Do you think there will be a Deal or No Deal?

  • Total voters
    194
  • Poll closed .
At least you are civilized in marches. I can't say the same about everyone.

@Silva They are totally wrong to use intimidation and violence, and so are you to call for it on your side.

Let's be clear, I approve of the march as a peaceful protest, but your posts here are straight out of the fascist handbook:

If the protestors want to achieve anything they need to tear London apart and not stop until parliament caves.

There's significantly more protestors in London today than there were at the poll tax riots, it would be very easy for them to wholly dominate London and prevent all political action in Parliament until they get their way.

While you stand by these posts I am quite in order to call you a fascist.

yes there's no difference between murdering people and breaking windows in westminster, jesus christ dude

Quite upset no one yet has the Father Ted inspired "down with this sort of thing" sign

I guess it's not so out of the ordinary that he can do this since he's the only person in the shadow cabinet that can't be sacked outside of Corbyn, but still.

Farage saying that people were openly boasting of having signed the petition a hundred times.
People are tweeting police estimate is 1.4 mill marchers. Not confirmed yet.
Some people will be there 100 times though.

People’s Vote march doesn’t represent the majority, Farage tells 200 people

The best report I could find from Nigel Farage's "March to Leave" address in front of 197 people in Nottinghamshire this morning where he dismissed the London march as irrelevant and not representative of what Britain wants :lol::lol:

It's a fair point though?! Having a 7 digit number of protesters on the streets is impressive, but it could easily be a vocal minority.
Since the country is already en route to some form of Brexit at the moment it's also perfectly normal that the other side doesn't have a lot of people protesting.

They're too busy ringing a 77 year old woman, currently on holiday in Cyprus, to give her death threats.

Over 16 million people voted remain. 48%. Hardly only a vocal minority!

That was 2 years ago. Since then I suspect even more people have become aware of the risks of Brexit.

The people have marched; now MPs must take up the challenge
Observer said:
May has consistently sowed division where she should have tried to generate national consensus. She has pursued a Brexit strategy designed first and foremost to keep the Conservative party unified and her premiership secure, the national interest barely an afterthought. And she has ridden roughshod over parliament at every turn: resisting giving it a say over triggering article 50; granting a meaningful vote on her deal only when compelled to do so; attempting to force MPs into voting for her deal by delaying vote after vote to take us closer to the cliff edge.

May’s televised address last week was the culmination of that strategy. “I am on your side,” she intoned to voters. “Parliament has done everything possible to avoid making a choice.” She embraced populist language that could have been uttered by any tinpot dictator looking to trample the democratic institutions frustrating their personal agenda. In our parliamentary democracy, May’s mandate to lead the country comes purely from any support she commands from the House of Commons. Her words were not only self-defeating but bordering on the dangerously unconstitutional.

Almost like we should have an official national check on public opinion to see if it's still what we want.

I reckon the most important swing in a second referendum will come from the young (and otherwise) people who didn't bother voting the first time. I'd expect a bigger turnout as % of the electorate.

The first referendum had the momentum of a protest vote against the establishment, so leavers were more motivated about turning out than remainers. Now, with the country heading off a cliff and the political establishment in tatters, the protest vote will be for remain. And that will motivate people to the polls more. At least that's my take on things.

On another note, great turnout today and congrats to all those that went :)

Agreed on turnout increase and also younger voters will now be old enough to vote. The complicated reality of Brexit will also change the outlook.

Annoyingly a protest was (or is)s greatly needed. Increased poverty, homelessness, unemployment (hidden by zero hour contracts), inadequate investment in healthcare and Privatised education with academies instead of state schools!

All of peoples dissatisfaction and energy has been wasted on Brexit these last 2 years. In that respect Brexit has worked as a distraction. It has taken the focus of the real, permanent issues prior to the first referendum.

It's not a binary option, so that poll is a pile of wank
The poll's fine, Aaron Bastani's presentation of it is typically woeful and self-serving.

Be fair though, the guy has a PhD in protesting and is having to sit out today so must be having a tough time.

He's weird even for Twitter.
He means well and some of the novara media content is great(Podcast about the Russian Revolution with china miéville) but I did get a laugh when he thought England going well in the world cup meant socialism is alive in Britain and also him arguing with Limmy on twitter.
