Better be taking the piss there....

Has it occured to anyone that while the site is official there is probably very little input from within the club besides interviews. The writers for the site are just hired to cover all things United, for the site.

That has become quite evident in the past year or so.

Ilker Casillas anyone?

Please tell me you're not talking about him having a "profile" on the site...

When 'raw' talent is mentioned, I get worried.

'Raw' really means not talented enough and have had great luck to find yourself at one of the biggest clubs in the world.

I have no idea how good Bebe is. I hope he isn't raw.

Well put it this way.. The same manager was turning down the opportunity to sign players like Thierry Henry years back because reports were he was very 'raw'. So raw must just be appealing now!!

when will he get playing times with us? surely he need game for us to judge whether he is ready.

That is what it is. They get very little help from the club. The most help they get is for the shopping part.
I remember being a made a MOD on the Old talking red, then within a month, I think it was December 2007, they came and cleared everybody without any input from those of us who were there and made that place look like madness.
It was one of the best forums out there.
Blithy,
I know the news you read, but that was a report of what the papers were saying.

I've been reading a few quotes that he'd rather play on the wings than be a CF...

I did watch the full England U21's Vs Port. U21's, I thought he did come to life when he played on the wings as he was getting the god damn ball, but as a CF, Portugals MF had no intention what so ever to pass him the ball and he was seriously in good positions at times...

Jury is out whether he'd do better as a CF and Winger...

Here's hoping Ronaldo MK II though...

You answered that question in the following sentence - when he's ready, obviously. It clearly isn't yet, as indicated by his lack of fitness a few days back, yet it'd be unwise to ship him off on loan also when you consider the inconsistency in lifestyle of his footballing career to date.

As it's been said already, I think it's unwise to expect anything in the forseable future. Give him a season or so in the reserves, and measure his progress as he plays.

I don't recall us every being linked to Henry/turning the opportunity to sign him down? Have you got a link?

Look it up yourself!!! Lazy ass..

Na you probably wont find nothing, it was one of those 'yes we was looking at Henry when he was younger but blah blah blah....' A bit like how every big club was interesting in Ronaldo before we signed him

Happy to hear he is in CL squad, doubt he will play though but good to be there

Today against Macedonia U-21's? What's the chances of getting a good stream for that game after the struggle to get one for the England U-21's game?

Was that so hard? I found several. Though I don't really know how good they were because my internet was seriously ill at the time.

Well, it was shockingly difficult to find a good, clear stream for the game, anyway, and that's from using myp2p to locate them. Then again, pitch shadows didn't do the visuals any favours.

Bebe surprised by inclusion
United's new signing ready to make the most of place in squad

The Portugal Under 21 international signed for the Old Trafford club last month for a reported fee of £7.4m with manager Sir Alex Ferguson insisting that the winger has a bright future at the club.

The 20-year-old was named in United's squad despite initial reports he had not made the cut along with Owen Hargreaves.
However, Uefa confirmed that Bebe, who was playing in the Portuguese third tier last season, had been included and he could now make his Old Trafford bow against Rangers in the competition next Tuesday.

"I'm surprised by my inclusion in the Champions League squad," he said.

"It's a dream for me. I never thought I would have made it, but now I am a very happy man.

"I only hope that my confidence returns when I start playing some games and scoring goals, like I know how.

"At the moment I am working very hard each day in training.

"I intend to make the most of my chance and hopefully profit from the opportunity given to me."

Slightly strange choice of words. Hopefully something's been lost in translation.

feck off stupid rags claiming his inclusion is a gamble.

might be something lost in translation, but I can imagine that his confidence may have taken something of a hit over the last few weeks.

He has gone from playing with and against a certain standard of opponent, who he was better than (seemingly).

Having signed for United the quality of the players he is playing with and against has jumped massively, as has the level of fitness. Those factors could have resulted in him not playing to his own potential in training etc and thus knocking his confidence in himself.

The more he plays and trains with the players, the more used to it he will become, at which point any confidence in himself that he may have lost will hopefully return.

I looked up some Portuguese sources and found nothing about confidence.

Edit: In fact the Portuguese versions seem to say something like "I'm adapting very well and my aim is to start playing and scoring."

S'pose so.

You'd think being signed by United would give a young football a boost in confidence, if anything but meh, could be construed as meaning all sorts of different things.

Depends on your self belief. In his case he's come so far in such a short time, it's surely not surprising if he looks at the players training around him and questions his own ability; can he live up to his price-tag, is he good enough to play alongside Rooney, Giggs, Scholes etc.

I don't think there's anything weird about this, just a young man who's been taken well outside his comfort zone, and it will take him a while to find his feet in a very new environment.

Maybe the quotes are more sensationalist bollocks, misquoting what he has said in the hope that it creates an air of a crisis of confidence

Ahh that's right, the mass-media ABU conspiracy , far more likely than a 20 year old kid being a bit over-awed by moving from homeless amateur to the biggest club in the world in less than 3 months

Well, as I said I found several Portuguese versions of the interview with no mention of any lack of confidence, but I could of course have overlooked or misunderstood something. Where are our resident Portugeezers?
