Barclays Premier League
Bloomfield Road, 25/01/2011
Last time United played at Blooomfield Road when the Sad Sweet Dreamer by Sweet Sensation was at the top of the best songs list in UK. Date? 19th October 1974. After goals scored by Forsyth, Macari and McCalliog we won 3-0.
Finally, after nearly two months than previously planned, we are to play Blackpool away. We exactly remember lack of games we had in December, we thought that January will be much harder in this case, but when we look at our calendar, it wasn’t as hard. But yes, we finally came to a situation, when we have four matches in eleven days. And without Park and Valencia, we may not see good-looking Manchester United in one or two of those games or after scoring the first goal.
Firstly, why some posters think Rafael shouldn’t start? Ok, Sheasy played very well against Birmingham and I obviously agree, but why someone says there’s a possibility Fergie may play him since the first minute tonight? Don’t forget Rafael is at the moment our first choice right-back and he was suspended for only one game. I’m sure he’s not out of form because of that and clearly there’s no risk to give him chance to start his 55th match for United (64th overall). We have to wait for any news about Rio and to be honest Blackpool may give us some problems, so I would rather give him a break on Saturday than tomorrow, as I think Southampton won’t be as dangerous as Holloway’s team. Vidic and Evra of course start (Pat without any doubts, being rested just after 45 minutes on Saturday). As we have Cup game next weekend, if it’s time for Kuszczak or Lindegaard to play, it’s of course at St. Mary’s stadium.
I think we may expect Anderson on the bench tonight. He played 90 minutes on Saturday and after reading his interview, we know he’s still not 100% back from that injury, so, especially with Scholes fit again, I would play him alongside Fletcher as we need strong midfield – we really can’t under-rate Blackpool, this game may be a tricky one and we need experience of Giggs and Scholes mixed with Nani (hopefully not as selfish as he was in last game). Of course Giggs to start, after being rested after 55 minutes against Brummies. Berbatov and Rooney look as very dangerous partnership and we can just imagine how more dangerous they can become if Rooney finally finds his scoring form. I’m sure both of them start tonight.

There are two possible changes in that line-up I predict, but it’s gonna be decided by Fergie. We don’t know as much as he does. If Rio’s unfortunately not fit or if Fergie doesn’t want to risk his health, Smalling to start alongside Vidic and on the bench goes Evans. My opinion on Anderson is based on interview I read and 90 minutes three days ago, I don’t know what’s in Fergie’s head, but we may see him tonight and that’s shouldn’t surprise us – moreover, we should be happy that there are much less problems with his fitness. And about bench… if Hernandez is injuried or just ill, we’ll see Obertan, as he will probably start against Southampton and if there’s a chance to come on the pitch later in the game, he should definitely get some minutes before Saturday.
We have a great opportunity to go five points clear. We may have five more than Arsenal, six more than City (with one game played less) and ten more than Chelsea! I’m sure most of us have had in mind those three points more and it will be a big blow if players won’t win tonight. It doesn’t mean I think it will be an easy battle for those points. Give us three more tonight, Ian, and we will give it back to you in the last match of the league season, when you’ll beat newly crowned champions of England.
