Benitez to Chelsea Discussion & Sack watch

He's been doing it for 20 odd years. Lately?
He's getting worse at it. He talks about getting rid of the nastiness in football between supporters, yet he has a dig like that at Rafa? He either is fanning the flames or he is getting to be bitter and old. Has to be one of the two.

I don't know what getting old has to do with it . I don't think he's bitter either . He obviously thinks - or should I say - knows, that FSW - is an egotistical fool

Fanning the flames? Let me remind you:
Dear Supporter,
The great support you gave the team here [at Anfield] last season has seen our allocation back up to near-full levels. I want you to continue that progress today. But today [Sunday] is about much more than not blocking gangways. Today is about thinking hard about what makes United the best club in the world.

Our rivalry with Liverpool is based on a determination to come out on top – a wish to see us crowned the best against a team that held that honour for so long. It cannot and should never be based on personal hatred. Just 10 days ago, we heard the terrible, damning truth about the deaths of 96 fans who went to watch their team try and reach the FA Cup final and never came back. What happened to them should wake the conscience of everyone connected with the game.

Our great club stands with our great neighbours Liverpool today to remember that loss and pay tribute to their campaign for justice. I know I can count on you to stand with us in the best traditions of the best fans in the game.
Yours sincerely, Sir Alex Ferguson.

But I understand. Your judgement and ability to recognise a dig in jest versus a dig in a more serious matter, is in fact clouded by the fact that you as a Liverpool supporter must do everything possible to undermine SAF.

Why the feck are you scousers acting like girls over this? You are quick to distance your fanbase form RAWK, whilst at the same time go crying about your precious Benitez and his feelings?

It was an amusing dig, with plenty of truth to it, nothing more. The back and forth is surely going to be entertaining?

That's the thing, there was plenty of truth in it . It's not like he made it up

Why haven't Mancini or Wenger, or any other manager had a go? Rafa obviously gets on Fergie's tits and that's why he's come out with this. Not that I really give a feck because he's Chelsea, not Liverpool manager.

Meh, that's bullshit.

You guys half heartedly wanted him to fail just to say "I told you so"

Not true.

Not true.

It's clear that both him and Ferguson dislike each other. Also loving the fact that Liverpool fans are giving the comment on this situation and then signing off the fact that they don't give a feck :D

And? He does get on Ferguson's tits, clearly. What's the problem there?

Is he wrong with what he said though?

this is what i'm loving the most.

Benitez, Chavski and scousers are about the unholiest trinity in English football right now.

Mancini is the outsider. Wenger isnt competing with Chelsea and neither of those two will make the fat one as upset as Fergie.

Its simple. Chelsea are contenders+Fergie doesnt like Benitez+He knows he can get under his skin easily.

Hardly a surprise.

It's beautiful.

The fact that some of them are still clinging to St Rafa-the-one-who-really-understood; The Defender of all Things Pure & Scouse after he sold his arse to Chelsea for an interim position without a second thought, and started spouting the same sickly emotionally manipulative nonsense there the moment he arrived with hardly a change of beat will never cease being funny.

it is a thing of great beauty

I'm glad he's taken the Chelsea job. One for him personally but mainly so our obsessed Rafa-ites can finally get over him.

It's a random dig that wasn't really needed.

I expect Rafa's response to (hopefully) ignite a season long feud.

Ha, I suppose I am kind of unintentionally defending him.

:lol::lol:

Someone asks him a question and he answers it with a classy bit of banter that a host of bitter wankers jump all over for a bit of attention. It was the perfect quip.

It shows the infinite gulf between SAF and Rafa. One with the deftness of a silk glove against the other with his history of attacking a cheese wheel with a sledgehammer.

SAF's cards have been played. He's already cashed out. Hid the evidence of the slain prostitute in the hotel and is on the plane back to the States.. Rafa's response means nothing now.

The ideal situation would be Chelsea finishing outside the top 4, Pep, Jose or any other top manager refuse the managers job, top players refuse to join them because of no champions league football, and they are struck with Benitez.

Duality principle of life has to come through here. They have been extremely lucky over the past year and it's time it balances itself out.

I've already stated that he wasn't a popular choice. It was never personal though. Well certainly not at the start anyway. But I never went to Anfield for his first game in charge ready to bury the guy. His short Liverpool career was a double-edged sword of failure from the start. On the pitch we were shite. Off it, Hodgson's press conferences were staggering in the sense that if he could say the wrong thing, he invariably did. He got off to a flyer when he was first appointed manager by saying he hoped his good friend Sir Alex wouldn't hold it against him for taking the Liverpool job. Virtually apologising to the manager of our most hated rivals was never going to endear him to anyone. But we still cut him some slack in the hope he could prove us wrong, & not turn out to be the incompetent chancer that he obviously is.

Compare that to Chelsea fans, who have seen a manager sacked when it's quite plain to everyone that he was out of his depth at Stamford Bridge. Yet their antipathy towards Benitez could threaten what could be a very promising season. & it's not as though there's an abundance of top managers waiting for Roman to call is there ?

I've got to admit, as unsupportive of Hodgson as Liverpool supporters were, Chelsea fans reaction to Benitez today was on another level!

I didn't see the start of the game. Were they booing him or something?

They clapped for the duration of the 16th minute to show support for di Matteo.

But before that, they met up with a lot of posters etc that said that Rafa was unwanted, that they'd never get behind him etc.

Hilarious.

Anyone else see the placards some fans were holding up behind the corner flag saying 'Rafa out'? Pathetic bunch of fans to be honest. If he doesn't get off to a flying start then I can see mass marches before the new year.

Pathetic bunch of fans to be honest.

I agree.
