Celtic vs Manchester United

do you think the celtic fans will feel that rooney is inciting them to violence by his skinhead appearance?

If Berbatov starts with Tevez, will you give me a tenner?

In know loads of United in the Celtic end for this one.

Tell me, what's the score with the Celtic away end? Is it one tier or two and, more importantly, is there going to be anywhere for me to be able to hang my flag! :D

Oddly enough Celtic Park is quite similar to OT, except no 3rd tier as our North stand. Their main stand is also there from a previos era. Also away fans are in the corner, as in OT. Flag space limited (unless extra away space agreed between clubs!).

 Good luck tomorrow, and prepare to witness atmophere long gone from the English game...!!

So they're not going to pipe "You'll Never Walk Alone" through the tannoy at high volume before kick off to get the home crowd's "famous" atmosphere going? ;)

That fecks me off. They have it all so choreographed now - you get the Celtic song, Let the People Sing, This Land is Your Land, then YAWN. They don't need to tell us what to sing, or when to start to start singing it, but they do it anyway - it's stage managed. Obviously they cut the music before the chorus but still - it's a wee bit infantilising.

It's the atmosphere guring the game that people talk about - Ronaldo, Vidic, and Ferguson have all said this week that it's the best they've ever played in. Although if you can keep the ball for long enough it'll go pretty quiet, eventually.

Having said that, my only CL game at Old Trafford was a 0-0 against Lille three years ago, and jesus you could have done with someone telling you to sing that night. It was genuinely the quietest football match I've ever been at.

The atmosphere tonight will be brilliant, though - I'm looking forward to it. At least, it'll be brilliant for a bit. :nervous:

Incidentally, if any mancs are up and killing time this afternoon, then it's Celtic reserves v United youth team at Airdrie this afternoon. 3pm kick off.

Oh, and FAO Georgie best - it's Trabbs here.......

Not so sure we'll be able to keep the ball as easily as at OT. The match could be tricky - Celtic have a great record at home.

----------Foster-----------

-Rafael - Rio - Vidic - Evra-

Fletch - Possebon - Anderson

--- CR7 - Tevez - Rooney ---

4-0 win for us

Tevezx2, Ronaldo Rooney

Now i know who is unavailable i will go for:

Foster
O'Shea Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Ronaldo Fletcher Giggs Park
Tevez Rooney

Foster in over PIG purely to see what Fozy is made of, if he can come through a game like this and still have his reputation in tact then we're onto a winner imo.

O'Shea over Rafael just because of his experience.

Yeah, we have an incredible record all things considered. But a lot of those victories were kinda ground out against teams that had much more of the ball than us. A lot of our goals come in the final ten minutes or so.

Ironically, this season we've got players who can keep the ball, and in Villarreal we played really well for an hour or so - properly good football. Only the players we relied on to keep possession are currently injured, so we have some cloggers in midfield and (probably) a kid playing up front who's got 3 starts to his name and is very much a work in progress.

I do think it'll be a more competitive game, though.

United won't play games

It won’t be the end of the world if United lose at Celtic Park on Wednesday night.

With a trip to Villarreal and a home tie against Danish minnows Aalborg to come, the Reds would still be odds-on favourites to qualify from Group E.

But Sir Alex Ferguson is determined this season’s group stage campaign won’t go down to the wire.

“Hopefully I can give a few players some minutes on the pitch [against Celtic],” he told MUTV in an exclusive interview at the Reds’ team hotel.

“But I’ll be picking a team to get a result. That’s the important thing: we’re not fiddling about here.

“We did that in 2006 and threw away a game [against FC Copenhagen in Denmark]. We can’t afford to do that.”

On that occasion, United had to scrape through on Matchday 6 with a come-from-behind win against Benfica at Old Trafford.

Victory on Wednesday night would secure the Reds’ passage to the next phase and allow Sir Alex the freedom to rest and rotate players in the remaining group games.

if Rafael starts tonight, it should be a good test for him. Good on you mate.

Really excited about tonights game, i'm actually glad im crocked and can't train otherwise i'd miss the first half!! :D

If Foster and Rafael play it will be a great opportunity to see what they're made of in such a big game and a very intimidating atmosphere :D

Foster
Rafael Rio Vidic Evra
carrick / fletcher
Ronnie anderson nani
rooney berbatov

3-1 (although would love to see Foster come out of this with a clean sheet for which I'd take a 2-0 :)

hope this thread last longer than the hull game thread. ;)

My guess

----------------- PIG -------------------
Rafael --- Rio ------- Vidic ------ Evra
Ronaldo -- Fletcher -- Carrick -- Nani
-------- Berbatov --- Rooney ---------

K.O is at 7.45pm...so that means we are about 2 hours and 7 minutes according to my watch

Wouldnt be suprised to see a Tevez-Berba or Tevez-Rooney partnership. Plus Rafael to start, with opportunities for another couple of youngsters if we go ahead and play well.

We'll either pass them off the park and win 0-3.

Or get beat 1-0.

10 minutes till line-ups...
Nice.

If Tévez plays the whole game (which I think he will) I reckon he'll score tonight.

Celtic are the only team yet to score a goal in this Champions League campaign, while Man Utd are the only team yet to concede.

On paper it should be simple, but we know it's never like that in football..

I love waiting for the line-ups. Untill it comes out and Gary Neville isn't starting upfront. Again.

Over the last 2 years, I have put 20p on almost every game that GN has had a chance of playing in, that he will score. Wasted loads. But I keep the hope.

I always have a feeling he will score.. Probably tapeworms feeding off friday and saturday nights take aways. Wow, that was a completely irrelevant post. Sorry.

I hope you haven't done that tonight seeing as he isn't in the squad.
