Carlo Ancelotti to Bayern for 16/17 | Confirmed

I'm not saying anything definitively. I'm just saying it is possible Ogden has contacts in Ancelotti's camp. It's not exactly easy to get a one on one interview with someone famous.

Ogden is stirring the pot. Dont fall for it.

If we don't get Guardiola, we're incompetent and the board should get the sack, along with Van Gaal.
We're so frightened he's going to go to City. You have to try to imagine what that's like for United fans. Imagine there were some upstart club in Munich riding along on your coattails, owned by the richest men on the planet, and competing with you, the giant in Germany, for the world's best manager. Just envisage how much of an abomination that really is.

Dunno if this has been posted yet:

Bayern chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said last week he wanted an answer from Guardiola by Christmas about his new deal. And the former Barcelona manager revealed after Bayern's 1-0 win over SV Darmstadt on Tuesday night 'there will be clarity' next week.

He said: "Tonight, I have no answer. Next week, you will know the answer. Next week there will be clarity."

(Manchester Evening News)

Surely City can't sack Pellegrinni if he wins the premier league.

They would. Just like Bayern let Heynckes go/forced to retire.
He'd probably have to win the UCL too to save his job

Also Ancelotti said a month or so ago that managing Bayern would be boring.

He also said he'd love to manage us last week.

Nah it's all about how well he does in the CL. It will be embarrassing if he goes further then Pep manages to with Bayern.

Really want Carlo, sure he could be persuaded to join us instead if we try hard enough.

Maybe Carlo wants this news out there to see of we really are interested in him.

1. Why is Ogden writing for the Independent? Is this where he takes his venting pieces after having spent too many hours on RedCafé again?

2. Why would Ogden know anything about the thoughts and actions of the Bayern board?

1. Journalist transfer market. Henry Winter went from Telegraph to the Times as new chief football writer. Sam Wallace of Independent went to Telegraph to replace Winter. Ogden to Independent to replace Wallace. James Ducker of Times to replace Ogden at Telegraph.

Okay, if anyone had any info about who bayern's new coach would be then i think it should have been the following-
  • Kicker
  • Bild/sports bild
  • Gazetta del sporte
Why i say this? Well there is no way an english journalist will have more info about a german team hiring an italian coach than the press in Germany or italy. I think ogden has put 2 and 2 together. When did independent became so reliable? I refuse to believe it.He says its a 2 year deal, i dont think any manager takes a deal under 3 years. I want him to manage united, feck all this shit.

Huge assumption that Pep would go to City just because he knows the two fella's from Barcelona.

Not saying it won't happen but I'd say it's far from certain. He seems to do what he wants. If he was available I'd be very surprised if we weren't making a concerted effort to get him.

In two years, Tuchel's contract expires as long as he doesn't extend it (which I personally don't believe).

In 2 years tuchel's fortunes might have changed, klopp could have left pool. 1000 things could happen. I dont buy this shit from Ogden.

Fair enough, but please remember my post once it inevitably happens.

Fail to get Pep or Carlo and you can kiss goodbye to any success for the foreseeable

This, though I'd add Jose it the list to.

Sounds defeatist but I honestly think if we mess this decision up, we will go full Liverpool.

If the press reported tomorrow that we were moving the club to Iraq, many would believe it as the gospel truth. Basically, if its written, it has to be true.

If any reporters are reading this, feel free to test the theory.

It wasn't meant to be taken literally.
It's bound with moral fibre...
... but asking a grown man to believe it?
It's a nice story.
I'm saying, just because it's written...
... doesn't make it so.
Gives them hope. It's not important whether it's fact or fiction.
- People like to believe. - I don't want to hear anymore.

If Giggs ends up as our manager I might take a break from football, the incompetence level post Fergie is staggering.

Txiki and pep were national teammates and worked together in Barcelona team during their playing days and post playing career too. Their relationship would probably be similar to Gary Neville and beckham in England probably

I feel the same way. It's a combination of my dislike for the modern game and the fact my club is completely incompetent post Ferguson, as you say.

It's going to be Giggs isn't it.

Yes, that was the entire point of LVG imo. Build a team so that Giggs can take over easily. Shame LVG appears to be making a colossal cock up of the whole idea.

Why would that be embarrassing? It's only embarrassing when it fits an agenda. Would it have been embarassing for Basel to sack Heiko Vogel in 2011/12 and hire Ferguson after they finished above you in the group stages to knock you out of the CL? Pep is clearly a better manager than Pellegrini, and there would be no embarrassment involved at City if that swap was to take place, that much is certain.

it's as big as assumption as assuming Pep would come here just cos him and Fergie have mated up a fair few times.

It will be quite a bit different if Pellegrini manages to beat Bayern lets say in Qf or the Semis though. And win the league.

guaranteed.

with some mash up of the 92 gang involved obviously

It's bizarre to imagine that people in charge of a billion dollar business could be so stupid and naive, treating this like it's a fecking Hollywood movie.

How is it different? Basel were the champions of both their league and domestic cup that season, as well as taking them further than United in the CL having directly competed in the same group - the scenario is literally no different to the one being proposed for City.

Anyway, let's move on - I don't believe any genuine football fan could sit there and argue replacing Pellegrini with Pep would be embarrassing, and those who think that will obviously be in the minority, and wrong.

It would double painful to lose with Giggs. For ourselves, and for him as a legend here.

I can see it happening if we do end up with no other alternatives though. I just wish Sir Bobby would speak out against this. He knows first hand how badly making a former player manager can turn out.

Utterly disastrous by the club. It's nailed on Pep to City, Carlo to Bayern. United with a second rate coach.

The post Ferguson era has been shambolic.

Seriously, has anyone considered that maybe Ancellotti 'leaked' this? Maybe he's trying to force United's hand after saying in that latest interview that he wouldn't mind managing us? Well it's possible isn't it?

I wasn't saying it would be embarrassing, more that you would think for a moment of that if indeed it were to happen.

I for one am not too worried about the idea of Giggs taking over, let's just give that a try. I think the club also seem to think in the same way and he will get a chance after LVG.

I was really hoping the Swansea link would pan out, I'm not interested in seeing a car wreck.
