Bolton Wanderers vs Manchester United

If Jääskeläinen plays like an animal, I could see Bolton escaping with a draw, but I don't consider that very likely. We should be able to get a fairly comfortable victory here.

I'll be stunned if this game is comfortable.

I expect a difficult game and even though Bolton have already lost 12 games this season, I wouldn't be too surprised if we drop points there. Hopefully Evans will be fit and Tevez makes at least the bench...

Van der Sar
Neville - Vidic - Evans - O'Shea
Ronaldo - Carrick - Fletcher - Park
Anderson
Berbatov

subs: PIG, Rafael, Scholes, Giggs, Nani, Welbeck, Tevez

1-1 (Ronaldo).

That team seems very reasonable should Tevez not make it, I'd just have us down for a win, fingers crossed. Although our striker situation may seem slightly worrying without Rooney who acts as so much more than just a striker and Tevez who fights for everything, but Ronaldo is due a goal, hopefully a brace of goals and we still have Berbatov so its not all doom and gloom. Well up for this one and can't wait!

A 4-3-3 I think (assuming Tevez doesn't make it)

-------------------- van der Sar --------------------

--- Neville ----- Evans -------- Vidic ------ O'Shea ---

--------- Carrick ----- Anderson ------ Fletch ---

-----Ronaldo---------------------------------Park----

---------------------- Berbatov --------------------

Subs : PIG, Rafael, Nani, Giggs, Scholes, Welbeck, Possebon

0-2 win for us and back to the top where we belong !

Getting a wee bit thin on the ground with injuries now aren't we ? Looking forward to Wes returning, along with Rio & Paddy........

Our for Bolton are Elmander, Nolan and McCann. Two of their first choice central midfielders I think.

Ronaldo--------Berba-----Tevez--------

----------------- Van der Sar ------------------
Neville ------ Vidić -------- Evans ------ O'Shea
------- Carrick --------------- Anderson -------
Ronaldo ------------ Giggs ---------------- Park
------------------ Berbatov --------------------

Subs: Kuszczak; Rafael; Fletcher, Scholes, Possebon, Nani; Welbeck.

  • If Tévez is fit, he plays and Giggs drops to the bench; Possebon out of the squad.
  • Is Wes Brown near full fitness yet?
  • It'd be nice to see Tošić on the bench and maybe get a chance, but he'll probably get his debut in a match at Old Trafford.
Rafael might've earned his place in the side with that performance against Wigan, but Gary's a better physical presence that we should need against Bolton. Fletcher may well start this game as well.

Expecting a scrappy game, we'll probably draw but I predict another 0-1. (Which I'll gladly fecking take!)

Bolton Wanderers 0-1 Manchester United
-------------------- Cristiano Ronaldo

Wonder if Fabio will make the bench for this one!

Or - if EVans/O'Shea not fit even start!

Any win will do just to get us where we belong and above the murderers
Fancy 2-0 Ronaldo and Tevez
Just hope they don't kick us off the pitch and we pick up more injuries..

Was it not said at the beginning of the new twins coming.. that Rafael could play both sides but was more adapted to the right and his brother the left?

So, Tevez and Evans are doubtful. James Chester has been drafted into the squad. This would probably be the worst case scenario team.

Starting 11

Tevez?

From Manutd.com

“We’ve got fitness tests on two players, possibly three, on Saturday morning. [Carlos] Tevez and [Jonny] Evans are major doubts. They will have a fitness test at 10am. There are one or two others that are doubtful."

If Evans were to miss the trip to the Reebok, it would hit United in a position that is already suffering from numerous absentees. Gary Neville may step in alongside Nemanja Vidic at centre-back, while Reserves captain James Chester is another possibility.

“I've brought James Chester into the squad," added Sir Alex. "Although he hasn't played in the first team, he is still a capable young player. If it has to be, then it has to be. That’s why we have a big squad.

“But with Wes, Rio and Patrice all out, it would be a major blow if Evans isn't available, particularly because of the form he has been in.”

Now that's fecked up.

If Evans doesn't make it, the most likely possibilities for the back four are:

Rafael---Neville--Vidic--O'Shea

Neville---O'Shea--Vidic--Fabio

Neville--Chester--Vidic--O'Shea

All a bit untried! Hope he makes it.

If Berba is going to play on his own up front I'd expect to see Nani on the wing, not Park - we'll need more attacking edge and with three in the middle the work rate of Park would be less critical.

Plus in all honesty I'd expect to see Neville at CB ahead of Chester, with Rafael at RB.

---------------------------Van der Sar---------------------------
Rafael---------Neville----------------Vidic-----------O'Shea

But to be honest I expect to see Tevez and Evans in the starting 11, Fergie likes to play with the press

I'd rather want O'shea at CB, and push Rafael or Neville to left back. If Neville is going to play out of position I'd much rather want him to play out position at left back than out of position in the middle. He will do less harm from the left.

If Tevez and Evans are out, which I doubt, this would be my team.

--------------------- VDS ----------------------

fecking hell we're really short on players aren't we, then again so are Bolton.

hehe, see below from my local's website.
Bolton are away at Chelsea too at the same time. hope we get their 2nd string.

I don't think Fergie will choose to play with a sole striker against a defensive Bolton side. They will make it tough for us to score getting possibly all men behind the ball. Also Giggs or Nani need to be in the starting lineup otherwise we would be fecked for crossing. Carrick was piss poor against Wigan although I think he was slipping.

My formation would be this:

--------------------- VDS ----------------------
Neville ------ Vidic ---- Evans ------- O'Shea
Ronaldo ---- Fletcher --- Giggs ----- Park
--------------Berbatov -- Tevez -----------

O'shea moving in the centre if Evans is missing and Fabio or Rafael playing on the left. Park also may be an alternative with Nani in front of him. Tevez being replaced by Welbeck if unfit.

That's almost the team that played Chelsea - would be happy with that line up.

No way ! hes performed perfectly well at centre half on more than one occasion

No way ! hes performed perfectly well at centre half on more than one occasion

How long ago was that? Last time I saw him there was in the League Cup versus Blackburn and he was a disaster there. If I see him at the centre of the defence when the line-ups come up, I won't be too confident.

IF he ends up in the centre, I hope we'll go for a 4-3-3 formation with 3 central midfielders to help out the defence when needed.

Gary Nev at CB wouldn't be too bad, he's coming into excellent form now and who do they have up front? Kevin Davies? Vidic can deal with him. Last year we struggled because Pique couldn't handle Anelka. Elmander is injured i think. So they will probably go 4-5-1. Bolton away is never easy but with the chance to go top i think the lads will be fired up. Ronaldo must turn up.

Assuming Evans & Tevez aren't fit I'd go with:

VDS
Rafael, Gaz, Vida, O'Shea
Ronnie, Fletch, Carrick, Andyson, Park
Berb

Subs: PIG, Giggsy, Scholes, Nani, Welbeck, Possebon, Chester

Remember, this is the only game of the season in which their stadium is full, so their players will be lifted even further.

I would not be surprised if we won by a scrappy 1-0, and I would take that in an instant.

VDS
Rafael-O'Shea-Vidic-Neville
Ronaldo-Fletcher-Carrick-Park
Tevez-Berbatov

Neville is an experienced player. Maybe have him at left back, with O'Shea bringing more of a physical presence in the centre. Or more likely, Neville at centre back and O'Shea left back.

Fletcher and Park for lots of midfield energy.

Will be interesting, I believe if we don't concede tomorrow we'll equal a league record will we not?
