Bundesliga 2015/2016

Just saw it, truely disgusting:

Even worse, he seemed upset that he got send off. Complaining, shaking his head in disbelief and the classy Schalke fans sang "Auf Wiedersehen" to Hahn.

Aside of the terrible nature of this foul, Geis has done a terrible service for his club in general. He will miss at least two league games (likely more) and this includes the Ruhr Derby. Given Schalke´s reliance on Geis to balance their play and provide threat via set pieces, this is a massive blow to them. Looks like Schalke has finally run out of luck. Let´s hope it is not at an expense of Hahn´s health and his injury is less severe than it looked.

"I believe that Andre won't be playing football for a long time" - Eberl. :/

The worst part about it is he still has the nerve to protest his red card. His team mates as well. Players who commit such horrific challenges don't belong on a football pitch. Whatever punishment they'll give him will be a lot less than he deserves.

Jesus, that's a horrible injury. Good luck to Hahn.

As for Geis, well I can't bring myself to watch the incident so I can only imagine how poor and deliberate it was given the posts following it. I hope someone sorts him out good and proper.

Gisdol is gone, Stevens taking over at Hoffenheim. Too bad, I actually quite like him.

He's not a dirty player though. Last 2 seasons for Mainz he played 67 games and got 8 yellow cards and 0 red cards. His only other red card was back in 2010 when he was like 17. I didn't watch the game so have no idea what the situation was, can only comment on the player and his playing history. It was a terrible challenge though.

Yeah, I agree. It seemed totally out of character, but it was truely nasty.

Yeah, was on his best way to get Hoffenheim where they belong :(
Stevens is not the coach he used to be but still sadly an expert to save clubs from relegation.

In other news, Sokratis signed a new contract with us until 2019 today. Given that this extends his contract by only one year, it is more a wage raise than anything. Still nice to see our most consistent defender stick around longer after being one of the players on the way out this Summer.

So it was an isolated incident, an accident then?

Looks that way yeah. But I didn't watch the game so struggling for match context. You'd think if it was a bad blooded game then there would have been handbags after the foul so yeah an accident and seeing as he's not been sent off before would probably explain his reaction. The challenge itself does deserve further punishment though as I think all challenges that are that dangerous require additional punishment.

Geis is banned for 5 games in all competitions and fined €15k, missing the cup game against Gladbach and all their big league fixtures against Dortmund, Bayern, and Leverkusen. Big blow for Schalke.

It's getting pretty annoying that Alonso still has the starting spot for the big games locked.
Wasn't there talk of him taking more of a supporting role?
Alonso and Martinez starting means some dangerous lack af pace.

Three years ago, Martinez and Schweinsteiger both started in midfield against Barcelona in one of the most dominant midfield displays shown in the CL.

Hoffenheim appoint 28-year-old manager Julian Nagelsmann

Hoffenheim have chosen their Under-19s coach Julian Nagelsmann as manager for next season - when he could become the youngest ever Bundesliga head coach.

Markus Gisdol was sacked on Monday, with former Stuttgart boss Huub Stevens appointed until the end of the season.

Nagelsmann, 28, will remain U19s coach, taking up his new post in the summer.

"This is a courageous step but we see in Nagelsmann such a huge coaching talent that we want to give him a chance," director Alexander Rosen said.

He has been given a three-year deal but is still studying for his senior coaching licence.

Hoffenheim are currently in 17th place in the Bundesliga, with one win and six points from their first 10 games of the season.

Provided the club stays in the division, Nagelsmann will become the youngest head coach ever to helm a side in the German top flight.

That's very different to Martinez at centerback and Alonso as a lone DM though.

And? Martinez didn'z play CB and our defensive line wasn't at 54 meters.

1860 up by one now! A munich derby in the next round would be great!

This Bayern team is just amazing, they got so many options to make goals, Boateng is a fantastic ball playing CB.

It will take alot of years before we get this kind of quality. I'm also very keen on Pep coming here, his football is definitely not boring anymore.

Is it getting boring for Bayern fans?

Just how much better they are than everyone else in Germany? It's like doing a career mode on Fifa and playing on the semi pro level or something.

Is it getting boring for Bayern fans?
No. When we're playing like today with real intensity, it's just a joy to watch. There's nothing boring about it. It won't last forever and I'll enjoy every game we play on that level at the moment.

They're ridiculously dominant considering it's away to a strong side. Such a complete team. Pep for United after Van Gaal please.
