Berbatov | Fulham player

Weird that he isn't even an option these days.

For all the talk of it being an amicable relationship you have to say they must've had some sort of falling out. Can see no other reason why he's being marginalized like this.

Hernandez and Welbeck have been dogshit recently. He deserves a go.

I said it in the match day thread, we have seemingly decided Berbatov is no longer a Manchester United player despite there being 2 months of the season left to play. We don't know the behind the scenes stuff but unless he has had a major bust up he should be making the bench at the minimum.

This exactly. All very odd. I hope Fergie knows what he's doing

Yep you're right. Welbeck and Hernadez are the future but both are bang out of form at the moment. I can't see why if you have Berbatov in the squad you wouldn't use him. We have used plenty of players towards the end of the season even if we all knew they were going to leave. There must be something else going on.

Tevez is starting and he doesn't get on the bench. Danny and Javier have been poor for quite some time know and Rooney hasn't been great either. Provides goals but when he doesn't he's most likely been poor.

This is all very well but what does your girlfriend think ? :D

Oh and before any retard pops in with "So Berbatov being left out is the reason United left today, LOL". No, we're not saying that, however this guy should now be atleast on bench considering Hernandez and Danny have been awful.
Yeap. Not the biggest Berba fan but Fergie's handling of Berba situation has been very odd. Generally he is a great man manager and even plays problem players if it is for team.

Both of our strikers bar Rooney look in poor form ATM. If Rooney goes off the boil as well, it is gonna be a struggle getting goals every game,

Unless Berba has said he has no interest in playing his demotions to the reserves is baffling.

I get we are trying to sell him in the summer, and the last thing we need is him having a long term injury. But Hernandez gives us almost nothing except goals and he's been going through a pretty significant slump in the past few months. Welbeck needs a partner to do well and hasn't scored in 13 games.

Berba with his experience and touch would have been perfect for this sort of game. Made very little sense not even having him as an option.

it bizzare why he can't find a place on the bench, has he done something wrong to upset Fergie?

I wonder what he did, surely he fell out with Sir Alex, only logical reason barring injury as I see it.

Caught his hattrick against Wigan from around christmas, he definately brings a presence we don't get elsewhere. If he is to leave then I hope we replace him with someone like Llorente (just an example, but boy how I'd love him here).

I think Berbatov should be in with a shout, but I sort of understand why he isn't.

Next season we are pinning our hopes on Danny Welbeck and Chicharito, so getting them experience in the title run-in is smart planning for the future. I think it's obvious that Danny Welbeck is being given every opportunity to succeed at United this season. Even when Hernandez scored, he was back on the bench in favour of Welbeck.

It serves no purpose to use a guy that will be gone next season, if the manager thinks he has 2 guys who can essentially do the same thing and become better players for it.

Personally, I think we should play Berbatov. We've went on about how we are trying to play with more pace, but in the last few games against QPR, Fulham and Blackburn we played a slow pace that is perfectly suited to Berbatov's abilities.

On the other hand, shop window? Why arent we letting him show other teams he is still worth signing in the summer? That itself is a purpose.

I am not so much disappointed about Berbs not being involved tonight. I am beyond that now, disappointment was weeks ago.

There's got to be something more to the story that we're not privy to. It's unlike Fergie to completely freeze out a player that could still be an asset,

Like everyone else.........i don't understand why he isn't at least on the bench.

I want really a answer from Fergie for this question.

Chicharito and Welbeck are having too many poor games in the last weeks.

The only thing I can think of, is that Berbatov has seen that he's been completely frozen out weeks ago and knowing he has no future at the club, has been basically going through the motions and putting in no effort during training. And that's why he doesn't even make the bench.

How you perform in training goes along way in deciding teams. According to Gary Neville's book, during Tevez's last season with us, he was very poor in training and thus he found himself out of the starting eleven alot during that time.

If he hasnt done something, then its because Sir Alex just feels like the options on the bench can have a bigger impact on the match than Berbatov.

Lets remember that until some of his more recent appearances off the bench, his record for goalscoring after he came on was absolutely terrible.

This isn't Berbatov's attitude.

Park can't have a bigger impact from the bench than Berbatov.

No, it's not Berbatov's way to complain and cause trouble behind the scenes, that's why I don't agree with the theory that there's been some sort of falling out with Sir Alex, to explain why he's a ghost.

It is human nature though to not give any effort if there's no future. If you are guaranteed to be losing your job at the end of the month, are you going to give it your all at work everyday?

Really? He's scored more often off the bench and provides something different to our wingers. Can play multiple roles and the manager trusts him to help see us through difficult games.

Between Hernandez and Welbeck pretty much everything Berbatov does is already covered

I remember Andrei Kanchelskis went missing for a while. After he came back it transpired that he had had to deal with a personal tragedy. It hadn't been made public and Fergie stuck with him through the crisis. I do wonder if something similar is happening to Berbatov.

When Kanchelskis went missing in 1995 he never returned (albeit very briefly) and was sold to Everton

Anyway I understand why some are calling for Berbatov given the form of Welbeck and Hernandez. It looked like we needed something different last night.

But his record in away games and especially coming off the bench is piss poor apart from one or two occasions.

Also his record in games like this in title run ins is piss poor too.

The obvious counter argument is that Welbeck's goalscoring form of late has been piss poor, and Hernandez general form has been worse. While Berbatov has scored something like seven goals in his last five PL appearances. I don't think it's logical to infer that form has dictated Berbatov's exclusion from recent matchday squads.

But not well. They've been poor for while now. Berba has been good when called upon this season. It's a shame he hasn't been called upon more. I think we would have dealt with some teams better had he played more. Welbeck is much to handle sure but in the box he turns into a sunday league footballer. Hernandez is the opposite but he hasn't taken his chances that well this season.

Berba is good inside and outside the box and can do things Rooney seem to do poorly a lot of late. He's a great footballer and simply a better player than many of our attackers. We were struggling big time against a team which was taken for granted that Berbatov would steam roll over.

He must've had some bust up with Sir Alex. Pogba on the bench instead of him is hillarious really.

It's really all guesswork at this point isn't it? Although I can't imagine Berbatov doing something deserving of such neglect without any of it being made public. I wish he was considered an option.

I've always been a fan of Berbatov. He's been nothing but professional the entire time he's been here. Always had a great attitude.

If he's going in the summer, give him a chance for goodness sake. Let him help us, and to have a great end to his time here. Give him a chance to be the hero, and help us over the finishing line.

He's earned it.

Berbatov wouldn't have made much of a difference, not coming on from the bench. So if he isn't starting, he might as well not be on the bench. When the team isn't playing well overall, he isn't of much use anyway. If he really would have made a difference, Fergie would have him there. People seem to have forgotten a lot of the negatives in his performances, and are remembering only the positives.

But more probably, there maybe something on the personal front which the club don't want to comment on.

He recently scored against Fulham after coming off the bench. He has scored more goals than both Welbeck and Hernandez in the league since December despite getting only a fraction of the game time that they've got. When the team were playing terribly against Blackburn in December he scored twice to bring us level and get us back in the game, which we then proceded to throw away. His record for us against Wigan is pretty damn impressive. You really cannot argue that his form and ability weren't enough to at least get him a place on the bench.
