Blackburn Rovers v Manchester Utd

Must win. Anything else and not only do we give those other wannabes hope but, also puts pressure on us

At this point don't care about goal difference as long as we get the win.

We need to batter Blackburn tonight. None of this getting a goal then farting around for the rest of the match. GD is still 3 so I hope we close that up.

We don't need to batter them. We just need to win.

Some of you seem to forget winning isn't that easy in this league, forget battering teams senseless. Wolves were pathetic when we beat them recently. If Blackburn are as bad (or a man down), we can maybe expect something similar. But I suspect it will be a tough game which we'll have to work hard and play well to just win.

Next 2 games should be taken like cup finals. Win today and we have a big advantage to put immense pressure on them when they go to Arsenal.

5 points at this stage will really test their resolve. I would be very very confident of us winning the title if we can extend it to 5. Their confidence, which has been supreme for most of the season, will take another big hit. And with their best player (Silva) struggling for form it won't look good.

Haven't felt nerves for a league fixture like this for a while now, I like it.

I suspect we'll draw in all honesty, but a win would be a huge result. Not discounting our fixture on the weekend, giving City an 8-point mountain to climb so soon after them leading us by 5 would be a pretty big mental hurdle for them to clear.

I wonder if they'll be able to pull another moral victory out of the bag?

Test the mettle time tonight. A team performance to show why United deserve this title as opposed to the whining, bickering mercenaries at City.

A win tonight and against QPR will put an 8-point gap between us and City before they have to go the Emirates.

That would be an immense psychological advantage, and should they lose against Arsenal, I'd like to think that would be too big of an advantage for City to overturn in 6 games.

Last home game they beat Sunderland 2-0 who have been on a fantastic run since O'Neill took the job.

Last 5 home matches:

3-1 Fulham [Jan 14]
0-2 Newcastle [Feb 1]
3-2 QPR [Feb 11]
1-1 Villa [Mar 3]
2-0 Sunderland [Mar 20]

3 win, 1 draw & 1 loss is pretty good home form.

They are 5-1-9 at home this year, from 2-0-8 before their last five, their form constitutes a huge improvement over earlier in the year, a shame we couldn't have gotten this out of the way in 2011.

Blackburn at home against the top 7:

0-1 Everton [Aug 27]
4-3 Arsenal [Sep 17]
0-4 City [Oct 1]
1-2 Spurs [Oct 23]
0-1 Chelsea [Nov 5]
0-2 Newcastle [Feb 1]
?-? United

FA didn't do us any favors making us the only top 4 team that has to play at Ewood in the 2nd half of the season.

I would be very shocked if we battered Blackburn , we never have done before at Ewood Park.
It will be a very close game they always are , I would like a good solid 0-3 win but in reality I would take a scrappy 0-1 last minute goal.

Sean's team
Starting XI

370209_Manchester_United.jpg

Bench: Amos, Smalling, Jones, Pogba, Welbeck, Berbatov, Chicharito
Not in the squad: Giggs, Park, Fabio
Out: Vidic, Nani, Fletcher, Anderson, Owen, Lindegaard, Fryers, W.Keane

Some words to the team-selection
I think we're needing definitely five players in midfield against Blackburn and i want to see finally Cleverley-Carrick-Scholes in the same team.
Three strikers on the bench is a lot but Giggs is terrible in the last weeks, Park is terrible the whole season and we don't need three defenders (Fabio) on the bench.
I'm thinking along the same lines for the midfield battle and almost have the same team - except I'd prob have Smalling or Jones at RB.

There's no way we can drop points here given the circumstances and the fact we know what's at stake. If we don't win the league we deserve to be labelled bottlers, but we're Man United so we're going to do it!

This isn't a must win game, we can lose it and still go on to win the title. It would be a huge momentum concession, but not fatal at all.

You'd think we're due to batter them, but I'm sure we've thought that for a few years now.

Friedel being gone could be the big difference though.

As long as Fergie doesn't f*ck about with the team selection we should be okay. Put the form team out there, get em fired up and let them do their jobs. Nothing fancy, or tailoring to the opposition, or experimental or any of that crap. We LOST to this team at home earlier in the season, that should be motivation enough.

(De Gea, Rafa,Rio,Evans,Evra,Scholes,Carrick,Valencia,Young,Rooney,Welbeck)

In that case, 3-0 win ill be fine. :)

The Fergie f*cking up team selection accusation is really tiresome. He along with coaching staff saw the players day in and day out watching/coaching them in training. Sir knows who's in form, ready for certain games or not and hence he is to select, not you or any John Smith, who have no personal knowledge of how the players train and never observe the players off pitch. Who's to say he f*ucked up selection whenever we did not win? if selection is easy, you will be the manager. There are so many reasons how a team is picked, players psychology and man management skills included.

SSN are really building this game up. Flashbacks of previous Blackburn wins before they cut to the adverts, interviews with former Rovers players etc. cnuts.

All shitty fans, players and staff will be watching too. Not blaming SSN treating this game seriously. It can be the game of the season and title decider! LOL

Very mature. I forgot that Fergie and his team have never made any mistakes, and are above criticism from lowly fans like myself. We might as well shut the forum down now eh?

Man, would have loved to see those training sessions back in December with Park and Rafael pinging about passes between each other - dominating the midfield in training...

Just need a strong start. Early goal a bonus , they will press us all over the pitch , but our quality will shine through.
Be nice if Jones got the winner

This, and lets not forget Blackburn have been in pretty good form off late

Will be interesting to see Hoilett against us. Given Demebele's relative success at dropping a shoulder and running through our midfield, if I were Steve Kean I'd deploy the Hoilett the exact same way.

I think it's virtually guaranteed we're going to give a goal away. Just hope we bring our shooting boots so it doesn't matter.

Can't see anything too unusual with team selection. Quite different to the periods when we had tons of injuries (not that we're not missing players now, but still...) and trying to accomodate an assault on several fronts.

As for tonight, well, it's not really must win in terms of the title, but it's certainly must win in terms of calming the nerves!

Other than Pedersen and Yakubu and a couple of other blokes whom i have forgotten, who have Blackburn got these days? Nelsen and Samba have left, who are their starting centrebacks? Salgado has vanished too isn't he?

Hoilett is their best player I think. Olsson the left back is quite good as well. Robinson also been impressive.

Of the aforementioned players it was Samba who gave us most trouble at OT.While they have a decent record at home of late we'll have a better team out than last time and we'll be better prepared than before.

Exactly, if we had a proper defence and midfield that day we would have beaten them. Rafael and Park in the centre of midfield is a complete joke really, luckily we have most of the squad to choose from tonight and should be fine.

Batter them? We have 10 points in 10 years at Ewood. I'll be delighted with a 1-0 win even if it's a pathetic performance.
