Birmingham City v Manchester United

And Fergie says we dont need to buy anyone, who is he trying to fool!!!

Himself. To try and justify the reason we let the best player in the world leave during the summer.... He either stops playing 451 and actually uses Owen, or buys a striker ala Ruud style. Because its not fecking work anymore and its not going to work with a bunch of players that are too scared To take a feckING SHOT, they'd rather hoof the ball upfield. What I want to fecking know is where has the creative spark that our squad had in 07/08 gone. Didn't have it last year either. Perhaps it's now coaching Portugal? Phelan is not bad don't get me wrong, but he offers nothing that Sir Alex would already have. With Carlos we played good football and its now gone.

Not too disappointed to be honest. (Or maybe I'm just not surprised...)

Birmingham have been very good in recent months and we've been inconsistent at best. A draw with 10 men is not a terrible result, especially when you consider Birmingham were robbed of a win against Chelsea earlier this season at St. Andrews.

Played moderately well. Birmingham fought like dogs. You can see why they are on a good run. We were well on top until their goal. Took too long to get going again after that. Fergie should have made changes earlier.

It's a decent point but obviously not enough to stop the "united are finished" stuff from the media and the more hysterical United fans.

That ESPN commentary though. Christ.

Well said nobody fecking has the bollocks to let one go it's getting rather annoying.

We don't look a threat, this is very worrying and most frustrating because Chelsea and Arsenal are giving us every opportunity. Shitty must think that they have a real chance of getting into the mix. The decision to bring on Diouf into a game like this (rather than Owen) baffled me.

It was always going to be a tough game .. lucky to come up away with a point actually with the goal. Just hope that SAF stops being stubborn and changing the side every game ... 100 is surely enough. And please go shopping and get a bit of attacking quality ... value or not.

RedCafe needs a fecking cull. At least that's Soapythecat gone. 1 down, 500 other Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime to go.

Wise up you wankers. Birmingham are the form side in the league. We battered them and they scored a fluke from a set piece. We got back in the game and it was set up for a grand stand finish until Clattenburg decided to be a shit ref again having done well up until the red card. With 10 men it could go either way against a good side, but we got a point.

If you don't like it, feck off you spoilt bastards.

they had the better chances to win, we couldn't pass, constant long balls, players bottling out of headers, woeful distrubtion from the back and a terrbile decision to bring Diouf on...Fletcher was a complete prick aswell. That ref was dying for an opportunity to send someone off and Fletcher played into his hands.

When you can't score against an average side like them, it's worrying. Bringing Diouf on was a pathetic decision too.

that was immenseley frustrating, why diouf suddenly gets a nod ahead of owen when we are chasing a goal is a mystery as well

best post of this thread.

Don't lose faith guys, we've won three titles in a row! how can a team that has done that become bad overnight!

Is that an attempt at sarcasm?

Because if it is, and you just said we're that bad, then you're a lot more pessimistic than I thought.

We scored a goal against the third(?) best defence in the league, and dominated the game, that was all we should be expecting to get against a team that well drilled defensively, the only problem was our defending for the goal.

Which is pretty obviously because we don't have our two first choice defenders, because they're injured.

Only brightside for me today was that we didnt lose, everything else really sucks. Our midfield isnt the problem we had lots of possession and most was down to them dominating it but in the final third we look lost of ideas. I would give anything for SAF to go into the market and get a creative player or striker to allow Rooney to drop back or even another winger because when you are relying on a 36 year old winger turns CMF to play on the wing again something has to be wrong

ah get fecked. The fletcher comment is woeful.

that's as maybe - we still don't look like the united of old - and that's not good enough in my book

No not really maybe a first touch?

heh. With all the Diouf is the One wankfest going on here I personally had very low hopes. Manucho, dong, Diouf...that's my level of expectation for a player that nobody had ever heard of before us. Hope he proves me wrong, but unlike some i'm not believing the hype.

That being said, it's hard to judge him by todays performance. Conditions were horrid and he was thrown in at the deep end.

Oh and one up front doesnt work at all, it just doesnt, same story everytime, posseion in midfield but feck all on the end of it, rooney is not an up front on his own type of player because he tracks back and gets stuck in to much, verges on have a 6 man midfield

Thats SAF playing on instinct rather than reality. I think he was trying to do a Macheda with Diouf, sadly he hardly got a controlled touch on the ball during his ten odd mins. Why get Owen if you dont trust him in these sort of games.

We battered them first half.

Frustrating. Toothless but the general play was decent up until they scored, then seemingly like at other times this season, we don't know how to react.

In years gone by when that clock went up with 3,4,5 minutes of added time, it gave us added incentive. Today, as it has been a lot recently, there was nothing...we were down to 10 mind, but still, I don't think we tocuhed it for those 6 added on minutes.

If you get over the fact we're unlikely to win the league, it makes such results less annoying but Fergie coming out and saying we don't need other players is cause for concern.

Aye, you'll never win anything with kids hey Rob? ;)

That's what they said about the group when Beckham started... but this is a completely different scenario. The only player the showed passion and unrelenting drive is Valencia. I like the kid Valencia, but as many of us have said many times, he can't carry the club the same way Ronaldo did when he was with the club.

Touche. I'm glad someone shares the same thought.
The players are the same more or less, its bound to come together soon.

And I thought we had a sensible comment. Its getting harder to spot the difference in matchday threads now.

Again that's the point...

A side scores against us and we panic.

The thing is nobody can just have a rant. We've all done it coming away from OT or whatever away ground.

It's part of it...nothing to do with not supporting the side.

Everyone is entitled to say 'that was shite'.

i blame fergie for playing rooney up front by himself

This. 4-5-1 why, oh why? We're playing Birmingham not Barcelona. If Birmingham had come to Old Trafford with that formation we'd have said they'd come for a draw. We failed to real create anything after the Birmingham goal, and thought we were a bit fortunate to nick a point based on the 2nd half performance, a draw probably about right overall though. Not sure why it took Fergie so long to put a 2nd striker on either. I just feel we are missing a bit of presence in the team at the moment. At least everyone else keeps chucking points away too!

Because Owen would have been completely useless today. Against a defense thats rock solid, he would be just another waste of space. What annoyed me was a lack of running on the ball when Fletcher got sent off. More of a case of hoofing it up field. Need to move as a unit.

that's as maybe - we still don't look like the united of old - and that's not good enough in my book

Boohoo, so we don't look like one of the greatest club sides in the history of football. Woe, woe.

Taking the last 8 games alone, Birmingham would be top of the league. A point is a good result, and we played well for the majority.

Anyway, toodle pip if you can't tolerate a United side who might possibly
not be as good as ther glorious predecessors.
