Brexited | the worst threads live the longest

Do you think there will be a Deal or No Deal?

Yes. Although it was probably best left unsaid even if it is spot on.

Not that Brexiteer types have a problem throwing insults around.

Tusk wasn't really insulting anyone. He was complaining about Brexiteers who pushed the UK out without having any plan how to do it whatsoever. Guy on the other hand was an insult

I agree that this sort of behaviour should be avoided. There again i am nit the one who saw 2 years of hardwork being thrown in the bin after previously being agreed upon

At least he did not use the word idiot(s)

More class than any remainer, the only chap on the eu i like.

Any person who is religious would tell you that he would prefer being called an idiot.rather then going to hell

The news still selectively quoting Tusk. 99% of people won't know what he actually said. This slanted reporting is why i think we'd be screwed even in a second referendum.

I think we should also change our national anthem to god save the queen, join the sterling, rename ourselves to "Great Britain's Little Britain" and have full rule from Westminster.

let's really give the Irish people what we want.

It's not necessarily just slanted reporting, Smores, because even the Beeb have done it. It's also partially because sites like Buzzfeed have changed the way news in mainstream media is presented; with click-bait headlines that are meant to draw people in. However people don't always click the article (myself included) and merely read the salacious baiting headlines and then presume they know the full story and/or quotes.

Just yesterday a man I work with who voted Brexit saw the headline and asked if I had seen it and then he asked me if these are the people I really want to be working with, I explained that the full quote is talking about the people who promoted the idea of Brexit without having any idea how to implement it safely. This is from a clever and informed individual as well, not one of the louts who accept anything negative about the EU because it suits their world view.

We should unite our rugby teams and dominate the 3 nations..................

And that's why I believe that the tweet was stupid. As tragic as it may sound, we are in an era where people need to be very careful about the way their words can be deformed.

Oh feck the leave supporters and their delicate feelings. Apparently its fine to refer to the EU as Nazis, as the project as an undemocratic powergrab designed to keep people in chains like slaves, to call Remain supporters Enemies Of The People and Traitors and to call us Citizens of Nowhere, but apparently the poor little snowflakes get their panties in a bunch when someone calls them out on their grotesque stupidity. feck them.

It has nothing to do with delicate feelings but narratives and how they can be used politically. While people like you and I can say these type of things, politicians shouldn't because it's going to professionally disserve them.

It won't change a thing though, people already made their minds up around the issue. Nothing wrong with calling the people out.

I think both comments were fair and it weren't anti brexit but more anti tory party

You'd think people would have learned that being civilised with these feckers doesn't work but here we are. If remainers really want this revered you have set London on fire not tell mogg what a nice hard dick he has.

Tusk knew this would be the reaction in Britain. He clearly wanted this backlash from the press, I'm just not sure why. Presumably it's part of some sort of strategy?

Before the referendum, the DUP received its biggest ever donation to finance the final push in their Leave campaign.

Surprise surprise the money has come from another dodgy character who is also interested in gold

https://www.opendemocracy.net/uk/br...irty-secrets-of-dup-s-dark-money-brexit-donor

Disgusting that the union is now going through this mess because ultimately there was shady characters pushing it, with their own interests at heart. That’s what really irritates me more than the actual decision itself.

A British person just called me a racist, because I informed him I can not consider him for a certain vacancy, because the project he'd work on is EU eyes only and because of the impending Brexit our client doesn't want to hire British people to stay on the safe side.

Three fecking cheers for brexit.

Correct. Tossers on the internet say stupid things, but however much one might dislike Theresa May she hasn't called anyone a Nazi or a traitor.

It's not because something is fair that you should say it and it's not about brexiters feelings. In my opinion, it's a lot more effective to not create drama and do whatever you want away from the limelight.

House prices are beginning to fall, 2.9% in January, just how much will the economy be affected by this chaos?

It's incredibly unsettling

This thread is easily the best thing I've read that articulates the difficulty or indeed complete fallacy that is the idea that technological solutions can solve the border issue.

Of course they can't.

We know what the solutions are and none are acceptable to the UK so they throw in the red herring of technological solutions.

Why even bother talking with brexiteers about the Irish border? It's utterly pointless. They are ruining their country "to take back control of our borders" and the very first thing they propose on doing is to abandon all control of the sole notable land border their country posses. The lunacy. I bet they will be very fast to ask for a border once Ryan air offers flights from Calais to Dublin :wenger:

I mean, how is anyone supposed to take these people serious? Go to your MP's office, demand an end to this farce!

Can the uk rejoin the eu after exiting in some distant future?
Probably would need to be in about 20 years when everyone has calmed down and things have either worked or not, and if the EU still exists

Can the uk rejoin the eu after exiting in some distant future?

They could but in theory it's an normal application to the council which means that the standard position is without all the "community acquis". That can be negotiated in an agreement though.

Can the uk rejoin the eu after exiting in some distant future?
I think in theory they could apply on March 30 this year but the process would take a long time, would need to be approved by member states and we would have to join the Schengen Area and the Euro.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not an expert.

If fantasy technological solutions don't work they can always try Corbyn's unicorns

Its a sign of Tusk's personal panicking, he can see his own career legacy in tatters as he goes down in history as one of the EU leaders who let the UK escape... a lot in common with David Cameron perhaps?

It's simple frustration due to the fact that after almost two years, UK leaders aren't close to have an idea about what brexit means to them. And the UK leaving has nothing to do with EU leaders, that's a UK decision based on UK internal politics considerations.

Its evident that the EU's usual sober tone hasn't really worked out with an audience who would rather listen to the likes of Farage, Davis and Boris then experts. Maybe that's the reason for a change of tone?
