Carling Cup Final: Manchester United v Wigan Athletic

official team

VdS

Neville
Ferdinand
Brown
Silvestre

Ronaldo
O'shea
Giggs
Park

Rooney
Saha

Dont understand why Evra isnt playing, probably Fergie thinks he needs more time. Or isnt he eligible?
I would have rested Rooney for that one, and not Ruud. But Saha deserves to play that game

19 goals???

In this competition Saha deserves to start. So someone had to be sacrificed and Rooney offers more than Ruud.

O'Shea in the starting XI is something i really...eehm... dont like
Something I don't liek more is that Giggsy is in the middle with him.

Man Utd: Van der Sar, Neville, Brown, Ferdinand, Silvestre, Ronaldo, O'Shea, Giggs, Park, Saha, Rooney. Subs: Howard, Evra, van Nistelrooy, Vidic, Richardson.

Wigan: Pollitt, Chimbonda, De Zeeuw, Henchoz, Baines, Bullard, Kavanagh, Scharner, Teale, Camara, Roberts. Subs: Filan, Jackson, Johansson, McCulloch, Ziegler.

but if saha was on the bench, it would not be right. top scorer in the competition this season.

i'm sure ruud will come on at some point, probably for rooney

Fergie say's the reason he'd dropped Ruud for Louis is because of the latter's five goals in the competition. It was a simple choice for him.

rooney has looked knackered in the last matches, ruud has been much better.
its a final and we are playing against a team that has taken several scalps this season, this isnt the time to fiddle with our best lineup
Wrong, it is time to play some of the players who got us there, no matter what, it's the Carling Cup after all. Rossi should play instead of Rooney imo, he'd deserve it!

we've got to win this game at all costs

no messing with the team

Sky ain't trying too hard to hide their Wigan bias.

eh?

Sky used to own 10% of United. They even tried to buy them. They televise virtually every United game.

There might be different people and opinios between the board and the commentators :smirk:

They want Wigan to win, that much is obvious, the vast majority of the rest of the Footballing country does.

Thats just the nature of underdogs, nothing to get too upset about. A Wigan win sells better for Sky, they can hype it up far more, and Murdoch can sell far more papers than if United win.

On to the game, we need a strong start, otherwise we're in serious trouble, dont encourage them in any way shape or form. I'm worried about our players thinking this will be a walk over because of the size difference and result earlier in the season.

Wigan have been televised more than any team in the league this year....which is staggering.

That's because more people watch when we play, hence more revenue doesn't mean they like us

Of course it does. Sky is only interested in profit and it is profitable to love United.

Got to feel for rossi

Not even on the bench and he helped as much as saha

That's the price for playing for a top team.

If Ruud can't make the final eleven then what chance Joe?

That is staggering. Is it because of their league cup run?

They love whoevers successful really.

More people hate United than support them, I think they walk the line in a fairly un-bias way to be honest, but the reason they televise United a lot is because those who hate United will tune in hoping to see them lose. It's not wise for any television station to love United.

The BBC are the biggest joke of them all though, pathetic pandering to the ABUs.

All very interesting but anyway, come on United! Get it down and play.

Red Army!

if i wasnt a united i would probably want wigan to win.

thats the way it goes.

"Now they stand side by side with arguably the biggest club in the world"...

Oh yes, you can really feel the ABUness.
