Benitez to Chelsea Discussion & Sack watch

He will leave by mutual consent in the morning, mark my words. Personally I'd love it if he were still in charge for the United game.

He has been treated like shite since his arrival and Chelsea fans hae done themselves no favours at all.

I agree with most of what he had to say in tonight's interview.

He should never have been hired, but he was. Roman knew it was an unpopular choice and then gve him the title of interim manager. What a mess.

It is not his fault though and the Chelsea fans should have gotten behind him far more than they did.

Benitez and the board were warned a year ago with songs and banners "Rafa Benitez, you're not welcome here". They heard but they didn't listen. All we as supporters did was stick to our guns.

He should have known what job he was taking regarding the fans and the interim title.

Don't mouth off about another club's fans to cement your position as a Kop Idol (plastic flags? Check. Best fans in the world, la? Check) and promise never to take a job out of respect for Liverpool fans, only to make a u-turn when no one else will have you a few years later. And then come out of it trying to looked wronged or honourable.

How would you lot welcome him at Old Trafford for feck's sake?

You can't have a go at anyone for plastic flags jibes mate. You DO have plastic flags.

I still maintain it's Abramovich's fault.

I don't blame the Chelsea supporters for hating him from the beginning, the things he'd said about the club would incense anyone. Would we grin and bear it if someone akin to Rafa who disparaged United and then was hired on?

feck no.

And we're not even getting into discussions about Rafa being an imbecile.

Roman should just make JT player-manager and get it over with.

Feck me . Early strong contender for the Caf funniest photoshop of the year award. The detail is astonishing.

Rafa knew exactly what he was getting into when he accepted that job, first of all no top manager with any self respect would've accepted that interim role but he did and now he's moaning about the title, why? did they point a gun to his head to take the job?

He knew the fans would hate him and not just because they liked RDM but because the moron has spoken badly about them before, again what did he expect?

If you agree to be someone's whore for a quick payday don't complain about getting fecked, it's that simple.

This. What the feck did he expect? he's an ego maniac who never takes responsibility for anything he does. Silly cnut thought he could stroll in for a pay day and win some easy cups to boost his CV. Well done Chelsea fans for sticking by there guns.

Wheres Ancelotti?!

Its embarrassing that we have sacked so many managers since the RA era that you need more than one decent sized whack a mole game unit to accommodate their disembodied heads! :(

So did Barcelona last night - so do Real Madrid. Does Benitez or Liverpool fans have a pop at them? Does he feck.

I don't like plastic flags - I think they're artificial atmospheres. But they're hardly unique to Chelsea, they're used all over the continent. Scousers are obsessed with them though and Benitez was playing straight to the gallery of the Kop with those comments.

To be fair, the Bradford fans had plastic flags, and no one had a go at them. And (whisper it) they occasionally actually do create an atmosphere.

When has the board ever listened to what the fans want? It's RA club and he will do whatever he wants with it, it's the price to pay if you want success. We wouldn't hire him in the first place but if the board replace Fergie with someone who I don't like you won't see me making any banners or booing him before United have even kicked a ball with him in charge.

Arsenal, Tottenham, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Ajax.

I don't go in for the whole victim complex and I don't even like the fecking things, but we're by no means alone in using them.

We are however the only team ever mentioned in connection with them, usually by hee-hawing Scousers using them as credence for our "plastic" title. With that is the implication that their own dubious support is so "classy" by comparison. Of course, the club that got English teams banned from Europe for 5 years and whose fans were described after Athens as "the worst in Europe" fool no one, but in their own heads they are dead boss and as classy as feck.

Does Rafa mention that his "sweetheart" team Real Madrid also love a plastic flag to go with their hankies?

What if he had previously slagged off your fans and said that he wouldn't manage United out of respect for Liverpool, only to turn around and take the job?

It was Roman's fault, but Rafa had as much warning as anyone what was going to happen. I don't blame Chelsea fans for reacting how they have done. Yeah, booing is counter-productive but at least they didn't just roll over. Literally anyone else could have been hired and this wouldn't have happened.
Basically Rafa should have seen it coming and was a mug for saying what he did then taking the job.

Oh and :lol::lol::lol::lol:

Chelsea... Got left by Rafa...

Our owners aren't stupid enough to hire someone like him but just in case Joel has a brain fart and hires Mancini when Fergie retires our supporters will have to ask themselves what good will it do it by booing the manager. It won't help the players, it will piss off the manager and it will probably ruin the atmosphere inside the ground, If you love your club more than you hate the guy in charge you will get over it.

The flight back home from the Bernabeu was filled with United fans who had Madrid's plastic flags shoved into their bags and backpacks.

My word, that Rafa rant. Horrendous.

i'm guessing over on RAWK it was "genius" again?

The flight back home from the Bernabeu was filled with United fans who had Madrid's plastic flags shoved into their bags and backpacks.

For some reason it is only mentioned in a derisive way (or at all) in conjunction with Chelsea.

Normally by hee-hawing Scouse hyenas who cling onto it as about the last bit of one-upmanship that they have now that their team is fecking shit and their classy "cauldron" of a ground has been reduced to a silent, embarrassing shadow of its former self.

Benitez knew that mentioning plastic flags in contrast to the passion of Anfield would press their spazzy little buttons. It's one of the stock phrases on the press release they give to Liverpool players/managers along with "YAWN", "humongous club", "storied history" "famous European atmospheres" etc etc.

It is his annoying abrasive personality and perceived shitness as a manager that alienated us from him, as well as his snide comments. He was never wanted and was told clearly in advance. He thought he could turn it around with some results, but the results just deteriorated. Now he suddenly comes out and moans about the "interim" title he has known about since November.

Interesting also that after being so guarded with the press and claiming to be the aural equivalent of Arsene Wenger in that he is so focussed on management that he is "unable to hear" any of the chants against him (remember the first Geoff Shreeves interview?), he suddenly comes out tonight completely unprovoked all guns blazing on a question that had nothing to do with it.

AY: "How important is this FA Cup to you now? You go to Manchester United next so there are no givens."

RB: "I think for us every game, every trophy is really important. I have been manager for 26 years, I have won the Fifa Club World Cup, the Champions League, FA Cup, a lot of trophies and I'm really a little bit disappointed with some fans, a group of fans singing and I think they are not making any favour to the team.

"They have to support the team instead of wasting time doing banners or singing songs. What they have to do is support the team and create a good atmosphere in Stamford Bridge. If we cannot achieve the target that we are looking for, to be in the Champions League... If they continue singing and talking and talking then I think they are not making any favours.

Obviously a pre-scripted Fact part deux meltdown. :boring:

The rant comes out when you are in a strong position.. says a lot when a strong position for Rafa is beating Boro in the FA cup..

But then considering he lost the CWC, got knocked out against Swansea and cant string 2 wins together in the league... progressing in the FA cup is a big deal for him.

Wouldn't be Rafa if he isn't blaming something for his failure.

Hiddink and di Matteo were Interim Managers too.

‘The manager is the manager, one month, seven months, it does not matter. You are the manager. I had an agent (who negotiated the job). It was the English-Spanish translation.

‘I felt it was a mistake to call me the interim but I could not change it. It was too late. But I am the manager. I am professional and I will do my best until the last minute.

The only people who will be suckered by this will be RAWK. A desperate, last-ditch attempt to try and salvage some credibility by blaming everything, anything except himself. Agents. Translators. Anyone except Benitez, who also claimed the title was a "surprise" to him, although this is the first time he's mentioned it.

He really will try anything. I'm sure the club will be distinctly unimpressed with this outburst considering the contract clearly will have stated "interim". I can't see him being there till the weekend.
