Rogers Centre
Friday 16th July 2010
Kick Off: 23:59 BST

Less than two weeks away before our season begins now, the excitement is slowly building. Hopefully we'll see some of our new signings in this game. Any news on Hargreaves and Anderson? I think those two are going to be important for us this season, particularly if no new signings are made.

The squad hasn't even been declared...probably along the lines of:

Van der Sar, Kuszczak, Amos; Rafael, Neville, Brown, Evans, O'Shea, Smalling, Fabio, De Laet; Valencia, Fletcher, Hargreaves, Gibson, Scholes, Giggs, Obertan, Welbeck; Berbatov, Owen, Macheda, Diouf

Maybe a few youth players as backup. Low on right wingers other than Valencia.

From that I'd like to see

PIG

Rafael
Evans
Smalling
Fabio

Valencia
Hargreaves
Scholes
Obertan

Macheda
Diouf

Start against Celtic.

I hope Fabio can make an impression this season, I know he's had a tough time with injuries but the lack of cover for Evra cost us at times last season and towards the end Evra looked knackered, so if we can have somebody who's able to deputise that will help us a lot. If Fabio doesn't push on I would expect O' Shea to fill in every now and then.

Obertan after a very bright start has failed to do much so hopefully he can push on and have a good pre-season. What's the latest on Nani, is he going to be fit for the start of the season?

Smalling is a strange one, every time I've seen him play he's looked a bit crap, but Wenger and Fergie obviously saw something in him so we'll have to wait and see. I think he'll only have a bit part to play this season though, I can't see him coming in and taking the places of Evans, Vidic, Ferdinand (when fit) and even Brown.

I am going to this! First time (of hopefully many) I get to see United live.

Scholes as captain then? Or Captain Hargreaves?

I'd probably opt for Scholes, as Hargreaves has been out far too long. The 30 seconds v Sunderland however were a great 30 seconds. Definitely showed Fergie was right to shell out £17m for him.

Isnt Valencia still injured? last i heard he was in a wheelchair in Ecuador and was ruled out for 3 months after major ankle surgery.

Valencia injured?

So it's Fletcher, Hargreaves, Rafael, Gibson and Welbeck on rightwing duty. :nervous:

From that I'd like to see

PIG

Rafael
Evans
Smalling
Fabio

Valencia
Hargreaves
Scholes
Obertan

Macheda
Diouf

Start against Celtic.

I actually could see quite the opposite because it's Celtic ... Fletcher, Giggs, O'Shea, Gibson and J. Evans will have major involvement...

Kuszczak
Neville
Brown
Evans
O'Shea
Fletcher
Gibson
Giggs (c)
Obertan
Owen
Berbatov

And then perhaps the likes of Hargreaves, the da Silvas, Scholes, Smalling, Valencia, Diouf and Macheda come on, Fletcher becomes captain of United for the first time.

Celtic will probably be without Cha Du-Ri, Ki Sung-Yong and Georgios Samaras.

Could somebody help me with finding tickets for the Phili Union V Man United game? How do I find seats right behind the players box?

It'll be two completely different XIs in each half. There's no point arguing about lineups.

Hernandez is supposedly going to join up with the tour straight away.

---------VDS----------
Rafeal-Evans-Smalling-Fabio
Valencia-Fletcher-Scholes-Obertan
-------Hernandez-Diouf----

Subs:

Hargreaves, Macheda, Welbeck, Berbatov, Ozil, Neville, Brown, O'Shea, De Laet, Gibson

Why do we always play Celtic in friendlies?

I cannot fecking wait for United to start playing again. I had a dream we won this game 4- 0 but I missed it because I was stuck in a loft or something.

I think Hernandez would probably be rested first game in that case, not sure if the likes of Michael Carrick and Patrice Evra who had no World Cup games and two games respectively want a holiday themselves, I do see them both playing games before the Community Sheild anyway.

Any news on Hargreaves, Nani and Rio's fitness?

We'll have stiffer tests this off season than we did the last.

Oezil won't play in this game, he'll get a few weeks off to rest

Nothing official on the fitness of anyone, other than Fergie saying Rooney will be back firing after a rest.

Also, I think this is 00:00 BST on Saturday 17th July UK time.

Valencia will NOT be on the tour, hes still recovering back in Equador from major ankle surgery, its touch and go if he'll be ready for the new season.

Nani's injured, Park will be rested surely, now no Valencia.

So there's no rightwingers? :wenger:

Wouldnt be surprised if we played Rafael ahaed of Neville on a few occasions on this tour...but yeah the lack of natural right siders will be a problem.

Rafael rightwing has to perhaps be considered, in front of Neville or even Brown, certainly O'Shea will be leftback duty in Evra's absence for the most part. Hargreaves and Fletcher perhaps too. I suppose it depends on whether midfielders like Cleverley and Eikrim or defenders like Cathcart and Gill are taken.

If Diouf is going to play Celtic may as well not bother turning up
