He's always been great in the league - particularly strong at building attacking teams - and poor in the chess matches of European football.
He's lost a few chess matches in the PL too. His team is set up for attack and he gets found out against well organised sides like Potter's BrightonHe's always been great in the league - particularly strong at building attacking teams - and poor in the chess matches of European football.
I wouldnt call it throwing away the opportunity. He didn't exactly play kids and sacrifice the game.
I think fa Cup is a better option for them as they are close to the semi finals (though they have us)
And it's one off games
Making the champions League by top4 is a better option for them too
I was surprised they went out but missing a few key players for a team like Leicester does make a difference
Ditto,Well fair enough maybe throwing it away was harsh but you catch my drift.
Even as a United fan never mind Leicester if my options were top 4 vs winning the Uefa Cup i'd prefer the latter every time.
Oh of course. Winning the Europa with Jose was more enjoyable than coming second the year after.Well fair enough maybe throwing it away was harsh but you catch my drift.

Weird. Loads on here before the first leg of the Sociedad tie were saying they don't care about the EL and would happily play the youngsters and go out. Now when Leicester go out, it's apparently a big deal.
He picked a strong enough team.Weird. Loads on here before the first leg of the Sociedad tie were saying they don't care about the EL and would happily play the youngsters and go out. Now when Leicester go out, it's apparently a big deal.

there were only 3 players available that he didn't pic that would be considered first choice and all 3 came on, we picked a team that was good enough to win we simply didn't play wellIf i supported a team that had never won any European trophies and only won 2-3 trophies of any description in the last 50 or so years i think i'd care about throwing away the opportunity to win one.
Meaning you were outplayedthere were only 3 players available that he didn't pic that would be considered first choice and all 3 came on, we picked a team that was good enough to win we simply didn't play well

we didn't as I said only Barnes, Ricardo and Castagne who would be considered first choice and were available didn't start and all 3 were brought on, had we picked the kids and sacked it off people would have more of an argumentI think the point is more that he's never had a good European record at any club. I don't think Leicester, despite top 4 being a great target for them, should be snubbing a European competition either.

Do you have more examples though? Cause for your one example, I could counter with him beating City, who take well-organized to the next level. So I'm curious what's the actual sample size for being outdone in chess in league matches. Not having seen the match, I also wonder if that's what happened yesterday. (To be clear: I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm genuinely if this is correct in general or cherry-picking.)He's lost a few chess matches in the PL too. Didn't Conte reach the EL final with inter just last year? His record in Europe is seriously appalling. Was not expecting him to go out at this stage considering how he won the group comfortably. Similar to Conte in Europe, he can never seem to go far in Europe. Even Ranieri did a better job than him. Europa League is still a very prestigious trophy so for those that says he wouldn't be bothered, I don't think he would be happy to crash out in Europe again.

hardly his mental block that caused our players to pass like crap and play like strangers, that team was good enough to win the game, there is only so much the manager can do, maybe he could have gambled with the fitness of Castagne & Ricardo but if he had and they got reinjured I guarantee he would get more abuse from Leicester fans for that then thisWell, exactly? You 'tried' but he still went out which just shows he has a mental block when it comes to Europe.
its more the total lack or replacements available last night, Praet and Perez were injured and Iheanacho who probably would have played was banned from a BS yellow in the first leg so we moved Tielemans there, but that meant we didn't have a playmaker deeper, Rodgers is doing well given the lack of options in key creative positions, we need to focus on those positions in the summer but that was true before the season startedIt’s apparently due to Madison’s absence. If Madison keeps sidelined, it could be a repeat of what happened last season after project restart. He is the key man for Leicester.

Tbh I wouldnt be bothered if we went out in this round. Id rather concentrate on the league and give the lads a day off but the plastics would make that unbearable.
I think you are underestimating Slavia Prague, they are a very good side, probably won't be together much longer but they would do well in the PL if they were in it this season
if you mean the young lad who scored the second that's Sima the other is their captain I thinkZima looks a good player.

Fair enough, thanks for indulging me.City at the start of the season when they needed 3 penalties? City who are the best in Europe right now are not the City teams played in August/September. Jose turned them over and recently they strolled to a win over Liverpool and Spurs.
I'm just not over the moon impressed with Rodgers. I thought they bottled it big time the back end of last season, they flatter to deceive in a lot of games. Yes they have some good players but in games I've watched where they've both won and lost they have looked vulnerable and needed an individual performance to get them out of jail. They can win impressively at times but I saw them completely outplayed by Moyes' West Ham- the same Moyes who became a laughing stock on here.
I'm just saying that for him to be classed as a cult hero figure, he has to do a bit more against organised teams. Potter for me with Brighton's resources does a lot more against good sides. He's a far better coach in my book.
I'm not sure what the Conte reference is about. He's won the PL here and several Italian championships. I'm not seeing a comparison with Rodgers
Was it the same posters though?
He did but that was after dropping out from the CL group stages. I don't think they were in the EL from the start.Didn't Conte reach the EL final with inter just last year?
Sim Zima who’s got the keys to my bimmaNo, Zima the CB.
oh right, fair enoughI meant throwing the opportunity away as in playing poorly and not progressing. I wasn't suggesting the manager or players didn't try to win. Maybe poorly worded.
yeah he was decentNo, Zima the CB.

United have won European trophies before. And it was stupid when those people said that anyway.Weird.
