I'm confused, we have signed a brilliant player and you lot are complaining. That is depressing, what will please you ungrateful cnuts?

On paper we have signed him.Literally on paper.

Only scored one goal against the Top 10 last year, hmm.

I've done a quick break down of his goals last season:

Tottenham: 23
Bulgaria: 4
Overall: 27

Home goals: 17
Away goals: 10

Against Top 10:
Man Utd: 1
Chelsea: 2
Arsenal: 1
Liverpool: 0
Everton: 0
Aston Villa: 1
Blackburn: 1
Portsmouth: 1
Man City: 0
West Ham: 2

That's 7 out of 10 and a total of 9 goals.

Don't know what stats you were looking at.

A lot of people seem to believe this story that United have done a deal to sign Berbatov for 28m.

I'm hoping it's not true as I don't want him at the club.

But if it's true that we are negotiating then do people not think this story is bullshit? It seems a bit sudden to agree a fee like that. If we were negotiating then you would expect Spurs to drag it out like they did for Carrick and get the maximum possible fee.

fact is boys and girls, he is a good player. a lot of people say we need a player who can head the ball but isnt one dimensional.

well he can head the ball and is McClassington all in one.

I've done a quick break down of his goals last season:

Home goals: 17
Away goals: 10

did he score 27 goals last season ?

wiki says 23

07-08 --- 36 - 15 | 8 - 3 | 8 - 5 |52 - 23

As opposed to the pittance currently being reported?

Top 10 clubs you mean? Not true if so.

He scored against Villa, Pompey, Arsenal, Chelsea (twice), Man. United, W.Ham (twice) and Blackburn.

I dont remember him doing so last season. I do remember him hitting the bar in the first match though. When was the goal?

Just read the table. I still dont remember it. Oh well.

I used the stats at Soccerbase which includes Bulgaria's matches.

the 1-1 draw .. lennon crossed , vds parried , berbatov put it in ..
vds got booked for complaining about the handball in the buildup

One advantage getting Berbs over a top talent from abroad is the bedding in period of the Premiership - with Berbatov having done his time in the Premiership, he will hopefully hit it off straight away.

With Ronaldo's injury/Real situation we are actually very very desperate for an established striker.

As opposed to the pittance currently being reported?

I've seen Spurs fans saying it would be a disgrace if he was sold for less than 35m.

Seriously.

And if all these stories are true then do you think United would jump from an offer of 20m to one of 28m so quickly? The whole thing sounds like crap to me. Maybe United will buy him eventually, but I don't buy this story that a deal has already been done.

What makes you think you know what Fergie wants?

Not one single quote from him or anyone else for that matter.
There is not a shred of evidence that Fergie has any interest in Berbatov at all.

No, his agent has never said that we have bid for him before, he didn't say that we have lodged a bid recently. You are ignoring facts, nobody has denied these rumours, Spurs would have come out and denied them.

Glastonspur is in the know, ask him.

Reputable papers are running the story as done business or an all but completed deal - not mere speculation.

Fergie has stated his admiration for Berbatov before, it is common knowledge, he watched him at Levurkusen and Spurs.

YOU ARE IGNORING FACTS.

He hasn't signed on the dotted line, i have suspected this transfer since early this year though, we are getting to the conclusion of it now and i am allowed to have a fair bit of confidence. If you lot want to argue about fees, taking them literally, i am allowed to take the reports that we have signed him literally.

I've been saying this would happen for the last 6 months. I can't quite believe that some of you don't want him at your club.

His stats are pretty conclusive, and his class is blindingly apparent.

Mark my words, he will become a United legend.

Been screaming this from the rooftops but only a select few are ....thats why im so pleased its actually going to happen this place will go crazy over him.

berbatov>>>>.torres threads
berbatov>>>> bergkamp threads
berbatov>>>cantona threads???

Mark my words!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is like porn to me.

No. A deal has been reached already, according to a reliable Spurs ITK, said 45 mins ago.

Expect announcement by Wednesday. All cash all up front.

Thankyou, thankyou and thankyou.

I'm sorry to all those that ignore facts, cannot sift through truth and crap and decry logic. Be depressed that it isn't Eto'o, Villa or Benzema, i couldn't give a shit. This bloke is the dogs bollocks, wait and see.

I doubt it has already been done as well Charleysurf but at the end of the day none of us are involved in the hypothetical process. How on earth are we supposed to know how long it would take to reach a deal or if one has been reached.

You've just made god knows how many blokes get their penis' out

Good job :p

So I say most people are in favour of this transfer.

So who would you play him in place of? Would you stick the likes of Rooney or Tevez on the bench?
We will have Berbatov, Rooney, Tevez and Ronaldo. Generally 3 of those will start and one will be on the bench (almost always coming on). I'd guess that if they all stayed fit for the entire season, Berbatov and Tevez would start about the same amount of games, just a few less than Rooney and Ronaldo. None of them will be considered squad players or just someone to come off the bench.

Plus his attitude has'nt really been top class through last season, has it?
His 'poor attitude' is vastly over-rated. He has a lazy and languid style which is easily mistaken for true lazyness, and then when he (and the entire Spurs team for that matter) were struggling during the Jol saga it made it look like he just wasn't interested at all.

.

I concur....but i think berbatov would be starting the big games by the end of the season because he offers something neither rooney nor tevez do.

Excellent news (if true), Berbatov is different gravy. He just needs a stage, which we can obviously provide him.
Glaston, from your POV, do you think this is good business for Spurs?

Well that has to be crap. No way United are splashing out that kind of money in cash.
Well, whatever the figure is (and I don't know what it is) it's all cash up front.

It's likely I suppose that a somewhat reduced fee was agreed in return for the whole lot being paid in cash now.

I agree completely. Transfers are rarely paid up front these days, United are hardly in a position to break that trend. Last year when a number of big money deals were agreed none were paid up front, why would this be any different?
