Birmingham v Manchester United

I'm not a fan of Gibson, I must admit. However I'll judge his performance on what I see tonight and wipe out any other opinion I already have of him.

Rooney should worry about fecking hitting the net himself before he worries about lambasting any of his team mates.

Not being funny, but it's time the fat feck started to pay back his handsome wages with proper performances.

None of this "he's still playing his way in" bollocks, he's had more than enough games now.

He's putting in good performances though for the most part, and if he continues to assist Berbagoals I'll be happy enough.

He's still young, and it's way too early to start saying things like that.

He's 21 and ought to be given a chance under these circumstances - we're left with no wingers and he still doesn't get a game. Same things were said about Tosic - he's still young, he'll find his way in but it never happened. I think Obertan's case might be similar, then again someone will probably kill me right now for saying that.

It's a bit of a joke comparison in fairness. Massively harsh on Gibbo.

How can an obvious joke be harsh?
Scored more than Scholes, Carrick or Fletcher last season! Arguably missed against West Ham. Decent enough IMO.

As long as Gibson makes more passes than he takes shots, it will be a progress.

What I don't like is that Obertan's never going to play. We didn't give him a run on Saturday, he's not included today - I have a suspicion that there might not be much of a future for him at United.

What the Christ have you been smoking tonight? First Gibson is being played so we can sell him and now Obertan doesn't have a future despite being 21.

edit: ok sorry the Gibson thing wasn't you, but still, writing off Obertans future is crazy.

In comparison to Tosic Obertan is practically a first team player so it's hardly an apt comparison.

He's doing okay Nick.

I think the lauding of recent performances against Blackburn and Sunderland are more of an indicator of how poor his general form has been since March - i.e. those performances are being regarded more positively because they represent an improvement on his general form.

From what I see, he's still a half second too slow in his decision making. It's not happening naturally for him at the moment.

Given his conduct, I'd say he's less entitled to a period of good grace. He needs to start delivering performances that are in line with his contract and standing at the club. No goal in open play since March is dire, irrespective of how we try to frame it.

Think people are going a little overboard on the Gibson thing, this is only his first league start of the season.

Michael Owen has had more, I think?

Obertan just came back into the squad rom an illness or injury. He said earlier that he'd be surprised if he starts. Just ike Fletcher, he is on the subs due to lack of fitness or match sharpness.. Just ike Giggs a few weeks ago. I don't we should read too much into it.

He had a good game against Valencia too, and he's come very close to scoring on a number of occasions, bringing good saves from keepers and very narrowly missing that chip the other day which had the keeper beaten.

I'm obviously keen for him to find the net, and he should be doing, but I'm not getting too concerned as long as his partnership with Berba is producing the goods.

Ah, I see. I was kind of worried that he wouldn't play even now. I think he has loads of potential, he's still a bit rough and his decision making is awful at times but he won't improve that bit without playing. I hope he gets plenty of starts in January as he might prove to be a valuable addition.

We've been shit so far.

Gibson's thing wasn't mine indeed, as for Obertan I was kind of worried because he should be playing when there are no other wingers available - but if he's just coming back from illness then I won't pay much attention to the fact that he isn't.

Has Gibson fecked up yet? Has Rooney still not scored from open play yet?

Rooney nutmegs the ref.
