Trump and Boris are in completely different positions. Comparisons are quite silly. Is it because they are both blonde and chubby?

Even Corbyn has been a more successful 'Trump' within his party handling opposition to him than Boris.
 
What if Johnson ignores this rushed through law and then we have an election, he wins a majority and just repeals it....

Did the law even exist to begin with?

I hope he doesn't ignore it, because of the precedent it would set. But then I look forward to the future laws we rush through Parliament. This new faster politics is far more entertaining.

It's the lies though, and the pomp. Mostly the lies though. Any future politician who lies through his teeth day in day out will be compared to Trump. At least for a very very long time.

Oh and the complete incompetence.

He won’t get an election without following the law on this. Tory MPs are already coming out saying they won’t support him breaking the law. If he tries to ignore this, it will create a constitutional crisis we’ve never seen in the modern age, and he will certainly be removed from office and from leadership of the Conservatives.
 
It would be politically impossible to prosecute him. Don't know any government that would be willing to do so.

Yup... His only real option is to resign as pm as I say probably after the EU summit... He can still remain conservative leader and fight the next election (which would probably be immenent)

The risk with that is that somebody else could hold a coalition of MP's together and take over

Corbyn might patch it together for a few days to pass the bill

Clarke might be a more acceptable compromise to other parties

I still wouldn't rule out gove stabbing him in the back and trying to see If he can weasle his way into no 10 (probably fail but I'd but nothing past him)

Would they have to... Probably a Gina miller or similar would take it to the courts then it's in the hands of the judiciary.... Possibly ending up with an appeal to the European courts of justice?

That sucks, because we all know that's what he'll do. Won't ask for an extension, UK is out of the EU with no deal. He resigns but it won't matter because his money is safe, and whatever money he stands to make from us being out of the EU will make a nice retirement fund for him.

The whole country is run by crooks and thanks to a bunch of fecking idiots voting for them we're all going to suffer while they ride off into the sunset.

If Corbyn is smart, he'll get Clarke or somebody to do it anyway instead of him. That way he can go to an election 'clean' without accusations of a power grab etc.

I think they'll do it themselves. Technically a private prosecution could be brought for treason I believe and they'd want to head that off before it even began. Best way to do that is by showing they are taking action.

Yes and genuinely I don't think the liberals change Mps and a number of the conservatives who got kicked out would back Corbyn so on a practical basis it's most logical

It was deemed “too politically sensitive” to investigate and charge the crimes of the various charlatans in the leave campaigns. Conservative Prime Minister Boris Johnson will not face any repercussions for his actions, that is certain.

No Trump and Boris' lies and incompetence are on an entirely different level to the vast majority of politicians the west has seen in the past 70 years. By their standards Reagan was a decent fella and Berlusconi a economical scientist.

If he does this he will. Campaign offenses tend to be quite fluffy and hard for the public to understand let alone care about that much. A prime minister openly defying the law though is prime time stuff and the news and opposition parties would rip him apart daily, including a number of his own party. He wouldn’t just walk away scot free if he was stupid enough to do this.

I didn't say they were alike, simply that their respective political opponents don't seem able to understand them and how best to react to them.

For me both Trump and Boris are alike in one respect that they display a certain degree of narcissism, but both react in different ways, attacks on them as individuals are pointless they feel no such pain, quite often turning it to their advantage "you keep throwing the ball and I'll keep hitting it", sort of thing. Both men although in leadership position are constantly in campaign mode, constantly appealing to their base support, but their opponents keep trying to hit them with what amounts to sling-shots which even if they land have no effect on their devotees. Opponents wait for a reaction when they perceived they've scored a hit, but it comes only from those who totally oppose Trump or Boris, sort of preaching to the converted sort of thing. You see this quite often on this thread, which becomes an anti Boris echo chamber half the time.

Even though the opposition in the Hoc now seems to getting its Act together, you get the distinct impression Boris (and Cummings) are smiling, albeit behind the tears, we shall have to wait and see!

They would apparently like to see democracy enacted. And will kick your fecking head in if it isn’t

I've read about those. They sound like a bunch a nice bunch of fellas. They (one of their leaders) want to run a pub in Tottenham and there's a council petition to prevent them, because the think it'll become a place for racist skinhead types to gather.

Dunno mate, from someone in his position it can be seen as somehow it's all ok to make racist comments at Muslims, something that might seem harmless can still have consequences against minorities.
