In two years, Tuchel's contract expires as long as he doesn't extend it (which I personally don't believe).

Yes, that was the entire point of LVG imo. Build a team so that Giggs can take over easily. Shame LVG appears to be making a colossal cock up of the whole idea.
Why would that be embarrassing? It's only embarrassing when it fits an agenda. Would it have been embarassing for Basel to sack Heiko Vogel in 2011/12 and hire Ferguson after they finished above you in the group stages to knock you out of the CL? Pep is clearly a better manager than Pellegrini, and there would be no embarrassment involved at City if that swap was to take place, that much is certain.

It will be quite a bit different if Pellegrini manages to beat Bayern lets say in Qf or the Semis though. And win the league.

How is it different? Basel were the champions of both their league and domestic cup that season, as well as taking them further than United in the CL having directly competed in the same group - the scenario is literally no different to the one being proposed for City.
Anyway, let's move on - I don't believe any genuine football fan could sit there and argue replacing Pellegrini with Pep would be embarrassing, and those who think that will obviously be in the minority, and wrong.

Seriously, has anyone considered that maybe Ancellotti 'leaked' this? Maybe he's trying to force United's hand after saying in that latest interview that he wouldn't mind managing us? Well it's possible isn't it?
