Do you think there will be a Deal or No Deal?

All Johnson/Cummings are looking for is a scapegoat for their own failure.

So given his "dead in a ditch" comments where does Boris go from here?

Would he resign just before the 19th October in order to leave the Country without a PM and therfore no one to send the Extension request to Brussels, and no time between then and the 31st to put a new PM in place and therefore get to no deal that way?

Is that even plausiable?

So what we suspected all along is correct, the talks were a sham and it was all just to try to blame the EU for the consequences of a no deal exit they're trying to engineer.

No option for the opposition parties now, it has to be a GNU and a 2nd ref otherwise it'll be a Johnson led government from an election on 35% of the vote claiming a mandate for a no deal exit and a decade of economic misery.

There won't be a 2nd Ref under a GNU.

There won't be a 2nd Ref under a GNU.

There can't be. It would take too long and we can't have a GNU for what would be a minimum of 6 months by sounds of it.

We're heading for a GE as expected but now the Tories have confirmed they'll be going to no deal and dropping any pretence. A boris majority running on deal seems incredibly unlikely.

I expect them to get most MPs though. Remains to be seen if they work the TBP too, if they drop the pretence of a deal.

I understand why Johnson and Cummings would go bananas over it but there is no actual reason why it can't be done, it may be difficult to run a GNU in the meantime if things like a budget are needed to be passed or whatever but they need to look past party politics and do what's best for the nation.

There plenty of reasons why it can't be done, you're just choosing to look past them.

The government are fully aware that forcing through a no-deal will also involve imposing direct rule on the North of Ireland. They are just being staggeringly reckless with the peace process here. No-deal and direct rule would be like a perfect storm for anti-GFA dissidents.

Already said it in the Westminster thread but worth repeating: Briefing the press with made up statements by other heads of states is extraordinary. I can't remember it ever being done before by anyone, let alone a western nation. Boris and his henchmen have truly lost the plot.

Jesus Christ. Pathetic twats.

This kind of scorched earth policy is what creates wars down the line. Cummings is a genuine psychopath.

We didn't take part in wars just to end up being led by the same old selfish scumbags.

Using the term Kraut, which is an Americanism, is unlikely to win me over.
One thing I've learned today!
It will take few years for the UK to recover its reputation. Really, if you asked me 5 years ago which European country will embarass itself this much in the upcoming decade, I'd say pretty much everyone but UK. But here we are.

Absolutely disgusting. Brings to mind that huffpost article that resonated with me a few years back...

We should be asking ourselves what our Archduke Ferdinand moment will be. How will an apparently small event trigger another period of massive destruction. We see Brexit, Trump, Putin in isolation. The world does not work that way  —  all things are connected and affecting each other. I have pro-Brexit friends who say, “Oh, you’re going to blame that on Brexit too??” But they don’t realize that actually, yes, historians will trace neat lines from apparently unrelated events back to major political and social shifts like Brexit.

If you haven't read it then do.

We must be the laughing stock of Europe anyway, don't know about the rest of the world. Brexit, no belief in public services, America's poodle. You're right, the word is embarrassing.

UK is fecked - reputation in tatters. English nationalism has a lot to answer for.

I really think the idea of a Boris majority is born from people's fears rather than reality. He's pushed away a lot of moderate Tory voters like my in-laws so whilst he might have electrified his base i don't see the votes for a majority.

He's trying to win the Farage base thinking the rest of the Tories will fall in line. The problem as I see it is everyone will fall in line and we'll end up exactly where we are now so any election won't solve anything. Elections are won on the centre ground and with both main parties straying as far as they possibly can left and right the middle will by default just be fooled into voting for Swinson giving her king maker status and we all know who she'd make king. A decade later history would repeat itself.

The buildup to World War I is not a bad comparison.

Trump is every bit the disaster that Kaiser Wilhelm II was. Putin, Johnson, Erdoğan, Orban is quite the cast of unpredictable characters, to add to the upheaval happening in Italy.

My best bet for things kicking off would be a Turkey Greece conflict shattering NATO and parts of the EU and putin moving in to seize the opportunities in its wake.

Probably worth a different thread.

Leave.EU dropping the mask and showing everyone their hateful, xenophobic, WWII-romancing faces. The irony of being like the Nazis they claim to be standing up to is probably lost on them.
