has lost it and doesn't know how to spot talent anymore, lots of fans would probably say the same thing - that he is getting too old blah blah blah.

Only thing that would have prevented these vultures from finding an angle to attack him would have been if he had never come to us.

i've got faith in Fergie and the scouting team, but personally i have more faith in that Van Helzen whizkid from the Netherlands.

Its a big gamble to take this kid anyway. Very hard to assess his potential when all his opponents he had played against were so weak too. Maybe we could still afford a few million pound loss in hope for the next big thing.
