"We just need to leave, just get on wif it. We got the 5th largest economy in the world so countries will be queuing up to make deals wif us. We just need to hurry up and leave." Said financial and political expert Dave, a bricklayer from Lambeth.

Dave better shut his gob... we have had enough of experts... which is I presume why we now have Pob planning for a no deal

Ah Gove, the man single handedly trying to make the lower classes dumber.

It really does seem less we want a No Deal and more can we just make Brexit end.

Parliament will block no deal. Johnson is prepping for an election, not for no deal. We’ll get another extension.

Not sure whether the EU are so ready to give us more time. Macron was against it last time and numerous others now believe he was correct given how the U.K. totally wasted the time they were given.

Well firstly Johnson would have to ask for an extension, and that seems unlikely. And even if he did, for an election, Johnson looks like winning that election on a no deal manifesto, so why should the EU agree the extension in the first place?

Wasn’t there a leak that said that the new person in charge of negotiations for the EU was open to a further extension?

Which isn't going to happen given a no deal would still likely be followed by years of negotiations with the EU, with all the same problems that currently exist, except with the UK in a weaker position and a severely damaged relationship between both sides. One wonders how much of the 45% realise this.

People just want Brexit to be over, regardless of how that's achieved. A big part of that appears to be because they're bored of the current news cycle and want something different to read about. That kind of thinking is really dangerous and only compounds the stupidity of it all.

So is the plan to crash out of Europe, lose an election to Labour who then fail miserably to pick up the pieces thus allowing the Tories another long period of government in which to really feck with poor people, destroy the NHS and enrich themselves?

Because that's how the repubs tend to operate here in the US.
There are certainly growing similarities

Yep this was pretty much going to be my reply to sully post

24 hours news channels and social media gives us a constantly moving conveyor belt of news. Combine that with MPs debating for weeks about Brexit, then be unable to find a resolution and then vote down ALL options, you get a Parliament in 'paralysis' over Brexit, with a media constantly having to report on little to no progress, resulting in Brexit fatigue or Brexit burnout.
It has been 3 years since the referendum and what progress has been made..

Only real change I can think of, is that we've gone from 'of course we can remain part of the single market, german industry will demand it', to 'feck business' and 'leave on 31st do or die'.

All our current 'PM'.

Exactly. Probably very few.

Britain's on a downward spiralling trajectory and they may very well bring the global economy along for the ride.

Raab out in full force this morning it seems. The man is yet to learn a single thing during this whole ordeal. A complete conman and fraud.

I haven't followed this closely but wouldn't 'no deal' essentially mean that any transactions with other EU countries would become very difficult for UK based companies? What duties and taxes would they apply, and what regulations would even be used - would they have to be separately negotiated with each EU member?

Yes I’ve just read that they are looking “very carefully” at imposing direct rule again in NI. They should tread very very carefully unless they want to really return to the 80s

They have to deal with the whole of the EU as one - life is so much easier when everyone has the same regulations. With no agreement it's WTO rules. If the UK leave with no deal they will have no agreements with anyone , not just the EU.

Just saw the pound, €1.098/£1 and $1.223/£1.

Johnson's started well.

I’m going to New York for 8 days in 5 weeks. Got accommodation booked and ready to pay for but keep putting it off saying “it’s hit the bottom so no harm waiting”...

I think it's going to drop at least as far as 1.15 USD to the pound before this is done.

Wouldn't be surprised to see the EUR overtake the pound either.

I'm glad I don't have any money in the UK right now.

At least he is making millions for his monied friends. The FTSE100 has shot up in the first few days since he became our latest PM.
Of course it is a direct result of the pound dropping in value but if you are an investor, happy days.

Exactly the characteristics you need to be a politician these days. He will go far.

Do you know any good FTSE blue chip funds to invest in?

Can you honestly see Labour winning a GE with the fool Corbyn as their leader.
Because I certainly cannot.

By far the simplest and cheapest by the way is to put a sum of money in a Tracker. One that directly tracks the FTSE100. The Fund charges will be minimal.
However, as with most investments the key is to buy low/sell high.
Having said that, if the pound continues to fall the FTSE will continue to rise.
EDIT. Should have mentioned that you can invest in such a tracker online or through your bank.
