Berbatov | Fulham player

I'm over it now. Surely it's time to stop criticising every little thing?

I'm just being honest. I dont dislike Berbatov in the slightest, he's a very good player who is unsurprisingly doing fantastic for Fulham. And part of the reason why I have bothered to catch a few of Fulham's full matches this season as they're good to watch.

I only dislike when I'm being told not to be honest and its not Berbatov telling me that. Its other posters in threads like this. Thats a shame.

For all we know he could have been "mentoring" Nani. He still gave him a bollocking on the pitch any time he disagreed with what he tried to do and if thats the best thing for all football clubs, every player would be doing it.

I mentioned it to follow on from the point about him throwing hissy fits that was mentioned, not in response to something about him mentoring or not mentoring players. Thats irrelevant. Lots of other players mentor a younger one without having a go at them in public.
Give the berba hate a rest will ya. The lad has left...sheeesh

Frustrating watching us on days like today - we sold Berba cause he 'slows down our attack too much' and yet we play like all the players are going in reverse, even more so than when he was here. QPR and Norwich were exactly the kind of games when we played like that, where Berba played best for us.

We had plenty of games like Norwich away when Berbatov was playing for us. Berbatov's own team have failed to win in 5 now as well.

Unless you start blaming Van Persie (Berbatov's replacement) for the poor form, then that isn't really the issue.

I love Berbatov and miss him greatly. However, I don't think our strikers are the reason we are struggling these days.

Our strikers aren't the ones slowing down the attack though. They're suffering because of it, but they're not the main culprit. He's gone. We have to accept it. Berba*** if you want but he wouldn't be of much benefit to us now, and this is from someone who liked him.

It was scrappy games like this that Berbatov had us pulling our hair out.

Just finished watching Fulham vs. Spurs. It is frustrating to watch how much better Berba is than everyone else at Fulham. He had some exquisite touches, made some great passes and nothing. Issue is Berba doesnt't have another Berba to pass to or get a pass from. Fulham defense was poor as usual and the midfield is nothing to write home about either. Berba should have known this when he agreed to go there. Frustrating.

When Ruiz and Kacaniklic are playing, things look a lot better.

leggings tonight with the gloves.

don't think he ever did that at utd...the leggings.

i must say, i like his laziness and style now that he isn't with us. He's not a winner, he just wants to have a good time and do what he wants and not give a feck.

Yeah, pretty much, I don't think he made single run in the whole game, and missed a good chance too. I really like him, but it's really frustrating seeing him just walking on counter attacks, and just standing and not doing pressing at all whenever opponents have the ball.

Mind you, he still played very good tonight.

This is one aspect of his game which always annoyed me when he was at United. He'll lay off a pass or start a counter-attack and then casually jog forward rather than wanting to run on and get himself a goal. That's a difference between him and RVP for me, Robin always looks to get forward and score whilst Berba doesn't.

That said, he was terrific tonight and some of his touches were

He worked so hard tonight. I can't believe our fans think he's lazy. That should be reserved for fans who hardly see him play and judge him on his languid style.

Why would I be a wum? The BS about Berba being lazy should have ended when SAF revealed his running stats. The fact that he's averaged more passes per game than any striker in the Prem this season should again put a stop to the nonsense. You simply can't have stats like that and be lazy in this league. Tonight he had more touches than any Fulham player as a result of being every where and working his ass off. Yet some people still managed to see him as lazy!

He put a good performance tonight only thing missing was a goal, still got that magic first touch.

We all agreed he was good tonight, but saying he worked so hard tonight is ridiculous.

So, Paul Scholes puts more hard work then Carrick because he usually has more passes and touches then him?

So how did he have so many touches of the ball in so many areas of the pitch is such a competitive, high tempo, Prem game?

Scholes plays as a CM, Berba is a striker. To get on the ball as a striker so much you have to work hard. You know this though, but weren't aware of Berba's stats before calling him lazy.

If he really did have the most touches as a striker, then you really can't call him lazy in today's game Amar.

He looked pretty good, some great touches. But yeah he actually looked even lazier than usual. I doubt he broke a sweat.

He has more passes because he has the ball passed it him more than any player in his team. It'd be worrrying if he wasn't averaging good passing stats. It's the same with his touches. He has more because his teammates play the ball to him.

You're judging him by stats instead of watching him properly. He is undoubtedly a lazy player. It may just be his style, but he is and no amount of running stats are going to prove otherwise. He relies on his ability and technique as opposed to his workrate as a player.

I was comparing Scholes to Carrick, not Berba. I am still waiting for your explanation for that.

And I was well aware he was quite involved in the game, but that doesn't change fact he didn't make single run in the game with or without the ball, and wasn't doing pressing at all.

I agree. Seeing how much it hurts Sunny Jim just makes it better.

No, that's not what I'm doing. The stats supports what I'm seeing, which is a player that work his ass off to get on the ball. You are dreaming if you think you can see so much of the ball as a striker in the EPL by just standing around.

I know on forums people never back down, but you have to admit it makes absolutely no sense at all for him to be seeing so much of the ball and be lazy! The guy works damn hard and gets zero credit for it due to his languid style.

SAF on Berbatov:

"I think it's the languid style of his that's the problem. The stats, though, would surprise you. They don't surprise me. "I don't always pay attention to stats, to be honest, yet it's good to know in this case."

The stats don't surprise me either, as I watch him carefully and he works hard.

I'm sorry - I don't understand you argument. By your logic, Even if a player ran the most in the league, but if they hada certain "style" they would be a lazy player. IMO Berba certainly has games where he is lazy and doesn't work much, but your reasoning behind it doesn't make sense.
