Barclays Premier League

Sunday 11th April 2010
KO - 13:30 BST [GMT+1]

If we can lift ourselves we've still got a title to try and retain here.

Even if Rooney thinks he is fit rst him up, same goes for Paddy.

I'd be inclined to keep Rafael and Gibson in the Starting XI myself, start Macheda.

@Nick, do you have a good thread starting record?

If not, delete this thread please

I haven't done hardly any this season, so it's hard to know.

I did start the Roma 7-1 thread and Milan's CL revenge over Liverpool as i recall however.

I'd play -

Van der Sar; Rafael, O'Shea, Ferdinand, Vidic; Park, Giggs, Scholes, Gibson; Macheda, Berbatov

Subs: Kuszczak, Evans, Fabio, Carrick, Obertan, Nani, Diouf (if fit by then. If not, Will Keane).

Yes, I'd rest Fletcher, Valencia and Evra. We'll need their energy renewed for the title run in. I certainly wouldn't risk Rooney either. The above team should still beat Blackburn.

SUBS : Walsh, Robson, Neville (P), Blackmore, McClair, Scholes

Ah 94. My fave United team. Should have Incey in there though. And Parker is a better RB than Neville who lacks experience.

Blackburn better get the lube at the ready. After the 3 games we've just had, somebody's going to get an arse fecking.

Strongest team possible please. We only have a handful of games left, that's it...if we had won tonight, then yes, we would have needed to rest certain players. Get the game won v Blackburn, then sub/rest the feckers.

You'd hope so, but our European hangovers have been ridiculous.

Still, I think we'll win this, and now we don't have to contend with with any more European hangovers, I give us a good chance of lifting the league if we negotiate this.

Rafael ----- Rio -- Vidic -----O'shea

--------- Berbatov -- Macheda ------

This is what I'd go for but I wouldn't be surprised to see Giggs and Park start the game on the flanks as Nani in particular ran himself into the ground tonight.

Park will play and I think Evra should sit this one out or be on the bench, hopefully he won't be needed.

Hangover or not we have to smash them, Blackburn and Sunderland are the final places where we can boost our goal difference.

van der Sar
Neville - Ferdinand - Vidić - O'Shea
Valencia - Fletcher - Scholes - Park
Berbatov - Macheda

Kuszczak
Gibson
Evans
Nani
Rafael
Carrick
Giggs

That's a good team.
It's a shame we got knocked out, but at least no more CL distraction, so we can fully concentrate on the league. Remember, this season is all about getting our 4th consecutive league title (and of course topping the Scousers). We still have a really good chance to win it this season, so hopefully we won't feel too bad of ourselves as there's always next year's Champions League.

Assuming that Wazza is crocked:

Edwin
Rafael - Rio - Vidic - Evra
Valencia - Scholes - Carrick - Nani
Berbatov - Macheda

van der Sar
Rafael Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Fletcher Scholes
Gibson
Valencia Berbatov Nani
--
Kuszczak; Neville, Evans; Carrick, Giggs; Macheda, Rooney

Maybe a spot for Park there too, and O'Shea. We'll see.

Rafael, Valencia, Gibson, and Nani were all excellent against Bayern I feel, I think all of them should get another start. If Rooney doesn't make the bench, then Park or O'Shea will. Or perhaps Park would be a starter and Valencia on the bench. If Rooney isn't fit to start, I don't think we'll go 442 from the start..

Agree with this post 100% - this is what I would like to see.

Except that O'Shea might actually start on the right and Evra on the left.

Some big plus points from Bayern, as well as some negatives. But let's not dwell. Rafael hopefully will be given a show of support. Gibson, Nani and Valencia all deserve to start.

VDS

Rafael Rio Vidic O'Shea

Valencia Gibson Scholes Nani

Berbatov Macheda

I'd rest Nani, Evra and Rooney, it's obvious he wasn't 100%. We have city after this, we need these three players fresh as fook. After the Blackburn game it's Saturday, Saturday, Sunday. Depending on morale and confidence this should be enough to win at Ewood Park.

VDS

Rafael Rio Vidic O'Shea

Valencia Carrick Scholes Park

Berbatov Macheda

Then revert to 4-5-Rooney for City away, 4-5-Berba is clearly not working.

great to have the option of O'Shea.

Five games left until a Summer break

Full-strength team in all five please

Blackburn are a very big physical/powerfull side and everyone knows how allardyce likes his teams to 'play', the ball will be launched into the box at every opportunity from all angles going and i think fergie might prefer O'Sheas height in this one, thinking back to the goal diouf scored against chelsea at the back stick after Ivanovich had gone off a few weeks ago for me highlights the threat their wide players pose more in the air than on the ground and makes me think fergie will want the biggest side possible for sunday.....O'Shea played just about half the match yesterday so i fancy he'll start him this weekend baring any ill effects, just a feeling.

Also would like to see Macheda given the nod here and think he will, dont think we need a 5 man midfield for this one as Blackburn will likely play 4-4-2 and Berbatov hasnt looked happy up top alone in recent weeks, Give Macheda a run out see how he does.

Tough game will be physically testing fancy us to edge it 2-1, were due a break and dare i say a bit of luck after recent events.

Might be worth sticking Ritchie DeLaet or Corry Evans on the bench if Diouf did make it (unless that's the Evans you meant), Keane's a bit inexperienced and O'Shea is still a risk. We could bring on Evans and throw Vidic upfront if the situation get's utterly desperate.

Oh, and if he's avaliable OWEN HARGREAVES

No chance whatsoever but it doesn't stop me dreaming.

I'm going to be highly pissed if Dima-**** is up top! Id rather have Nani leading the line like he did against Bayern, he did a great job. Hopefully Macheda gets his chance to shine.

442 please SAF

Rafael to start - thought the lad was class on Wednesday(up to sending off).

Kiko and Berba up top will do the trick.

O'shea poss LB for Evra - that boy needs a rest!

2-0 united.
