UEFA Champions League

Venue: Celtic Park (Capacity: 60,832)

Kick Off: 19:45 GMT

Manchester United managed to come out on top with a good performance at Old Trafford on Match Day Three, beating Celtic by three goals to nil. Dimitar Berbatov scored a brace, netting two goals that could've well been judged off-side. Wayne Rooney carried on with his recent goal scoring form to net the third, in a somewhat comfortable win for the reds.

Manchester United, currently top of Group E on 7 points, are ahead of Villareal on goal difference. One more win will see United qualify for the next round, so Sir Alex will definitely be returning to Scotland with a victory in mind. United are also the only side (along with Chelsea) that are yet to concede a goal in this year’s competition. Celtic will be looking for their first win in the campaign, which really needs to come against United if they have any hope of qualifying for the next round.

Injuries are now few and far between at Old Trafford, with Paul Scholes and possibly Owen Hargreaves being the only first choice players to miss out. Fabio Da Silva is also still not at full fitness, while Gary Neville and Michael Carrick are yet to reach full fitness. Wes Brown missed a couple of games recently with an ankle problem, but Sir Alex fully expects him to be ready to face Celtic.

LB: Patrice Evra #3

RM: Cristiano Ronaldo #7

This is a game we should really want to, and probably need to win. Let some of the kids have a run out against Aalborg at Old Trafford, not for this one.

Nice one.

My team:

-----------Vds

Nev - Vida - Rio - Evra

Fletcher - Carrick - Anderson

Ronaldo - Berbatov - Rooney

Oh no, surely you didn't start the matchday thread

Anyway, line-ups should be:

VDS

Brown
Ferdinand
Vidic
Evra

Ronaldo
Carrick
Fletcher
Park

Berbatov
Rooney

Subs: Foster, Neville, Evans, O'Shea, Anderson, Nani, Tevez.

If rumors are anything to go by, Foster will be handed a start in this game, and possible Evans. But I highly doubt it, since this game is one of the more important ones in the group games. Win it, and we're there. So the youngsters can wait :)

Ronaldo and Rooney to score

You have been waiting for this day a long time haven't you, all prepared for the "Match Day" thread.

Should be slightly harder the the home game but we should still win. Celtic don't look as good as when we played them in 2006.

Controlled the game last time we played at Celtic Park

I quite fancy us here, 3-1

Celtic would be crazy not to have taken on board the success that Everton's approach in the second half brought them.

They'll be like that from the off and we must be prepared to both resist and repay in kind such tactics.

If it were me, i'd start Rooney, Tevez and Ronaldo. Although Fergie has turned against it with the arrival of Berba which i think isa pity [and unwise at times] but there we go.

Celtic will go in hard on us. A very physical approach to this game, with full of fouls and cards. I see Celtic closing us fast, scrappy game, devoid of skills and creative plays. Probably a 1-1, with us conceding an equaliser.

Rooney Tevez

Giggs Fletcher Carrick Ronaldo

Evra Rio Vidic Brown
Van Der Saar

didnt fergie say foster will start this one .. post match interview after west ham .. said foster is back and fit and he might get a game at celtic park next week

picking the side is hard .. i have a feeling posse might be involved .. hope he is

Is the atmosphere at Celtic Park as good as it's made out to be in the media Ralph?

----------------Foster------------------

Brown------Rio--------Vida---------Evra

Ronaldo---Carrick------Fletcher-----Nani

----------Berba-------Rooney----------

This should be easier to win than the home game. Celtic will have to try and attack else they risk losing the UEFA cup spot. That will suit us brilliantly.

daylight savings . the match will start an hour later here

:(

On big european nights it is impressive.

But so is Old Trafford, Anfield etc.

They only sell out for rangers, and very rarely sell out an away game.

I think they took less than 1,000 to Kilmarnock the other week.

We're their cup final, which is why they bring so many to OT.
But we'll take a similiar number to Glasgow. (A bit less, due to the vast differences in allocations).

Van Der Sar
Neville Rio Vidic Evra
Ronaldo Anderson Carrick Nani
Rooney Tevez

Think Berbatov will start on the bench in this one

----------Foster----------
Brown--Rio--Evans--Evra
Park-Fletcher-Carrick-Nani
--Rooney---Tevez----

--------------------Van Der Sar------------------

--Brown----------Rio-------Vidic-----------Evra--

--Ronaldo------Carrick----Anderson--------Nani--

--------------Berbatov-----Rooneh---------------

Prediction:3-1 win for us with goals from Tevez (off the bench), Ronaldo, Anderson & Nakamura from a freekick for Celtics

Tevez should start surely Berbatov deserves a rest

Really looking forward to this one. Celtic Park will be rocking. I hope Celtic have a few less injury problems this time so that they can field a line up which will lend itself to a bit more expansive football from them. They produce nothing of note at Old Trafford.

We have come on loads as a team since we last visited them and I don't envisage the same problems this time around. A draw would be adequate. i think we'll get the win though.

Not a game for Berbatov IMO this one. Shame Hargreaves isn't fit....

VDS
Neville Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Fletcher Carrick Giggs
Ronaldo Tevez Rooney

i thjink this could be the game that ronaldo is rested, as i dont see him being rested against arsenal. tevez has to start. fergie can decide besides rooney and berba but tevez needs to start.

Not been there before so don't know.

However I don't consider holding scarves in the air and having YAWN piped at full volume through the tannoy to be real "atmosphere". So I doubt it.

What design is your flag, and what does it say!

Tevez should start surely Berbatov deserves a rest

He doesnt deserve a rest at all, its not as if he comes off the pitch knackered after every game, he runs the least out of everyone, saying that it would be worth dropping him to the bench for tevez to have a shot, i have a feeling his work-rate and commitment will be perfectly suited to this fiery encounter.

Fergies Formula

---------------- Foster ----------------
- Brown - Ferdinand - Vidic - Evra -
-Ronaldo - Carrick - Fletcher - Nani-
----------- Tevez - Rooney ----------

4-0 - tevez, rooney, ronaldo, fletcher

It won't be that comfortable by any means, it would probably be a 2-1 for us.

you never know with us, I just got a feeling about this one, im sure ferguson will be looking for a big performance after hull, he will feel let down and would have let the players no, he wants them to be more clinical so more goals, and he wants no mistakes defensively, the players will be looking to prove something i feel.

We'll see

Celtic have a fantastic home record in europe (in contrast to their appauling away record)

I know we beat them at ours, but its an entirely different prospect going there. I'd be surprised if we beat them by more than 2 goals. Everyone would be.

vds

brown ferdinand vidic evra

ronaldo anderson carrick nani

berbatov tevez

Tevez needs to make himself more of a threat further up the pitch.
The atmosphere will calm down when after 5 mins celtic still havent touched the ball.

Not this season - they did draw with Aalborg and played rubbish from what I seen and heard of the match.
