Berbatov | Fulham player

i'm surprised he only signed a 2 year deal.

As much as i wanted the berbavirus out of the club since day 1 and today is a beautiful day for me in that regard, if i were Berba I would've stayed and ran my contract down and moved on a free to wherever next term.

Why?He would only have got a one year extension if he stayed .Got a good deal there.

Is he the single worst example of Fergie's man-management in his 25+ years here?

So much talent, so much United-love and yet still the fans (stupidly) turned against him, and eventually the manager did too.

There are going to be a lot of fans of bigger clubs than Fulham bemoaning that their manager didn't take a punt of Berbatov in about four months' time.

Berbatov : "I'd just like to take the opportunity to thank everyone at MUFC. You have all been so great to me with my 4 years at the club, thank you."

“Nobody can take my smile away, you know? I played for Manchester United and that was my main goal.”

Sad to see him go :(

Fantastic quote. When you consider what other players, wih less to be bitter about, have acted like after leaving Utd really shows what a class act he is. Fingers crossed he does well at Fulham.

Berbatov for me is real love for a footballer, watching him grow step by step at Spurs becoming a really great footballer I hoped that maybe one day we could have this wonderful artist of a player in our beautiful red shirt. And what about that night on transfer deadline day when it all became reality, I just couldn’t believe that Berbatov was our new super signing. The joy I felt at that moment is up there with the very best of my life and yes I’m a big Berbatov fan I know.

What about his time here? I think that the price tag always hunted him down and that was to expect. He was never a 30 M + player but Daniel Levy is not easy to make business with. Of course he did well here even if he didn’t reach the sky as many would have hoped. He was our top scorer, he won league titles and he helped us during some good years and he was always happy telling us fans that "I love playing for Manchester United FC and that is everything that I could wish for".

As we all know it all came to a point when Sir Alex thought that now we need to change something in our game to take the step to the next level. And in that change Berbatov wasn’t one of the pieces and when that happens there is not much to do other than let him move along and let another club have the benefit of having Dimitar in the team. You could say that this move came one year to late but still Berba didn’t moan he accepted the situation and he has not just shown that he is a great footballer; he also showed all of us that he is a good man as well.

Now it is time to write a new chapter in the life of the artist and footballer that we can find in Dimitar Berbatov and it is Fulham that will keep the story rolling over the coming two years at least. All I can do is to wish Dimitar good luck and hope that he will continue to perform the arts on the pitch that he has done over the last years. Thank you for all the memories you gave me, all the touches, skills, great goals and your wonderful use of that intelligent football brain you were lucky enough to be born with. It should always be remembered as a part of history of Manchester United F.C.

Interesting ?

He is more of a Berbatov fan than United's then.

Yeah that's vastly over the top. I would love him to prove some of the Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime amongst our fans wrong, again, but I hope he does that against other big teams.

I do hope though he has a cracker of a game against us, obviously with us still winning it comfortably (if such scenario is possible) :)

Joy to watch and to sum up, the way he was treated by a considerable United fans is something between diabolical/laughable/disgusting/neanderthal. You would have thought he spent all the time by wanting out and being in contact with other clubs, abusing Fergie and not scoring a single goal. All that while he was still our player ffs.

Glad this is over, let Berba do his stuff at Craven Cottage but I'm really disappointed with some of 'top reds'.

“...Nobody can take my smile away, you know? I played for Manchester United....”

fecking hell, that is a beautiful quote.

I'm actually sad to see Berba go. Having been against the transfer in the first place, and then disappointing by his performances in his first season...from there on in, he's grown and grown on me. As a person and footballer. His attitude and respect for the club as been almost unrivaled from any other player in his situation.

I really do wish him the best of luck. I hope he's absolutely fantastic at Fulham. Good luck Berba. Thanks for the memories.

When I went to the training session in Chicago last summer Berbatov was the only one who came around the ropes and let the fans put an arm around him and shake his hand. Very classy.

I personally will miss the chap.

A really classy player who enjoyed a spell at United that didn't go exactly as planned, but certainly had its moments. His playing style was beautiful on the eye and he was instrumental in the capturing of our 19th title.

Bye Berba.

Feels weird to see this thread in the footy forum.

Is it really necessary to move his whole thread to the football forum? Can't we just create a new one for his fulham move/career?

End of the day it is a Manchester United topic in here.

Really going to miss him. Classy and talented player, shame he never reached his full potential here.

And as someone else has mentioned, in a few months he'll be talked about as bargain buy of the season.

A big thanks from all the fans for your goals mr Berbatov.

We wish you all the best in your new club. Must be a dream to finally get to play in one of the biggest cities of the world in the country where football was born. I was thrilled the day you signed and I'm just as happy for your sake now that you will put on one of the classic shirts of the EPL.

Enjoy!

Berbatov at Man United overall then, hit or miss?

I've always really rated him but he lost his place too often and didn't score often enough in big games to call him a hit but it would be absurd to call him a miss given his contribution. Someone, Brad I think, described him like this and I'll stick with it (albeit without the homoerotic undertones):

"He always leaves you wanting more".

That about says it for me. It could have been so much better.

Get off that fence! Hit or miss?

I suppose if I had to pick it would be "miss". He never fulfilled his potential here and I don't think we made the most of his abilities either.

I liked him. People will say he didn't deliver due to his price tag. He would have to outscore Rooney (wait a minute here) for people to think he did particularly well.
He was good. Definitely more towards hot than not.

Cheers Dimitar. It was a pleasure to see you in a United shirt.

Still probably the most technically gifted player in the Premiership

No more looking forward to his touches, no more looking forward to his beautiful flicks. He was annoying when he didn't perform but only good memories remain. His goals won us the league title in THAT season of his where he was our top scorer. well done and thank you Berba.

...mishit?

Not that he did much of that - incredibly gifted player. Aww, that quote of his up there...what a class act.

I hope he absolutely fecks up the rest of the Premiership for Fulham.

I wouldn't be surprised if he returned to his Spurs form at Fulham, after all he did very well under the very same manager previously
