No, its not directly proportional, but its not nearly as even as say.. every state being able to veto any treaty change they want, like the EU.

You're English, British, European and an Earthling because that was where you were born geographically.
You may have loved where you grew up, I did, fantastic place when I was young. People who were brought up in the worst tenements in some crumby city estate may like that as well.
But that is removed from being proud of being English - fair, tolerant, friendly, helpful, innovative, cultural, what happened to this, or was it always just a myth.
So England is a beautiful place but Scotland, Wales and NI aren't? Or why the distinction between Britain and England?
I know that Davis would be kind in accepting a transitional deal but really, he mustn't feel obliged to accept it. Actually we are better off if its not offered at all.

I dont see myself as British, the same way my mrs sees herself as dutch and not European. I dont know enough about the other constitutional countries in the uk to have an opinion on them or an affinity.

No they won't, candidates are subjected to the EU council vote and in that council every country has one voice.

Your statement is incorrect from two perspectives:
First of all, as @JPTrouve pointed out, almost all candidates must pass the council where each country, whether Luxembourg (population in 2013: 0.543m) or Germany (population in 2013: 80.62m), has one single vote.
Secondly, there are many positions where the European Parliament must also give their blessing, e.g. the Head of the Commission. It was only because of the Parliament's perseverence JC Juncker got his current President of Commission job; neither Cameron nor Merkel wanted him.
In the EP, there are 751 seats, among them 96 for German MEPs and 74 for French MEPs. Even if all German and all French MEPs were pulling the same rope, there is no way their 22.6% share of votes can push anybody or anything through.

They treated the question "should the UK remain part of the EU?" as "would you like to tell London to f*ck off?". Cameron should have known that might happen if he spent more time out of West London and Oxfordshire.
Thats actually a great idea. London and Scotland leave the uk, with the former becoming the capital city of europe. Hard borders are raised with wales and the remaining uk and everyone will be happy. Liverpool could become the financial capital of brexit uk.
