Brendan Rodgers | Rejoins Celtic on 3 year deal

This coming from United fans? Guys at least wait till our game is done before we start coming in here running down Leicester.

Why? Are supporters not allowed to critique others if their own side isn't top of the league?

I can't regard him as a top manager if his team comes crashing down under pressure. First was how he bottled Liverpool's title chance then Leicester top 4 chances last season and now this is starting again. If Leicester fails to make the top 4 again this season, I can't take him seriously.

They aren't the same side without Barnes/Maddison and Vardy hasn't been firing lately.

If Ole/Pep/Klopp lost a 14-point advantage in the space of 3 months you'd never hear the end of it. Rodgers has got some work to do to keep hold of Leicester's spot.

Klopp’s given up about 30 points in 3 months, from top of the table with room to spare to 23 points off the top - and I hope you’re right about never hearing the last of it because it’s music to my ears :-)

PS. You should have enough to beat the chavs today and good luck to you.

Really?

We've been absolutely destroyed by injuries this season. Probably more so than any other team, barring Liverpool.

He’s struggling now but they’ve had a lot of injuries, as we know that means you’re allowed to lose loads of matches. ;)

Our game today won't have anything to do with the way Rodgers set up his team.

Course we are. But it’s more the actual timing and the comments.
“I wouldn’t like watching us play this way against any decent team”.. I mean come on ...
We’re still to play today too, I dunno, I’d have waited../

But again this is brendan rodgers thread and people are commenting on his football. What's that got to do with our game or how we play today?

because you tend to set up the same way against good teams playing heavily on the counter?

As a Leicester fan, I think criticism of Rodgers football is fair, in all honesty.

Too many times this season we've sat back as soon as we have a lead and given up any pretense of playing football. Only so many times you can ride your luck. It nearly cost us against Newcastle and Villa, and it cost us today (against an Arsenal who were there for the taking).

Can't believe we rested key players in Europe for this!

Some odd choices tactically today. Would have thought the 2 upfront would have resulted in higher pressing but it hasn't, and leaving a young, inexperienced lad like Luke Thomas 1-on-1 with somebody with the tight control and trickery of Pepe was naive.

Christ.
The post wasn’t intended to be super serious. I mean I ended it with “let’s wait till our game is done”.

But we dont sit back for the whole first half with 30 percent possession against Arsenal or Chelsea. Yes we play on counter but not sitting and parking the bus like rodgers seem to do whenever he faces a big side.

So you are saying people should not comment on other teams performance thread when their game is going on because we have a game tonight. What a weird logic. Christ

In hindsight Luke Thomas was a mistake. But he'd performed relatively well recently, and it meant we could play Ricardo as an attacker (who offers more threat than Albrighton and is more reliable than Under) so I can understand the logic.

No excuses for how we've set out to play though. Gave up trying to play football after the 10th minute.

Maddison was a big loss for them today, he is still a good manager. I wouldn't put too much, just one game. I'm more curious about fact rodgers is not getting the best of Iheanacho, then again maybe the promise he showed in city was just a exception than a norm.

The injuries to their key players are growing. That’s a really difficult situation for them for the rest of the season.

Losing to Ars after resting players vs Slavia was such a Brenton thing. He did the same shit at Liverpool back in 2014 when they played Real in November (They had 3 points after 3 games in UCL - Lost to Basel and Real, won vs Ludogorets) He rested players for Chelsea match which they still lost.

4 players didn't start against Slavia, 3 of them came on and hte 4th isn't a regular starter but would have played if not banned, it wasn't like he made wholesale changes

Cannot believe I have to explain this....
Right, so the comments of “Id hate to watch us play like this against a decent team” and “Leicester are bottlers when it gets tough” are of course arguably true BUT coming from United fans it’s kind of funny (hence why I used a smiley), especially as we literally have a crunch game against a decent team coming up.

As we have a game later my comment about waiting to speak is on the insinuation that they could be jinxing it. Of course nothing they say has any relevance to what will happen later, we know that.

He has the experience over Arteta and has actually been in a title challenge in the PL, but it's his ego that keeps him from being a top manager.

Tough week for Leicester. Hopefully continues to the quarter final

Ok so you are saying we should just log off and not comment on any other teams performance because we are playing later. I would have understood you point if someone here was mocking Leicester, don't think anyone is doing that.

Has he been like that since day one at Leicester or has a certain setback or two made him become more reactive?

I remember after the Gerrard slip game he swore blind he would never play like that.

think its due in part to the space between games, trying to save energy and limit injuries

Momentum and the mental side to football is so important.

It was a terrible result to lose to Slavic Prague at home. No excuses for it. You want to keep paths to trophies alive as long as possible and keep players motivated. All eggs in one basket is a recipe for disaster.

If he drops out of the top 4 now, regardless of injuries, that could well be seen as a turning point in the season.

It was just a strange thing for you to say.

I think this new "sitting back" approach is something he discovered this season.

Last season we always tried to take the game to teams (and got battered in the process - a la Liverpool and Man City). We never used to set up to hit on the counter, but at the start of this season, we were forced into a slightly different way of playing, due to injuries (No N'didi, Ricardo or Soyuncu, if I remember correctly) and Rodgers went 5 at the back. Managed to sit back, hit on the counter and grind out a few wins this way - including Man City and Arsenal, if I remember correctly. While we don't play 5atb anymore, I think the style is now something Rodgers employs much more.

Until we lost against Leeds (and now Arsenal) we'd dropped 0 points from winning positions, so Rodgers clearly thought this new tactic works for him. But we've rode our luck way too many times, and were always going to eventually get punished for it. So often now we score and then pretty much take our foot off the gas. I can understand if he's trying to conserve energy, especially with the injuries we've had. But you can't go a whole game like that - especially when Vardy's pace looks like it has dropped off a cliff - age/injuries seem to have caught up with him.

Yeah, but it’s not, and you’re not. Leicester’s now annual descent out of the top four looks to be underway once again.

Yup, it does look likely. But once again, like last season, we've been absolutely rinsed with injuries.

This season, I'd say only Liverpool have had a worse injury crisis than us, and last season I think our injury list was bigger then anyones that I can recall (I'm sure we had our entire back four out at one point).

Will be gutted if/when we drop out the top 4 again. But as frustrating as it is, it's just a run of extremely bad luck. While Rodgers has his faults, getting a fully fit Leicester side into the top 4 is difficult enough, let alone a completely gutted one.

We’ve done that more this season because of the injuries. It’s not just about names out, but players who are on the pitch carrying issues or only just back player after injury and not up to speed.

The squad is decimated at the moment.

Except we didn’t really do that.

Watched the match today. Yet another injury to a key player. Barnes is vital. As is Maddison who is out too.
vardy didn’t seem to have that spark today, he looks a bit more wooden legged than normal.
I think this is the issue, when the key players are out or not in form, the drop off in quality of reserves is great.
Final point, they’ve batted above their average for a while. But it’s still Leicester, a small club trying to compete with bigger clubs. Battling for top 4-5 is a good achievement

We’ve had injuries all season and had to use reserves. Our squad is decent, the problem is the sheer number of injuries taking their toll.

Most of our first reserves are out injured,so those coming in are 3rd, 4th, 5th choice.
