Bolton Wanderers vs. Manchester United

Anyone else notice that everytime Bolton have a corner and Evra stands at the "post" he stands atleast 1 yard away from the post? It's ridiculous. He needs to be on the post, not a yard or two away

Very frustrating in a sense. We've looked very dangerous going forward but are so open that we can be opened up every time they go forward. It doesn't help that Evans, o'shea and to an extent evra are playing pretty badly at the moment. we've got a great chance to win this as Bolton tire but not if we defends like cnuts again.

Not doing yourself any favours...

Rooney is an odd one. While he's going through a goal drought he aquires the first touch of a mule and can look positively conference level. Yet as soon as he breaks that goal drought his whole game alters and he's back up there with the very best.

He just needs a goal. Come on Rooney.

good analysis.

He is trying..you feel he is almost there.

Second half ;)

One all at HT is good, they need a hairdryer and we'll see an improved performance.

Two things are worrying. That all their set pieces are dangerous, and that we expose ourselves too much. The only ones to track back are the two central midfielders, yet they or one of them are often far up the pitch when we lose the ball.

Berbs is keeping it simple. Rooney is the one coming deep everytime and trying to make things happen. Glad to see he's not hiding or becoming discouraged when things don't come off. If he keeps this up he'll create something in the second half.
Oh ok, so Rooney has been playing better than Berbatov because he's TRYING stuff, even though almost none of it is working for him, and his first touch and passing has been for the most part, dire?

Yeah, good logic.

Our defence is woeful. I mean it's laughably bad at times. It's making what should be a one sided game into an even contest.

Otherwise we look fine. Giggs has made a LOT of poor decisions with the ball at his feet though. Must have been four or five times he could have played someone in or gone on himself, but has played a nothing ball instead.

Right.

This game is not on Sky, is not on five live commentary and I don't have ESPN so I'm relying on this site for some idea of what is going on. The Beeb updates just give you an overview of the goals.

Thus far it seems that:

Defensively we are all over the place and Evans and JOS are playing utter shite. Evans is being solely responsible for the goal Knight scored. Evra's getting a little bit of criticism as well.

We seem to be creating plenty of chances and Nani has scored a wonder goal but other than Rooney having the first touch of a rapist I have no idea who has played well or being creating anything other than Fletcher and Giggs have been the ones to have the chance. Giggs, Berba and Scholes have not had much of a mention.

Can someone gives me an idea of how the first half has gone and who has played well, poorly, etc?

Thanks in advance.

I think I'd rather see Owen on for Rooney than watch him so out of sorts. Still think he should have had a day off today, to get his head together for Wednesday & reflect that he is not indispensible...

Do you think Rooney believes he's indispensible?

He's out of form, he knows that, he's not happy about it. Wednesday is not a 'Wayne Rooney day', so whose to say it would be better for him. He needs to play in order to get into form, and that's that really.

Yeah, good logic.

Why the comparison?

They both play in a TEAM...and are both playing well.

Evra would have stopped that one if he would just have been on the post, as he should have.

Funny that your username is Coleen.

Exactly, Rooney will play himself into form, he is working hard.

I feel we'll get another before the break

Why have you got a signature there?

If you have done this yourself, then remove it immediately.

Robbie Savage suggests Bolton should've taken Nani out. The talkinghead seemed rather shocked by such an ungentlemanly suggestion.

Yeah, good logic.

He's not been half as bad as you're making him out to be. Maybe because he's Wayne Rooney and is currently under the microscope so much an average performance from him gets magnified so much.

Yeah, good logic.

His first touch has not been dire, what fecking game are you watching?

I think that halfs summed up our season so far myself, played very well look excellent going forward with moments of magic from the usual suspects and yet equally look unrecognisably fragile at the back.

8 goals conceded already this season, defensively its as fragile as we've been for a long time for whatever reason, but our football is a lot better than in the past 2 seasons in my view and it dosnt surprise me our goals scored record up till now is a premier league high for us.

No, actually he should be standing about a wide pace away from the post, not right hard against it. It means that VDS effectively has a narrower goal to defend.

And what the fecks with the criticism of Rooney? i thought that was as good as weve seen him for some time, some great passes, a great long range effort and he looks threatening whenever on the ball, by recent standards hes been very very good.

Yep, he is working his way back to form but the blind muppets cant see it.

It's nice to actually play a team that want to play football and not just absorb our attacks for 90 minutes.

Hard to call where this will go now. We look like scoring. We look like conceding. A draw would be a disappointment but not a disaster.

After everyone else took a shit yesterday a draw would be veeery bad. United's looked good in bolton's end...especially Nani. More goals from United is a must. Evra needs to stay back and help Evans as bolton is targeting him.

I broadly agree, but it just ain't happening ATM

my comment was sarcasm, hence the ......
I think Evans has done some good stuff but nobody here would dare give him any credit'

 I see no reason people wouldn't want to give him credit. He's not a whipping boy around here like some make or made Berbatov or O'Shea. He's been okay since a nervy opening 10. He's doing what I would expect him to do. Hardly going to go out of my way during the run of play to say that he's been pretty good after shitting the bed at the beginning of the match. That's what half time is for... Unsurprisingly, thats where all the positive comments about the guy came from as well.
