I'd have to agree on not liking the idea of Anderson and Giggs in the middle. While we've never seen it tested, for some reason I'm just not too trusting in it. I don't think either of them are defensive enough to protect the back four, but it could work.

Fletcher has to start if he's fit, if not then it's O'Shea over Fletcher. It's one of Giggs or Anderson for the other central midfield spot IMO.

Fletcher is good at both his offensive and defensive duties, while O'Shea is an anchor there like Malalele. Both Anderson and Giggs can pick out killer balls, but Giggs rarely wins tackles and breaks play up. However, Giggs might be a little better at passing and we know he's probably more likely to score a goal than Anderson.
 
I'm trying to remember what went wrong last time (drawing 1-1 at the last minute).....

Perhaps it was just Freidel doing his usual and we had enough chance to win - if that was the case then we should be ok for a win

It might have been the fatigue that crept in at the end of last season or the slight complacency which nearly lost us the league

Don't mind Fletcher's inclusion but there is no way OShea should start in midfield, Blackburn are worlds better than Aalborg

Was waiting for this, like your line-up although your predicted score should be edging towards 3-1 or 4-1, this hopefully will kick start our season once and for all.
 
I think we will draw here, not pessimstic, but this is usually a tough fixture. I can't see us losing though, depends on what kind of day our attackers have, and its usually not the very best away from home.

No Brad 'Superman' Friedel today, should be a win, even though Ewood Park usually is a very tough trip. Compared to last season's 1-1 draw, they also miss Bentley and Santa Cruz is still searching his top form. I'd go with the following line-up:

Ronaldo - Fletcher - Anderson - Nani
Berbatov - Tevez​

I wouldn't be surprised to see Park, O'Shea and Giggs in there though, Nani had a horrible midweek game and Giggsy would give us some more experience in the centre of the pitch. That midfield in particular looks very young on paper, Ronaldo 23, Fletcher 24, Anderson 20 and Nani only 21.
Get an early goal and kill the game on the counter.

Without Giggs I think that midfield could cope. Arsenal have midfields averaging in the early 20's week in week out so our youth should be able to cope on their own.

Chelsea are the only team who come close.
 
I think Giggs is due a start after his excellent form against Aalborg. Wouldn't mind seeing Fletcher, Anderson and Giggs in there together, with Ronaldo on the right and Evra as usual providing the genuine width on the left. Nani isn't earning a starting place at the moment. Park probably is and I'd have no problem with him starting ahead of Giggs, with Giggs probably coming on when Anderson tires anyway.

And logic and prudence be damned, I would love Rafael to get the nod at right back.

I gave up predicting Fergie's line up a long time ago, but my vaguely muppetish choice is:

Brown back in the team please. Rafael was very good, but this is a very, very tough fixture.

Fletcher-Giggs central midfield. Not Anderson, because Giggs offers more guile.

Blackburn have been pretty leaky at the back and we should be able to fill our boots. We have been better defensively since the Liverpool farce. I see a decent win here.
