Berbatov | Fulham player

It is nothing to do with the fee. Is that not obvious? It must be the wages. He is probably after a 3 year contract too. Which is understandable

doesn't matter -5m plus wages he's still miles better than fletcher. can't get why no one would take a chance. it's not like fletcher's going to play for free.

Indeed. Someone like Fletcher would probably still want £40k a week and I think at this point Berbatov would take a step down to £70k if he could get a 2-year or a 3-year contract. That's a £30k difference per week, £1.5m a year - for £5m it'd be like signing him on Fletcher's wages for £9.5m at most.

Mathematics.

I think Berbatov still wants a top club with CL football and it seems most of them aren't interested. I'm sure there'd be takers lower down if he were willing to consider them.

SAF on attacking options:

"But what gives us even more strength is the different combinations I have now. If you go back to the '99 season, I had [Andy] Cole and [Dwight] Yorke and also Teddy [Sheringham] and Ole Gunnar [Solskjaer] - I had the four best strikers in Europe. Now I've got Wayne, Robin, Danny Welbeck, Chicharito, [Shinji] Kagawa - it's a fantastic collection of players and hopefully I can pick the right combinations!"

No mention of Berba... no doubt he'll be leaving unless noone comes in with a reasonable bid.

Glad to see Fergie listing Kagawa as a forward not a CM.

You are seriously expecting a player of Berbatov's quality to play for Sunderland? I knew you lot didn't rate him but come on!

not my point. players are being sold for lg amounts regardless of the side. but and i'll stress that , no team in the top 4 are going to take him in the prem. he'll have to go to a lesser team or lesser league.

I imagine in the twilight of his career he wants first team football, I see no reason why a top four side in Italy or Spain would overlook him. My guess is there will be bids nearer the end of the window when they think we will sell for peanuts. Make no mistake, he is still the the third most talented forward at Manchester United, that makes him qualified to play for most teams.

I imagine all of the Italian top clubs could do with him - he could still play for a few years and slower pace should suit him perfectly. Juventus, Inter and Milan have all been looking for strikers and you can hardly get a better deal than Berbatov in this market, then there are Roma, Napoli and Lazio who also could do with him.

you'd think that. jumping at him. Juve backed out of RVP if they were actually in for him. 5m is nothing now a days.

You'll not get a better striker than Berbatov for 5 m. Not in his age with his experience and not in this market. It's a laughable price actually (forthcoming contract's end aside).

Not that it bothers me, If it was possible I would love him to be still there and contribute a few goals here and there, but if they are clever buyers they should be harrasing Fergie every day and night.

There's a vacancy in the woodwind section.

Would you guys mind if he joins Liverpool for $10mil instead? Just a thought.

$10M is £6.63M - if you're going to make a suggestion as vile as that at least do it with an amount that is sufficiently enticing. "Would you kill yourself if you knew your family would get £1,000 from it?"

Well I meant 10mil GBP, ie double the price we are supposedly
marketing him for. I for one wouldn't take any Liverpool offer, given the rivalry and history but to some, you don't go against money, and that's how they live their lives.

Ps: what a stupid analogy you came up with, tbh.

That is true, i said it before - it's mind blogging that player of such quality is not wanted. I would bite Fergie's hand off to land him.

i feel quite sorry for berbs. from top league scorer to being banished from all consideration. strange.

he seems a very genuine, quite sesitive bloke too. definatley no big time charlie about him. what ever happens he can walk away with his head held high. he'll come out of it with alot of admiration from me for how he has dlt with being treated pretty poorley from the club and SAF (never thought id say that).

i also dont understand why clubs arent queing up for him. QPR would seem an ideal move for him and them.

I feel sorry for him, as it's a bit unjust the way he was treated, but at the same time I'm fully aware of the fact that he needs to leave, the sooner the better, for both parties.

keep him and have a real go at the quadruple.

have him start in all league cup matches from the beginning and fa cup matches when we play shit teams.

I can't think of anything more insulting for Dimitar Berbatov.

Just a few seasons ago, he was our top scorer. Now you want to relegate him to a starter against cannon fodder?

He needs to leave because he should be playing first team football week in and week out. He just won't be able to do it here with us.

Something must've gone on behind the scenes, it's almost like he doesn't exist anymore. Can't remember the last time a United player got ignored so much, let alone a high profile one.

We already did this last season.

Also, we actually played him at CB against Leeds, I must remind you.

Basically, the only way we could insult him further was if we had Noodles put his squirrels on fire.

But it would be even worse this season, with the arrival of Van Persie.

He needs to be moved on, for his sake more than anything.

I hope he gets a good club, sad that he has to go for the best of all concerned.

with us signing rvp, berba need to leave now. it is sad to see him out but for the sake of his career he need to do so. zenit doesn't sound so bad for berba.

It seems as if I understood your intentions wrongly the other day when I jumped at you. Apologizes.

I admire the way he's handled the situation. Can't be a great feeling going from 2nd to 5th choice striker without doing all that much wrong.

I expect he'll speak his mind when he does eventually leave however.

I hope he gets to go somewhere good, he still has a lot to offer in the right set up IMO. Spurs could do worse than snap him up.

I'd imagine he'll have a moan about his time at Utd when he leaves, I cant say I really blame him, I've always thought the timing of his move to Utd was the problem rather than his ability.

Good player, bad signing.

If I was a photoshop expert I'd start a thread on Berbatov's new role at United if we can't get rid of him. Maybe including pics of him working at the hotdog counter at half time or as a groundsman, probably with a fag in his mouth.
