ohhhh...

do you think timm will break into the first team?, the only critisism ive heard is that when shooting he takes to long to try and pick his spot.

Unless those injuries prevent him, then yes, definitely, and like Gary Neville said, he'll be a superstar.

After some serious sustained pressure around their box, Blake managed to fashion space for a very good shot which made the keeper dive down to the bottom corner to make the save.

Bit of a tussle in the box from the corner as one of their defenders tramples on McShane after knocking him down. Not booked somehow.

I hope that he does, from what I've heard of him (which admittedly isn't a lot) he sounds like a good one. He had a terrible time when he came on against Maccabi Haifa, it sounded like the occasion was too much for him - he's one for the future

:D

Morrison hits a pretty good long range shot, was the only thing he could do since he was closed down well - it went just high and wide.

I'm gonna go for O'Shane for us, and Partridge for them ;)

Jones for us, and either Brunt in attack for them or any one of their defenders.

COLLETT!!!! THIS YOUTH CUP IS OURS!!!!

2-0 Collett - looks like our 9th FA Youth cup is on its way....

Eagles crossed it, someone sorta dummied it (miscontrolled) and so it went wide left to Collett who really cracked the shot in.

Our patience has been rewarded, we soaked up their pressure and when their legs had gone, put them on the rack and got the killing goal. Gives us a degree of comfort in the home leg, hopefully we'll be able to express ourselves and play more of our attacking game - hope Mads is fit for it though.

Is that Gordon McQueen (again)? I heard that he thought Arse would win the league. poncey git.

It's Arthur Albiston on the radio not McQueen. McQueen is not a poncey git either you ignorant prick - he only picked Arse based on the fact their run in is much easier - had plenty of good things to say about Utd. Don't you remember his 99% comment when being signed from the Sheep?

Have to say that it was a very intelligent performance from us tactically, and Jones was the conductor of this orchestra and gave a Captain's performance, definitely my Man of the Match. A combination of tackling, pressing, controlling the tempo, playing safe when need be and getting forward and firing shots off - just like a young Keano.

Well we need a young Keano coz the real one's looking a little long in the tooth.

Giggzy was watching it on Sky though, and McQueen defo sounded more Boro Red than United Red tonight.

Stand corrected then - but McQueen was a legend to me when I was a kid and doesn't deserve to be slagged off by any Utd. fan.

Haven't been able to watch him that much, he doesn't play for the reserves yet and the Academy coverage is just highlights of either the U19's or U17's, but what I've seen of him he looked alright, it was only seeing him in full games in the Youth Cup that I can appreciate how he controls the tempo and play, which I am very impressed by.

I thought Brunt was pretty impressive for them. Will be interesting to see if he can make it as we need some young N.I talent coming through.

I didnt think much of Eagles on the right, needs to work on his final ball IMO.

(but then that could be levelled at some first teamers too!)

We didn't play nearly as well as we did against Charlton, but Boro deserve the credit for keeping us under pressure a lot. Eagle's form has dipped a bit recently though. Shame Mads was injured for most of the match too.

Players that have impressed : ( only watched the first half)

Jones
Johnson

I was pretty impressed by Johnson as well. Final ball let him down sometimes, other than that was a handful throughout.

Boro should't have taken Partridge ;) off, our full backs got forward more towards the end.

Still dunno what to make of Timm (albeit only 2 viewings, Maccabi and this one)...obviously loads of invention and skill, but looked lightweight, not especially quick, backed out of challenges a lot. PL material ?

Paul McShane looked useful. Is he related to Harry McShane, an ex-player who used to do the announcements at the game in the 60's ?

Timm is very quick, which you'd have been able to see if you'd been able to watch the last match, but he was carrying an injury during most of this game, they kept on whacking him and marking him tight on account of what he did to Charlton. He's got a bigger build than most of our youth players though, and he'll need it as creative players do get given a rough time.

Fair enough...maybe I'll reserve final judgement for a few years !
