Celtic vs. Manchester United - 21/11/2006 (19:45)

United have played good controlled football. Only thing is were not penetrating in the opposition goal area.

Heinze's played OK. I feel more secure with Gabby in defence than Pat.

This has to be one of the shittest games I've ever seen

Celtic are playing like they're away from home, and a goal up, with about five minutes left.

I don't get why we don't just simply step it up a bit and take them to the cleaners, they're useless. Yet, we seem happy to just pop the ball about, with no real purpose at all. Why?

Ronaldo and Giggs are both playing like utter spastics

Cant believe the amount of posession we are having! Yet the final ball hasnt come.

Scholes is dominating the midfield as usual. The entire first half we spent building up to their box and then wasting the final pass. I hope we find that in the second half.

Giggs was awful against sheffield united 2.:nervous:

Is he? Someone earlier said that he was stinking the joint up. I'm at work and am just wondering how he's honestly doing...

cant really complain - typical heinze - the bloke will never give "scholes" type distribution - but he has been totally solid defensively.

a few loose touches which is to be expected of a rusty player.

evra has been a revelation, but has still been caught out at times by suspect defensive play and positioning.

if we're talking about "stinkers" - then ronaldo is probably the owner of that mantle.

scholes and giggs running the show. rooney showing flashes - if he gets the chance to move inside - he'll destroy celtic.

overall, very pleasing performance - will keep the players in rythym for chelsea!

Giggs's played OK, just the finishing is iffy...but you can say that about our whole front line!

Also yeah, Rooney to his best position please. This is stick him on the wing malarky never works.
Cant understand the tactic to rotate the players all the time. It seems like it does not just irritate the Celtic players, but the United players aswell. Rooney should play as a forward, while Giggs and Ronaldo attack over the wings with Carrick and Scholes in the middle. Giggs and Ronaldo seem to play in the middle from time to time and Rooney's stuck on the left, which i dont really like

Cheating fecks just seem that balde(whatever his name is) tackle on scholes should have been sent off and the more I see the tackle on ronaldo is the pen area it looks a pen to me.

You're clearly a tool, Noodles. I've enjoyed this game. Our passing and movement has been awesome. They've struggled against Giggs, Ronaldo, Saha and Rooney.

Again, you're just a tool, Noodles.

And we should have had a penalty on Ronaldo - foul from behind.

Balde should have been off before that for the tackle on Scholes - he was lucky not get a serious injury from it.

Hate to repeat everyone else but Heinze has been way below par first half. He's had plenty of opportunity to attack and not taken it and he keeps getting caught out of position or with sloppy control. He's way short of his pre-injury class :(

Also yeah, Rooney to his best position please. This stick him on the wing malarky never works.

Apart from those two things though it's all been good really. We're much the better side.
I guess heinze requires more matches to be back to his best. His case is similar to Rooneys.I am sure he will be back to his best in a 2 or 3 more matches.

Based on what you've seen so far, does anyone think Heinze is ready for Chelsea?

some interesting graphics

carrick first half in possesion of the ball:

the ginger ninja just runs the entire game!! on another level to carrick in commanding the ball and taking an authorative role in the game

Evra will probably start against Chelsea anyway

I agree, not about Noodle ;)

The way we are keeping the ball and passing is making Celtic look as a pub team. Their famous support only make some noise when they cross the half line which is rare.

As I said, we're just missing the final pass in the box, but otherwise the way we are keeping the ball and passing it along the grass is a pleasure to watch.

its difficult to say. probably not - as the opposition will be far more testing. heinze as spent as much time in the celtic half as his own - which tells you about the pattern of the game.

but if he can stay fit and get games - gradually the sharpness will come back

Yes. A pub side. We've really made them look awful. Scholes has indeed been quality. I just hope we make all our excellent play count in the second half. But yeah, the passing and movement as been as good as I've ever seen from United.

Oh and Noodles is a tool.
